  • "We would love to come again!"

Very thoughtfully set up, clean, comfortable , convenient, childfriendly. Only suggestion is to have more rails/hooks for towels and hand towels in the bathrooms and kitchen. And the dining chairs werent so comfy. We couldnt figure out how to open either back door, which didn't matter in that weather, and we could just walk the long way round. to take out the rubbish. Thank you for having us!

  • "Keldas was fantastic, perfect location in the middle of Ambleside and a lovely clean and comfortable property."

Only real complaint was with the TV - very old and no Smart apps, just the good old aerial, so even though armed with my iPlayer and Netflix login could not watch the films we had saved up for our week away!

Hi thank for you for your really positive comments. Just want to share that we have changed the tv to a new smart tv. Property Owner

The toaster needs replacing as it is quite precarious- let's say we tested the smoke alarm and for what we paid I thought the "welcome" pack" was very sparce but otherwise it was warm, comfortable, convenient location and a pleasure to stay in

  • "We absolutely loved the property Keldas."

Modern, spacious, minimal and clean with everything we needed. We would definitely stay here again. The only issue we had was that on our arrival, the on street parking permit was out of date! It had expired a few weeks previously on 27/9/22. I called immediately to report this and was told very matter of factly, to park in one of the town car parks with the other permit instead. Not exactly ideal! This was extremely annoying and I didn’t really feel the person I spoke to on the phone appreciated how inconvenient this was and she wasn’t very apologetic.

  • "All in all not bad at all has everything you need and kept presentable in a good condition as a recent refurb."

Close to all amenities and perfect for nipping out for essentials within walking distance. Would stay again... but on the following being rectified. Everyone keeps stating in the reviews that there was an issue with the master bed. Proprietors have replied saying it's the slats and it's sorted... its not. The bed is massively uncomfortable and the quality of the mattress is awful. The two single beds were so much comfier. 1. Bed needs to be replaced with a divan or something higher with a decent base. 2. New mattress and pillows... definately. 3. Use Super King Duvets on King and King on Doubles for a more comfortable sleep when more than one person in the bed. Parking is a nightmare to get outside the property and the business owners/residents keep coming out as someone moves a car to move their car down in between the spaces to park awkwardly as to 'save a space'. However you can use the Carpark about 10 minutes walk away at Heart of the Lakes offices for free with the parking permit you get.

Hi the master bed mattress and pillows have all been replaced. Property Owner

  • "A lovely property in a great central location yet very quiet."

Appreciated having a downstairs shower room as well as main bathroom. Liked the clean lines of the decor and that house was beautifully clean. Would definitely book this property again. Only small downside was tv wasn’t easy to operate.

  • "A beautiful cottage, nicely furnished."

We loved it, thank you. We had a small issue with it having a lot of moths …. No windows were open but I wonder if they were while decorating before we arrived.

  • "Great location, didn't need to use the car at all."

Nice spacious and clean property, basic but functional and looks like it has recently been done up. Some decent fixtures such as a great shower but let down by the saggy mattresses. A good night's sleep is key and despite bed hopping this wasnt possible. Loved the cottage though apart from that one thing which could be easily fixed.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay. We have recently redecorated the whole house. On investigating your comments in relation to the mattress we found that a number of the support slats had fallen out of place. These have been put back and the position resolved. Many thanks.Paul Property Owner

  • "Another fantastic stay at Keldas fantastic cottage with everything you could possibly need."

Our only bug bear which is something out of the owners control is the parking situation on the road outside. We only managed to park on one occasion during our stay. We noticed the guy from the slate workshop opposite walking up and down the road checking permits and counted a total of four of his cars parked on the road. I understand priority should be given to residents but felt four cars was excessive and also felt watched when we did manage to park as the minute we moved he parked another car on the road. I’m not sure whether the cottage owners have to pay for the road permit but just felt it unfair. It won’t deter us from returning but wanted to make you aware.

  • "The cottage was ideal but the combination of Sykes and Heart of the Lakes is a poor one."

We were given a parking permit that expired on day one of our holiday which is sloppy and shows a lack of care. When I phoned to point this out I could only get through to Sykes in Chester and despite being given a case reference and me calling again nothing was done about this. When we mentioned this to Heart of the Lakes on returning the key they denied all knowledge of our problem and we’re very uninterested. Poor customer service...

Lying on a quiet side road just a couple of minutes away from the town centre, Keldas has been beautifully refurbished by the owners to an impeccably high standard, creating a stylish and spacious holiday home ideal for a family or two couples.

Taking its name Keldas from a lesser known but picturesque minor summit in the Ullswater Valley, this property is perfect for adventure seekers looking to be close to the excitement of the Lakes.

Walk through the entrance porch to your luxurious, living/dining room with oak flooring, cleverly designed to create different mood areas.

Sit on the sumptuous leather suite, admire the feature wall mounted gas fire and look forward to cosy evenings in watching film on the TV.

Look over to your lovely dining table where you will enjoy delicious meals in this bright and contemporary space.

The smart, fitted galley kitchen with granite worktops holds all the appliances you need for a self-catered stay, whilst from here you can find the ground-floor shower room boasting excellent style and flooded by overhead natural light.

Relax on the lovely private patio area on summer evenings, sipping refreshing drinks and discussing what the next day will bring.

Climb the stairs and explore your lovely and spacious bedrooms, with an attractive king-size bedroom and a delightful twin, which can be made into a double via prior request thanks to the zip/link features.

Serving the bedrooms is the fabulous shared bathroom, featuring a bath with an overhead shower with plenty of space to get ready for an evening out or a day of adventure.

Pull on your boots and walk up nearby Todd Crag to be rewarded with panoramic views of Lake Windermere, or walk up to lovely Wansfell Pike and then onto the picturesque village of Troutbeck.

Challenge yourself to a hike around the acclaimed Fairfield Horseshoe, with plenty more choice of many wonderful trails whether it’s a low-level circular route or an adventurous hike up to the high fells.

For a relaxing day, walk into the centre of town to find excellent restaurants, cafés and pubs to dine in for an afternoon treat, or walk into beautiful Rothay Park and picnic by the river.

Play tennis and bowls at the recreation ground next door, or head down to Waterhead and catch a cruise on gorgeous Lake Windermere taking in the stunning scenery from the waters.

With plenty to do from the doorstep, enjoy a fabulous stay in the Lakes from the comfort of Keldas.

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
