  • "Daffodils is a lovely cottage but we just had a few niggles with the property."

We couldn't get a couple of the radiators to work, one of them being in the main bathroom, the other in the dining area. There was a slight smell of damp in the living room area which I think would have dissipated had the heater in the dining area worked. We didn't have WiFi which we did report and was told the owner was aware. It took a few days to find the instructions to work the hob (instructions in the drawer under the TV) seeing as we have a gas hob at home and have never used an induction hob. We tried YouTube for instruction videos, but the videos wouldn't play due to no WiFi and the mobile signal wasn't good enough to support playback. Overall a lovely cottage in a nice, convenient location, a bit of a tight squeeze for 4 adults if we'd had friends join us. In the end we left the cottage part way through our holiday.

  • "It was lovely to stay in such a clean house- even the frying pan was perfect."

It would have been nice to have some information about the history of the cottage and housekeeping information such as where and when to put out the rubbish.

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside with its numerous shops makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips, and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and the lakeside at Waterhead with parkland offering lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach. A walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre. Ambleside has plenty of restaurants and pubs to suit all tastes from great fish & chips to its two Michelin Star restaurants and all tastes in between are catered for.
