  • "Unfortunately, we were disappointed by the lack of cleanliness when we arrived."

There were a number of cleaning issues that meant the property didn't feel ready for guests. It's a real shame because the property itself is lovely. Thankfully Lakelovers dealt with it quickly by sending emergency cleaners who were amazing and spent nearly 2 hours cleaning the property. The condition of the property experienced on arrival would make us think twice before booking it again (we stay in Grasmere regularly) I hope this feedback is taken on board, as improving the cleaning standards would make a significant difference. A clean property is a basic expectation for any guest stay, and unfortunately this was not reflected on our arrival.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are genuinely sorry that the cleanliness of the property did not meet the standard you rightly expected on arrival. As the designated cleaning company, we fully acknowledge that we should have ensured the property was thoroughly prepared prior to your check-in, and on this occasion our service fell short. We would like to reassure future guests that this issue related to our cleaning service and should not be viewed as a reflection of the property's quality or overall standards. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and disappointment this caused at the start of your holiday. Following your report, we attended the property as a matter of urgency and carried out a further clean to rectify the issues identified. We are pleased that the emergency cleaning team were able to respond quickly and improve the situation, although we fully appreciate that this should not have been necessary during your stay. Your comments have been taken on board and reviewed internally with our team to help ensure higher standards are maintained in future. The property has recently been renovated with the majority of the property having been updated along with a new bathroom, beds, sofa, log burner and more. Thank you once again for your feedback, and we hope that despite this disappointing start, you were still able to enjoy your time at The Barn at Grasmere and the surrounding area. Lakelovers Team. • "Really lovely property with amazing views!"

Parking was easy. Beds very comfortable and the curtains in each room really keep the light out - no need for separate blackout blinds that we often bring for the kids. Very quiet and peaceful location and yet at the same time felt central to everything in Grasmere. We came with our two sons and it was a short walk to a great park where they could kick a ball around. Loads of great walks right from the doorstep. We barely used the car. Would love to come back.

GRASMERE

Ambleside 5 miles; Windermere 9 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family has been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century, and Grasmere Lake. Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere, and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.
