  • "Here’s a polished, friendly review that keeps an overall positive tone while mentioning the small issues constructively: --- We stayed at Oak Cottage with five adults and a dog and overall really enjoyed our stay."

    The cottage was decorated for Christmas, which was a lovely touch and made it feel very welcoming. Everything was very clean and tidy on arrival, and the owner kindly came and turned the heating on about 30 minutes before we arrived, which was much appreciated on a cold evening. The kitchen was very well equipped and had everything we needed for our stay. We also appreciated the nice welcome basket with Bucks Fizz and snacks – a thoughtful extra. The beds were comfortable and we didn’t have any major issues with sleeping. Parking was manageable; we parked around the corner on Roper Street without much difficulty. Penrith can be a bit annoying for parking (having lived there ourselves), but Sainsbury’s nearby offers three hours free parking, which was useful. The location is very central and convenient, although the road can be a little noisy on weekdays. There were a few small points worth noting. The window seal in the master bedroom has a slight gap, so traffic noise is noticeable when it’s busy. A couple of doorstops downstairs would be helpful, as there are several doors that are easier left open. A small shoe rack or space near the door would also be useful, especially with five adults. Our dog struggled a little with toileting in the yard as it’s fully paved. The living room felt slightly small for more than four people, but it was still workable for us. Overall, Oak Cottage suited our needs well, felt homely and well cared for, and we enjoyed our stay. We would happily recommend it for a central and comfortable base in Penrith.

Just to respond to a few of your comments, I’m unable to provide doorstops as the doors in question are fire doors so should not be left or propped open. It would be against fire regulations for me to leave door stops or encourage guests to do so. The master bedroom window has recently been fixed so it just needs a good shut, so it may have been slightly stiff. Overall, I’m glad you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed our time at the Oaks cottage."

    It was well positioned and close to all the bars, restaurants and tourist facilities. The 3 bedrooms were decent size and beds were very comfortable. The bedroom in the basement was great for us to not hear our noisy teenagers. There was a lovely bathroom and nice terrace. The fact it is dog friendly was great as these are few and far between. We had a lovely welcome basket upon arrival and good instructions for the cottage and surrounding area and things to do. There were plenty of TVs too but we couldn't figure out the bedroom ones but didn't really need them anyway. The keybox made arrival and departure easy too. We would recommend this and it was good value for money.

  • "Fabulous property in a great location."

    The host was excellent in all communications. Slight feedback would be: 1) the 2 single beds in the twin room need replacing - they aren't very comfy and they are very noisy! 2) For a property hosting up to 6 people, another loo would make a huge difference. That said, would still highly recommend this as a place to stay.

  • "Without tumble dryer it is very difficult to dry clothes."

    I hope you will consider to add this essential item for convenience. There is only one Bath cum toilet which was again not convenient for six guests. The rent is not reflecting the the compatible convenience as compared to your competitors. However, the location is very convenient i wish to book again when some improvements are made. One curtain fell off from the wall including its fitting in the wall. that was simply a care taking short coming or poor workmanship.

Further, it outlines all the properties facilities. The curtain pole that was removed from the wall (ripping out the plaster board) has since been repaired following your visit.   • "Great property close to the town."

    Good facilities only downside was parking but managed to park in town for the weekend Friday to Sunday for £13. Penrith has pubs and restaurants close by and loads of shops to see.

  • "Nice property in a great location for visiting the Northern Lakes."

    Very short walk into Penrith town with local facilities close by. Excellent communication with the owner in advance giving helpful tips and hints for parking, shopping etc. Owner also very quick to respond to an issue we had regarding the televisions. Would return if looking to stay in the area again.

    It wasdifficult to get the TV in the lounge to function properly and the Tv in the dining area wecouldn'tgettowork at all

    Hi Sandra, thanks for staying at the Oaks Cottage, The TV in the lounge has 2 remotes, one for the television and one for the Sky box. The television is the dining room had a fire-stick in the back of it, and pulls out from the wall so guests are able to add in their own devices if needed.   • "Spent a lovely few days at the cottage."

    Excellent location and easy to find. A couple of grumbles included a radiator in one of the bedrooms did not work and an extra shower room would have been useful for us. That being said we would definitely stay there again and had a very enjoyable stay.

  • "It was a lovely place to stay, clean and convenient for local shopping and restaurant."

    The only drawback was there was only 1 bathroom and sometimes it was difficult for 6 people, otherwise everything was great.
