The walkways within the fence had leaves piled up which would blow everywhere, The hot tub was spot on. All in all the things which I have mentioned did not impact our stay. The main thing for us was the inside which was lovely and clean

It's location within the White Cross Bay complex; the outside space (views and tranquility); and the hot tub were all excellent.

  • "Positives are - great location for walks, very comfortable beds throughout, clean, great big hot tub, comfortable sitting area, excellent shower in main bathroom, large decking with plenty outside seating, large Astro turfed area which is great for kids and dogs, smart tv with plenty channels, good size fridge freezer."

Negatives - smell of damp and dogs throughout, outside fence still broken although previously told it was fixed by Sykes, not a lot of kitchen work space, gas oven only worked intermittently and small kids’ bedroom door needs fixed as needs to be fully closed to open wardrobe and doors, but was too stiff to close easily. A negative that wasn’t the fault of the lodge owner is that we unfortunately had 2 power cuts and the out of hours number voicemail wasn’t picked up until the morning after. We had to ask the holiday park to help. Sykes were helpful once they did call and done everything possible to rectify the situation, but we were subsequently left without electricity for 9 hours.

Many thanks for taking the time to submit your valued feedback. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay in Woodside Lodge. We are grateful to you for bringing the 'negatives' to our attention and will, of course, investigate and rectify these issues as necessary. It is most unfortunate that you were without electricity for part of your stay, unfortunately this was out of our control as it was a park issue which was, we understand, resolved as quickly as possible. We look forward to welcoming you back should you decide to visit the area again in the future. Property Owner

  • "Very much like previous guests to this lodge I found the state of repair a bit poor, the worst bit has to be the sign on the en-suite door asking us not to use the shower as the floor is collapsing which was mentioned by previous guests and obviously nothing had been done about this probably as the lodge was full every week, some prior notice would have been nice."

Also the fence to the side is falling apart, again previously mentioned and not repaired. The owner advertises site internet from the park but this non existent, I complained to the park about this but they didn’t fix it during our stay. The lodge overall was clean and comfortable and is only let down by the poor maintenance.

Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry for the confusion regarding the en-suite. The sign was left up by accident and was quickly removed. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. Noting your further comments, a plan is in motion for fixing the side fence. We are pleased to hear you found the lodge comfortable and we do hope you will return in the future. Property Owner

  • "Stayed 7 nights at Pony Meadow 12."

Lovely lodge, comfy beds, great 2 tier decking, huge hot tub. No wifi instructions, but we found the router behind the sofa. TV in the bedroom was not working on our arrival, not an issue as we wouldn't use it anyway. Arrived back from a hike on day 3 to realise someone had been in and replaced the TV - thank you but would have been nice to have been informed. No BBQ slab as stated so had to improvise. Some of the fairy lights on the decking need replaced however the main issue is the fence and spindles. In desperate need of paint and repair. Our terrier was fine but I dont think I would have been comfortable we had a large breed dog who could easily knock it over. I had read previous reviews and the fence has been mentioned several times with the promise of it being repaired. Such a shame that this hasnt been done prior to the summer season. That said we would stay here again, the park was ideally situated and the marina was great during the heat wave. Brockhole outdoor attractions is just next door, bus stop outside, woods ideal for short dog walks. One other thing to add is although we visited during the nice weather there was one occasion that it was windy through the night and the tree behind bashed off the bedroon window all night long....

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Woodside Lodge. We are sorry to hear about the issues that you found and we will pass on your comments to our Maintenance team. We look forward to welcoming you back again. There were splash marks and cobwebs on the cieling . The rug and cushions had seen better days. The cutlery and crockery were unclean. The kettle and frying pan must have been restled off and old trail 20 years ago. There was a consistently flashing light in the on suite . The floor in the on suite near the entrance to the shower was not stable it seemed as if there was a whole under the laminate flooring. The curtains and tie backs in this room had what appeared to be slash marks and mold on them . The lodge smelt feisty and damp on entering. I moved the bedside table in the double bedroom and there was all kinds of filth behind it . I could go on and on . Not comfortable, not clean, did not use the kettle as disgusting even after descalor used. Decided to boil water in a pan to find the pan was covered in the remnants of the last visitors meal. I would not recommend it to anyone . Ruined my getaway with my daughters and family friend.

Many thanks for taking the time to offer feedback following your recent stay at Woodside Lodge. We take all negative reviews very seriously and will investigate all the points raised, without delay. We are very sorry to learn that you found the lodge to be of an unsatisfactory standard. Just a few things need sorting to the outside, hot tub lid was broken which made it hard to take the lid off and on, the outside fencing needs repairing and in places was broken making it quite dangerous, we did voice concerns to reception staff but they were unable to assist us. Great property inside we couldn’t fault a thing And would defo stay again.

Thank you for your review and feedback. I can confirm a new hot tub has now been installed and a new riser bar will be fitted on Monday. we are sorry these items hadn't arrived in time for your stay. • "Really enjoyed our stay and would come back."

The reasons for only 3 stars are small things like there is loads of crumbs and dirt between the cushions on the sofa and and empty juice can under it which we found when getting the ball for the dog so the cleaning is not very thorough. Maybe having some basic condiments supplied would be a nice touch too, like salt, pepper and sugar. There is a hole in the floor under the lino in the en-suite bathroom which didn't cause any problems but needs repaired. The outside space is great and secure for the dog but the fences could do with a few basic repairs and a lick of paint and a clean would greatly improve the look. With all of the above mentioned, I'd still like to say that we would come back and have recommended to family and friends.

Thank you for your comments. We are sorry to hear about the issues with the cleaning, and we will be passing these comments on to the housekeeper. Thank you for brining to our attention the issue with the lino and outside spaces. We are delighted to hear that you would come back and stay with us again. Property Owner

Outside could do with some attention, fencing needs repair, hot tub cover was broken off and loose, because the vinyl was torn the padding was waterlogged and heavy to lift for my elderly folks when I wasn't around. Don't want to sound like a whinger Just constructive criticism . Site facilities were great, overall we had a nice break.

Was very clean plenty of utensils in kitchen as I'm one that prefers to cook rather than always eat out. Only issue I found witch are only minor is dining chairs need updating as some bolts kept coming out, the oven door doesn't shut properly & had gas smell so got headaches everytime we used oven did contact reception sent someone straight out to look they said its meant to be like that (witch i know its not) took long time to cook stuff & had to use a brush to shut it properly. The other think is the lodge needs to have a dimmer for the lights as they were way to bright & kept flickering I'm epileptic so definitely not good having flickering lights so had to always have them off when got dark, there is only 1 small table lamp in frontroom area didn't give much light so had to go to town & buy some cheap lamps. Hot-tub was fantastic after a days hiking 1 of the jets wasn't working but the hot-tub man knew & the part was on order but still had enough bubbles for us to feel the effects. We have re-booked already with you for our next holiday in july 2023 same park but different lodge.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear of the few issues you had and these will be looked into, thank you for bringing them to our attention and we apologise for the inconvenience caused. It is wonderful to hear you have booked to stay with us again. Property Owner

Thank you for your wonderful review and we are pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay. Where every effort is taken to ensure the cleanliness level of the hot tubs are at a high standard and checked twice a day, due to the time of year, the hot tub being outside and the surrounding trees on occasions some small debris can make its way into the tub. The hot tub lids should be securely in place when the hot tub is not in use to limit this, however we will refer your comments back to the team. Property Owner

  • "On the website it stated that the lodge was suitable for dogs, this was not the case!"

The fence was rotten and leaning over ready to fall. This is a health and safety hazard and could have led to my dog escaping. We also have to tie bungy cords round all three gates because the wouldn't close! The overall cleanliness of the lodge was not great at all! We had to wash all of the pots as they were mucky before we used them. The freezer was unclean and had a half-eaten biscuit in the top of it. The cooker was dirty as though it hadn't even been cleaned. The dining table chairs have definitely seen better days! All of the fabric was coming off of them. In the master bedroom, water was leaking in through the roof which caused it to be damp. On the second day at the lodge, builders came with a digger and began work at the side of us! to say this was 'supposed' to be a relaxing holiday it really wasn't. They started work at 8am tuesday morning which woke us up. We couldn't even let our dog out onto the decking as it was un-nerving her from all of the noise! This was the case every day of our holiday, which then lead to us having to complain at reception to then be told that 'its a working park' when it clearly states its a holiday park. Considering we paid nearly £800 for 4 nights it was disgusting! We will definitely not be returning!

Thank you for your feedback, which is very useful for us. We were concerned to learn of your issues with the gate and fence and have passed these on to our maintenance manager. The aspects of cleanliness have been passed on to our Housekeeping Manager to look into. The building work was being undertaken by the Park and we had no knowledge of this, this is outside of our control and we cannot be held responsible for any disturbances this may cause. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. We hope that in the future you may look to returning to the holiday lodges. Property Owner

The location of the lodge ( by the woods) is lovely. The lodge itself is cosy, the hot tub is great and we would love to stay here again in the future. Suggestions for improvements would be....the dining table and chairs were bulky and dated ...may benefit from a smaller set for example with benches that easily tuck under. The press down button on the toaster was missing and was a bit difficult to use and as a dog owner the most important suggestion would be to secure the fencing better between the lodge and the path towards the woods and the gate to the lodge too.

Dining table and chairs where a little worn and looked a little unsightly. Bedrooms where comfortable and lots of room which is a rarity in some lodges. Bathrooms where immaculate too. The park itself was fantastic! Facilities where brilliant and staff very friendly. Highly recommend the food in the on site pub. However …. The outside of the lodge was a disgrace. The lodge itself was covered in cobwebs and tree debris that had been collecting over time. These where not a few fresh little cobwebs. The decking area was filthy too again not been touched. The table and chairs where disgusting. The table hadn’t seen a cloth in a long g time. Simple things such as a quick sweep over the outside of the lodge and a mop of the decking would have made the world of difference but it really let it down. Hot tub area again although the hot tub was great the area surrounding was dirty. The gate was broken and therefore we couldn’t let the dogs out without watching them. The fence is leaning way over too and is very unsteady.

  • "White Cross Bay grounds, reception, bar and restaurant area was very clean and well kept, the staff were very pleasant at all times."

Our first major disappointment was out of 3 bedrooms there was just nowhere to squeeze a travel cot in, our names and age brackets were given so they knew we had a 6 month baby. If we were told the bedrooms were so tiny and could not accommodate a travel cot we would certainly have cancelled even if we lost our deposit. The shower tiles in the en suite were really grotty, they had wet wall round some of the bathroom walls so why not inside the shower as well, it would have made it so much cleaner. As I said, tiny bedrooms, tiny wardrobe and def not enough space for 2 people, The living room, dining area and kitchen was fine, there was a washing machine which was a great surprise. Outside area good but with limited sun due to few trees at the front of the lodge, shading the sitting out area. The hot tub was great. We were 4 adults one 3 year old and 6 month baby, overall def not worth what we paid, would go back to White Cross Bay but not Woodside Lodge. What did you enjoy most about your stay? White Cross Bay itself is well kept and enjoyable What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Windermere lovely place but VERY busy but enjoyable day

    Mr John RyanJun 2017

  • "The lodge was in a brilliant location on the sit, very clean and tidy."

Everything in it what we needed I would highly recommend it and I would certainly book it again. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The hot tub and the garden around the lodge made it more private What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Bowness

    Mrs Susan CatterallMay 2017

  • "We had a fantastic stay at woodside lodge."

The lodge was amazing and I really regret having to say one small but negative comment. The bed in the master bedroom was really uncomfortable and hard to sleep on. But honestly it just needs a new matress. It would not stop us coming back as the overall lodge was fantastic. Everything you need is there and more. Great for the dogs and to unwind in the lovely hottub at night. We are going to rebook this lodge for next year. It's just beautiful. Had a fantastic time. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Everything What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Boat to Wray castle

    Mr James CroweMay 2017

  • "We absolutely loved our stay here."

The check in/out process was simple and the lodge was comfortable, modern and clean with all the facilities, equipment you need for a comfortable stay. The hot tub was brilliant, great addition and really made the weeekend special. The lodge was at the end of the park, surrounded by woods which was perfect, much quieter than the more centrally located lodges. The restaurant was fine, basic. Lovely to be right on the lake. Great stay, we'll be back, thank you. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Hot tub What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Cat bells

    Miss Cat GoldsmithMay 2017

  • "We absolutely loved our time at Woodside Lodge, it was perfectly located on the site it was not overlooked by any other Lodges and it backed onto the woods so very private."

The secure garden area was perfect especially since we brought 3 young children and a dog with us. The lodge itself was spotlessly clean and very well presented. The only negative thing I have to say is o understand there are grips on the decking and when you walked on these it was fine but as children do they like to break the rules, even if they so much stepped own foot off of the "gripped" area they were falling over. I found myself slipping a few times too so maybe this is something that could be looked at however this would not stop us returning. We have already talked about voting again this year and world definitely want to rebook Woodside Lodge. Thank you for the lovely experience we had at White Cross Bay. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The hot tub! What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Brockhole Bisitirs Center

    Mrs Rachelle WilkinsonMar 2017

  • "This is our 2nd stay at White Cross Bay, Woodside Lodge at 1st seemed as good as our last stay but various points need raised:- 1."

We had to clean the dishwasher that had old food along the bottom 2. Cleaned the washing machine as the seal around the door was extremely dirty 3. Cleaned most if not all of the dishes and cups/glasses before we used them 4. External decking and lower section is extremely slippy with a terrible solution of chicken wire nailed to the decking 5. Shower dripped all the time 6. Main bedroom toilet doesn't flush well and you need to flush a few times to stop the water from constantly flowing 7. Worst bed I have ever slept in Apart from these initial issues the stay was wonderful with great weather for late December. The road to the cabin seriously needs to be better illuminated but that is a park issue What did you enjoy most about your stay? Location location location What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Ambleside had beautiful shops and restaurants

    Mr Gordon LindsayJan 2017

  • "First the not so good stuff , seating could be more comfortable and lighting was very harsh in the lounge area."

Excellent location very clean and warm , good value for money , kids really enjoyed the hot tub under the stars at night. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Location and hot tub What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Scenery, local food.

    Mr Gavin MurrayOct 2016

  • "We had a fab Family holiday stay in woodside Lodge ."

It was a beautiful , clean Lodge & had everything needed for a weeks stay. The Hot Tub was great everyone loved it . It was ideally located for the dog to take on walks he was worn out . White Cross Bay is a lovely Park all staff at reception are very helpful , the boathouse served lovely meals & they were cheaper than we thought they would be. We took grandchildren to tree tops climbing which they loved & the Lakes Zoo . We will definitely be booking again next year. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Visiting all the different villages & Lake Windermere What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Tree Tops Climbing

    Mrs Jacqueline MackieSep 2016

  • "The lodge was in a great position but husband and I only stayed one night due to the bad condition of one of the single beds."

The springs felt as if they were protruding - very little coverage on them! This was mentioned when asked for feedback, but we were told that it is often a matter of 'personal preference' Not good enough. There was already a comment on the state of the beds from a previous occupant. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The position and the outside decked space. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? the short walk to the lake

    Mrs Sylvia LloydAug 2016

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Woodside Lodge."

We've stayed in a few lodges on WXB and this has become one of favourites. The lodge was clean and well presented and had everything we needed inside. Great outdoor area - a lot bigger than previous lodges we've stayed in (perfect for the dogs) & had 2 sets of outdoor furniture too. Hot tub was amazing! The indoor furniture (sofa and chairs) were a little uncomfortable but to be honest we were hardly in the lodge so not a major issue. Bedrooms are a good size, master bedroom has an en suite. Lovely lodge in a good location & on a great Park - would recommend What did you enjoy most about your stay? Everything! One of our favorite places to visit! What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Coniston water was a great day in the sun. Grizedale forrest for the little ones. Fell Foot park for a relaxing few hours and picnic

    Mr Chris FowlerJul 2016

  • "I booked this lodge with a group of friends, having previously stayed at Whitecross Bay last year."

We booked the stay at shorter notice than the previous year, therefore the choice of lodges available was not as plentiful. Woodside lodge is very nice, the layout is good with nice decor and the location is lovely and quiet. The en suite was very handy and the 2 double bedrooms were a decent size. The hot tub was very pleasant and as per the location of the lodge was nice and private. The outside area is very spacious, with plenty of seating, however it would benefit from a good pressure wash and general spruce up. The bunk bed room is 'bijou' to say the least, I doubt you could swing a hamster, let alone a cat. The Clubhouse is a 10 minute walk away, so we only popped into there for a drink whilst waiting for a taxi. We didn't use the onsite leisure facilities, as we were made aware that we could use the leisure club at Troutbeck for no additional charge. We made the trip there, and were more than impressed. Gorgeous facilities. Would highly recommend it. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The relaxing location of the lodge within Whitecross bay and the hottub. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Leisure facilities at Troutbeck.

    Miss Amanda RowellJun 2016

  • "The lodge is situated at the top of a quiet cul-de-sac, which was surrounded by a wooded area."

Good quiet pitch. Hot tub, great and kids loved it. Bedding and towels were provided and they were all clean and soft, very fluffy, not rubbish cheap ones. Kitchen well equipped and had washer and dishwasher. TV & Dvd player in lounge area and main bed room. loads of storage space, proper sized beds. We didn't;t use pool on site as the company we booked with had passes to a pool complex down the road, this suited our family better. What did you enjoy most about your stay? been able to spend time with family, completely relaxing break. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Brockholes - tree top trek & tree top nets. just down the road, great for young family, ours are aged 5 years & 9 years.

    Mrs Sarah MaligrandaJun 2016

  • "We (5 adults plus dog) arrived on a Monday afternoon at the correct time with the correct paperwork."

This meant that the welcoming staff could deal with us without any complications. We found the lodge, which was situated at the edge of the caravan park next to a bluebell wood, without much difficulty. The lodge was clean and tidy but we did find half a tin of dog food with a fork left in one of the cupboards. The lodge was as described and everything worked that should work - except the bathroom door lock which didn't exist. The neighbours were the owners of their lodge but were friendly and helpful if we needed anything. Bella the dog enjoyed the secure area for her to run in. We enjoyed the hot tub and the tranquility. We took the four or five minute walk regularly to the edge of Whitecross Bay where there was a small mooring area for boats and yachts and some lovely views. Days out were at Windermere and Ambleside - a very short drive away from the site. We were very fortunate with the weather which meant that we could sit outside on the patio. There was one slight electrical problem - a power outage which was not the fault of the site but was external. The site provided a barbecue at the main building and matches or lighters to deal with the lighting of the gas appliances in the lodges. The staff onsite were all very professional and couldn't have done better. All in all we had a lovely relaxing time in beautiful surroundings and Bella the dog didn't want to come home after enjoying her first holiday away. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The relaxing atmosphere What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Ambleside is a lovely town to walk round - it also has one of the smallest houses in Britain - Bridge House

    Ms Angela HurstMay 2016

  • "There was 12 of us we had this lodge and mountain view the mountain view was the better one as this was a bit shaded with trees but this one had the hot tub which was great all set up and ready to use we had a brilliant stay everything you need and excellent service from when we booked to leaving thank you all and keep up the good work we will be back x What did you enjoy most about your stay?"

    Mrs Pauline HullMay 2016

  • "Great lodge in a good position close to the lake, only downside that I could think off is the hot tub could do with a shelter as it is rather exposed to people walking past with dogs and when it rains ect What did you enjoy most about your stay?"

Comfort and hot tub What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Great restaurants in Bowness

    Mr Mark AdamsonDec 2015

Stunning views from the kirksones pass , one of the highest haunted pubs .

    Miss Joanne FredericksOct 2015

  • "Site is too full of lodges and caravans with no space between."

unfortunately the lodge is next to a walkway where people kept passing to go into the woods so didn't feel comfortable in the hot tub. Whilst the lodge was very clean the main bedroom and bathroom had a musty smell and felt damp. What did you enjoy most about your stay? the lakes What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? a day in the langdales

Lodge needed a deep clean although on surface it was fine. Bed uncomfortable. Overall ok. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Hot tub What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? South lakes zoo

    Mrs Teresa CramptonAug 2015

  • "I was disappointed when my family arrived at Woodside lodge to find that the small bed room with bunk beds was very dirty along the side rail of the bed both top and bottom, half eaten sweets & wrappers above the wardrobe, in the double bedroom I had to was and dry the bedding before sleeping in it as it was full of dog hairs I understand this is a dog friendly lodge but expect bedding to be clean also curtain have mould on them."

The outside seating areas were not suitable for use due to being wet and full of mould I understand these things happen but maybe it would be a option to put seats pads inside when not in use as this put a dampener on our holiday as we could not sit outside. The cooker also only had 2 rings working which was no use trying to cook for a large family ( this had been previously noted in guest comments book) Thank you Deborah McMurray

    Mrs Deborah McmurrayAug 2015

  • "I booked a four day break at Woodside Lodge for myself, my daughter, her husband and two children (under seven) in the middle of July."

White Cross Bay is very well located within easy reach of both Ambleside and Windermere. We particularly enjoyed the swimming pool, the quiet location of the lodge and the hot tub. There was plenty for us to do and see including Hill Top via Hawkshead Ferry, Wray Castle (by ferry) and the Grizedale Forest (for walks and cycling). Woodside Lodge was comfortable and well equipped apart from the lack of oven to tableware in the kitchen and it would be helpful to have a bedside lamp in the twin bedroom. The children particularly liked the bunk beds although the room was very small. Overall we all enjoyed our stay at Woodside Lodge. Elaine from Merseyside What did you enjoy most about your stay? Relaxing and enjoying the area with family What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Grizedale Forest

    Mrs Elaine PhillipsJul 2015

  • "Stayed with family and friends."

We loved everything about this lodge, space, cleanliness and comfort. Had everything you needed. Great position that backed onto the woods, a wrap around verander with a fantastic hot tub that we used every evening. The restaurant served lovely food at a very reasonable price. Would definitely go back to this lodge. The only downside was that we didn't stay long enough. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Everything. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Hot tub

    Sandra FlaxmanJun 2015

  • "We have visited the site on many occasions but this was the first time at Woodside Lodge."

The lodge was in a good location with plenty of outside decking. There were two sets of wicker outdoor seating and a jacuzzi, all of which were well used by ourselves during our stay. Would we stay again, definitely. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The lodge was clean and animal friendly What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Brockhole is on your doorstep if you visit this lodge, well worth a day out.

    Mr Carl NaylorJun 2015

  • "Our lodge was situated right at the end of the caravan park so it overlooked the woodland & whilst washing up in the morning I watched a deer walking through the woods - such a lovely sight!"

The only downside to the lodge was the bunk bed 'bedroom' it was more of a cupboard to be honest, you had to squeeze through the door to get in & out of bed - I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem for small children but we expected a standard sized bedroom for the price we paid. Everything else was great especially the hot tub! What did you enjoy most about your stay? Hot tub What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Motor boats on the lake

  • "The location of the lodge was quiet and scenic."

The hot tub was easy to use and very welcome after a strenuous day of fell walking. Patio furniture cushions were damp when we arrived - despite furniture cover securely fastened. It might be an idea to keep cushions inside when not in use? Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Location What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? An easy drive to Thirlmere valley and a lovely walk to High Rigg - lovely tea room on the farm by the beck!

    Mrs Mary PatrickApr 2015

  • "We really enjoyed the cottage, it had everything we needed and it was all clean and ready for us when we arrived."

The hot tub was really relaxing and we all enjoyed it. The heating works very well and it was great to be able to set the heating to our liking. Overall we loved the cottage. The only two things I would say is that the mattresses in the two single bed bedrooms I think should be replaced soon, they are too soft and not very comfortable. Also, the furniture in the lounge area was not to my liking, the sofa and the chairs were not very comfortable. However, minor aspects to point out. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The location of the cottage, the corner position gives it more privacy, it's the best plot in the resort I think. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Boat trip from Bowenn to Ambleside

    Miss Patricia Masterson AlgarApr 2015

The lodge itself has a perfect location within the park for those wanting peace and quiet. The hot tub is a great bonus after a long days walking. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Location within site, peace and quiet, children loved the hot tub. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? • "The lodge is nicely located and the hot tub is quite private and kept in lovely condition."

The lodge is warm and comfortable and the bedding is excellent quality. The bunk room is very small and quite a tight fit for parents dealing with young children I would imagine. • "We stayed for 4 nights Monday through to Friday at the end of September."

On arrival we were pleased with both the cleanliness and facilities of the lodge - simple things such as dish cloths, paper towel and dishwasher tablets had been provided. Hot water was available constantly and the heating was on but we didn't really need it. The lodge easily accommodated 3 adults and a small dog and for comfort I would suggest only 1 further adult it would have been a squeeze for 6 inc. 2 children. The hot tub was an added bonus and although we weren't able to use it on our first night as it had been cleaned (reassuring) we made the most of it during the rest of the stay. We didn't use the outdoor furniture as it was a little chilly! The only recommendation I would make are for mirrors to be available in the bedrooms - drying and styling your hair was a bit of a challenge! The facilities at White Cross Bay were fabulous as were the staff - from the point of taking the booking through to us leaving the customer service was excellent. I would definitely recommend the lodge and White Cross Bay. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Peace and tranquility What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Windermere Lake Cruise

    Mrs Tracey JonesOct 2014

  • "Property booked as it had been recently refurbished & could accommodate 6 adults & was dog friendly."

The third bedroom was little more than a corridor with bunk beds; it was not really fit for purpose. The other 2 rooms were a good size & were fine. The en-suite bathroom was a bit grubby & actually had a leak from the toilet which had clearly been there for some time; it was surprising that this had not been located during cleaning. The lounge area had only 4 easy chairs, but this was inadequate for 6 adults. The decking was very slippery & potentially dangerous. The hot tub was excellent & well maintained. What did you enjoy most about your stay? location & good walks for dog. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Kendal golf course.

    Mr Duncan MccreeOct 2014

  • "The twisting roads through the site make it slightly confusing to find your way around - however this is well worth it because it makes all the cabins feel very secluded."

The checking in and going to the cabin was made very easy and it was easy to find everything we needed in the cabin. The hot tub was well worth it and we enjoyed walking around the site as well as going further afield. We didn't try out the bar, although it did look very nice. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Watching our friend swim the 10 miles of lake windemere and then relaxing in the hot tub (supporting is hard work :)) What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Exploring the footpaths around lake windemere

    Mrs Antonia WhitakerSep 2014

  • "We had a great time at wood side lodge would definitely recommend this lodge and location lots to see and do plenty of places to eat near by."

    Visit the nearby visitor centre

    Mr Tom OsinSep 2014

  • "An excellent, quiet location and lovely, roomy lodge."

Large, secure, decked area perfect for young children. The only negative was the poor cleanliness on arrival- several pieces of broken glass beneath sofa and generally rather dirty flooring throughout lodge.

    Mrs Jo JonesSep 2014

  • "Wonderful location in a quiet part of White cross bay, lodge backed onto the woods and we saw several deer, rabbits and a fox during our stay."

Lodge itself is very clean and tidy, plenty of space for a family of 4 and probably more outdoor space than any other lodge on the site. The large hot tub was clean and ready to use as soon as we arrived and was regularly checked and cleaned out as we left. Kids loved the hot tub and spent every day in it, sometimes twice a day! The lodge is very private and even though people walked their dogs in the woods behind, it always seemed quiet and peaceful. The kitchen was well equipped and it even had a washer dryer which came in very handy for drying towels, as it does ask in the park info that towels are not left hanging over the decking. The only thing that would of helped in the kitchen would have been a couple of baking trays and some eggs cups. We stayed for two weeks with two small children and ate most meals at the lodge, so these few kitchen bits would have helped us. The dishwasher is a real bonus! The park itself is well maintained and excellent for families, we ate at the onsite pub a few times and the food was not bad at all. The kids loved being able to play on the children's play park whilst waiting for their food to arrive. We used the pool a few times, as use of the pool, sauna, Jacuzzi etc is now free (there used to be a weekly charge). Overall we would defiantly recommend Woodside Lodge for anyone wanting a relaxing holiday, excellent accommodation in a central location in the Lake District. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Peace, quiet , relaxation and the hot tub. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Wray Castle is great in wet weather for anyone with younger kids.

  • "The lodges you cannot really fault."

They are lovely, clean, tidy and in a perfect location ideal for groups of friends, families and couples. The main thing that spoilt the holiday a little was the service on arrival. I had not received a confirmation email with the key code and therefore could not get into the lodges. We were left waiting outside for at least15 minutes, with a less then apologetic owner and staff member on the phone pleading with them to resend it. So not a great start, however it certainly improved. Also there seemed to be a man walking around our lodges, which was quite creepy, and then another man who shouted at a guest for being in the hot tub 'too late' one evening. Impolite and not ideal. The area as a whole however is wonderful, picturesque and highly recommended. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The hot tub What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Crags Adventures - Hot tub
