  • "A wonderful stay in a very clean, rustic cottage."

Family of 4, kids age 8 & 6. No tv didn’t bother us - it was great to have a break from it. Good location for exploring the Yorkshire Dales, so close to Malham Cove, Bolton Abbey (a great day out, especially with kids), Skipton, Settle. If going to cottage in colder months, slippers are needed due to the stone floor, log fire made the cottage cosy, can’t wait to come back!

Lovely to hear you had a great stay…always welcome anytime! Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful relaxing time at Doffers Cottage."

There was everything we needed to be comfortable. Loads of interesting reads on the bookshelves too. The woodwork on the stairs, doors cupboards etc is a work of art and adds to the character of the cottage.

Lovely to hear that your stay was a positive one as it is our first season. We really appreciate your comments on the work that has been done, it has been a labour of love trying to keep the character of the cottage while trying to “modernise” it, Thank you too for taking such care too over your stay. • "A really beautiful, well thought out little cottage."

It was like stepping back in time but with all the modern luxuries you need. There's no television and we ignored the internet and had a really peaceful few days. The eclectic book collection is a great feature of the cottage and of course there are umpteen stunning walks right from the door to walk off the splendid Yorkshire breakfast at the nearby farm shop. We only wish we'd had longer in the area...and at Doffers Cottage.

  • "Lovely area, near many popular areas, cottage has all the facilities you need."

No TV which didn't bother us. Beds very comfortable, in a quiet area. Neighbours very friendly. Also you're near the pennine way , 5 minutes from the cottage. If you want rest and recuperation with lovely walks close by, this is the place to be.

AIRTON

Malham 2.5 miles; Gargrave 4 miles; Skipton 8 miles; Settle 6 miles.

The picturesque Dales village of Airton is situated in beautiful Malhamdale amidst superb open limestone countryside. The village was known as Airtone in the Domesday Book, and was originally a Quaker village. There is still a Quaker meeting house, along with a squatter's cottage on the village green and a Grade 2 listed old mill on the River Aire. Airton boasts a popular farm shop and tea room at Town End Farm, which is renowned for selling excellent local produce. Airton is a great starting point for walkers, with a route along the Pennine Way into Malhamdale, or you may wish to walk from Gargrave to Malham, via Kirkby Malham, where you will find an historic parish church and village inn. More energetic walkers should explore Calton over Calton Moor to Weets Top and Gordale, or eastwards towards Hetton. Nearby Malham is a magnet for visitors to the Dales who come to see Malham Cove, one of Britain's most impressive natural features. The Cove consists of a natural cavern or 'amphitheatre' of limestone rock stretching 75 metres in height and 300 metres around the perimeter. A steep walk up man-made steps is rewarded with a superb view across moors and limestone pavements to Malham Tarn - the Pennines' highest natural lake. Airton is a wonderful central location with Skipton, Settle and Grassington all within easy reach of this Yorkshire Dales village.
