Resting in the picturesque setting of the Lake District National Park, on the owners' grounds in Windermere, Cumbria is this impeccable, semi-detached house of The Hideaway.

Built in 1887, The Hideaway was the former school master’s house for the college next door (now converted apartments), but is now a magnificent retreat for a large family of 22; The Hideaway's accommodation is not only stylish and packed with charm but is spread over three floors. With a contemporary twist, while sympathetically reviving the property’s Victorian features, this abode pulls on inspiration from the owners’ travels, and they have planned, designed and project managed the renovation, choosing and co-ordinating all finishes, colours and fabrics with meticulous detail. Completely non-smoking, this beautiful house offers exceptional self-catering accommodation & facilities; make your way inside to the entrance hall and turn right to discover a pleasant snug that is ideal for the kids to relax in, whilst you continue to the large sitting room which offers a TV and enough seating for all the group; so, you can enjoy some quality time together and unwind. When you're feeling peckish, move through the fabulous abode to find a contemporary kitchen, a spacious spot that provides everything the designated chef(s) will need to rustle up nourishing meals for all to enjoy, including a handy dishwasher and washing machine!

Meals can be savoured in the dining area, which seats up to 20 guests (across two tables); crack open a bottle of wine and let the drinks flow, whilst you catch up with your loved ones on your outdoor adventures and excursions. As the day comes to an end, choose between 11 beautifully decorated bedrooms to rest in, with one of these being a fabulous, split level king-size which features a TV, inviting heated tile flooring, and a spiral staircase to an en-suite bathroom with a roll-top bath and twin basins, for a touch of luxury. Progress upstairs to the first floor to find seven more fantastic bedrooms, with one of these being a super-king-size or twin with an en-suite bathroom, another being a king-size with an en-suite bathroom that has been designed with couples in mind, with freestanding bath taking centre stage; two more king-sizes, one with an en-suite bathroom and the other with an en-suite power shower room can also be found. Continue along the corridor to discover four more tastefully furnished rooms designed with their own unique colour schemes, two of which are king-sizes with en-suite shower rooms and two of which are doubles, also with en-suite shower rooms.

Climb the stairs again to find the second floor's bedrooms, two of which bring king-size and a double, all benefiting from en-suite power showers one also with a freestanding roll top bath; all of the bedrooms boast TVs, so you can enjoy some late-night entertainment from the privacy of your own bed. The Garden room which is accessed from within the main house features a small patio area which is set down from the main garden, while the garden itself hosts a spacious lawn, where ample seating can be found, so all the group can enjoy alfresco meals together in the warmer months! With no passing traffic, this peaceful retreat is exceptionally quiet, located down a quiet lane behind the village of Windermere, yet still offering easy access and just a short walk to Windermere Village and just longer but idyllic walk to Bowness and Lake Windermere; this makes The Hideaway the perfect spot to explore this beautiful area and experience everything the Lake District has to offer. When you finally feel like tearing yourself away from this gorgeous home-from-home, progress into Windemere, where not only an abundance of amenities can be found, but a great selection of attractions can be discovered, including walks along Queen Adelaide's Hill and Orrest Head Viewpoint, watersports at Windermere Outdoor Adventure Centre and tours of the fascinating Windermere Jetty Museum. Continue a short distance south to Bowness-on-Windermere, a town offering access to the lakeside, green space of Cockshott Point, along with access to a marina, where you can hire wake surfing equipment or board a ferry over to Far Sawrey, where the Claife Viewing Station and Hill Top attractions await.

Ambleside isn't far and is a great day out, with its access to Stock Ghyll Force Waterfall, Skelwith Force Waterfall, Rydal Cave and the Ambleside Roman Fort. There is still so much more to see in the Lake District National Park, with Scafell Pike and Helvellyn enticing climbers, Ullswater and Derwentwater drawing in watersports enthusiasts and towns, such as Cockermouth and Kendal offering marvellous days out for all!

The twin towns of Bowness and Windermere are both vibrant, fun-filled places set within the splendid scenery of the Lake District. Both towns provide a range of amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes whilst Ambleside offers the additional attraction of a boat ride to Bowness, the Lakeside Aquarium and Beatrix Potter's 'Hill Top House' at Sawrey. Grizedale Forest Park is within easy driving distance and is home to a range of activities including many good walks, mountain biking and the 'Go Ape' adventure park. The region also boasts many National Trust properties as well as a variety of water sports for those who prefer a more adrenaline-fuelled trip. Children will enjoy a trip to the 'World of Beatrix Potter' in Bowness whilst the villages of Grasmere, Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains are all within easy reach.
