“What a fabulous cottage with so many extra touches.”
We had a lovely warm welcome accompanied with homemade scones and jam. The cottage is idyllic, with beautiful views out of every window. The pride of place is the beautiful, cozy sun room with stunning views overlooking the moors. We spent all our time when we were back at the cottage in this room watching the ever-changing views and wildlife and we had an amazing bonus of the red squirrel sitting on the windowsill whilst we filmed and took photos of her. The town of Alston is a lovely place with a lovely train ride to Slaggyford. We also went to Birdoswald Fort on Hadrians Wall, Ullswater, Keswick, Penrith and found a delightful place called Acorns Bank. We found a friendly pub on the Hexham Road called The Elks Head where the food and service were outstanding. I would definitely recommend this cottage, the owners are so friendly and informative, the extras provided such as dressing gowns just make you feel so welcome and special. There are local walks, mines and a lovely river. We saw so much wildlife including curlews, one near Alston and one near Nenthead. I have told my parents about this adorable cottage because I can just see them relaxing in the sun room enjoying the peace, tranquility and stunning views.
