The property

Walkers Retreat is a cottage located in Keswick, Cumbria, within the Lake District National Park.

It is a lovely base for families, friends or a couple keen to explore this well‑loved part of the county, boasting proximity to a river, lake and local amenities, and also welcoming three well-behaved pets.

Park the car in the designated space and take a moment to appreciate the convenience of this central setting, where the rhythm of Keswick is close by, and everything feels within easy reach.

Step inside into the hallway, where there is hanging space ready for coats and walking gear, setting the tone for days spent exploring and evenings returning with muddy boots and stories to share.

The reverse‑level layout places the bedrooms on the ground floor, creating a calm place to rest after full days outdoors.

The king‑size bedroom offers a welcoming retreat, while the single bedroom is thoughtfully arranged with a mirror and wardrobe, ideal for a child or an additional guest.

Nearby, the bathroom provides the option of a long soak in the bath or a refreshing shower, with a heated towel rail adding a touch of comfort at the start and end of each day.

Climb the stairs to the living space, where natural light fills the carpeted living and dining room.

A leather corner sofa and armchair invite you to settle in, whether that means putting your feet up with a book or gathering together in front of the electric fire, which adds warmth and atmosphere beneath the mounted TV.

A Velux window brightens the room during the day, while the dining table creates a natural spot for shared meals, card games or planning the next adventure.

A short set of steps leads up to the kitchen area, where mornings begin with coffee brewing and evenings unfold as meals are prepared with ease.

The layout works well for simple breakfasts before heading out or unhurried suppers after a day on the fells, with everything close to hand for relaxed self‑catering.

Outside the front door, Keswick reveals itself.

Independent shops, welcoming pubs, riverside walks and the town centre are all close by, while the weekly market brings extra colour and character to the streets on Thursdays and Saturdays.

It is easy to enjoy the town on foot, dipping in and out of cafés or strolling down to the water’s edge.

Beyond Keswick, Derwentwater offers classic Lake District scenery, where still mornings invite lakeside walks beneath wooded slopes, launches glide quietly across the water, and viewpoints reward gentle climbs with wide views back towards the town.

Bassenthwaite Lake provides a different pace, with open shoreline paths, shifting light across the water, and chances to pause and watch wildlife moving through reeds and trees.

Ullswater draws visitors with its long, graceful lake, where traditional steamers connect villages, lakeside paths trace the water’s edge, and fell routes rise steadily to sweeping panoramas.

Make Walkers Retreat your base for town days and fell adventures.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £350.
