  • "Overall our stay at Badgers was good."

    The location in Sedbergh is great, with lots of walks on the doorstep and pubs and cafes in the town. The Dales and The Lakes in touching distance. The property was ok, and it had everything we needed for a week self catering but there were a few things we had issues with. The back door lock was very difficult to open. It took a lot of patience and jiggling with the key to open the door. The so called enclosed garden wasn't as expected. it was a little gated courtyard and then a shared access to a narrow lawned garden which had been left to get very untidy. The toilet seat in the bathroom was loose and did not fit and there was a light bulb missing from the wall light behind the sofa. We did feel the place could do with a good ole spring clean too. These are just a few things all of which could be easily rectified. Overall though, we did enjoy our stay and the kitchen and bathroom and all the linen were lovely and clean, and comfortable.

  • "The property was well equipped, lovely kitchen with everything we needed, the bedrooms were lovely and comfortable bed, also the shower was really good, toilet seat was loose despite previous comments, also the back door lock needs replacing despite previous comments it took us a long time to unlock this door, and the back yard really needs tidying up we did enjoy our stay though but the property needs a few maintenance jobs doing which wouldn't take long to do."

  • "Badger's is a lovely, spacious, warm comfortable base from which to enjoy the beauty of the surrounding area."

    We don't have a car, but were able to enjoy stunning walks directly from the accommodation every day.

  • "The was a few issues the back door couldn't be opened."

    There was an iron but no ironing board. There was no live TV as no aerial. There was no tea towel or oven gloves. When stripping beds the mattresses were stained and the pillows were also heavily stained with sweat. No protectors on them. Overall it was clean and cosy and we lived the area.

  • "Lovely property in great location grassed area needs some maintenance as overgrown."

    No tea towel (I think this was an error) would be nice for some kitchen roll to be provided also otherwise everything you could need. Only minutes from Main Street. Parking difficult but tend to find this with in street parking and bug the owners fault. All in all a great weekend. Food at The Red Lion is amazing.

  • "Great cottage and location it was a great base for us a family of 4 and a dog."

    Th3 the cottage was spacious and comftavle thete are some fantastic walks and lots of things to do on your door step. Parking was a little hit and miss but thats to be expected on a busy street. And where as the cottage is dog friendly people with smaller dogs might want to watch as they can slip through the gate. And the grassed area isn't gated not that this affected us as the village is so nice and has plenty door step walks.

  • "Lovely cottage in a gorgeous village."

    The scenery is outstanding. Cottage had everything we needed. Sedbergh has lovely walks on your doorstep and my daughter loved all the book shops. Had great days out at Cautley Spout and went rowing on Windermere. The only thing that i would say is the grassed garden area is not secure for your pets only the yard is and grassed area was overgrown so couldn't use but other than that, we would love to return

  • "Overall, we had a lovely stay and everyone slept well."

    The only shame was that the back outdoor area available was unkempt and unusable. The only other suggestion would be a microwave.

  • "My partner and I enjoyed this cottage."

    It is easy to access, has generous facilities and is comfortable. The cottage features an eclectic mix of furniture that makes for a comfortable space. The gigantic kitchen was fantastic and well-equiped with allsorts. The bedrooms were cosy and comfortable, though I would suggest that some of the sockets be updated since they were quite old and some unreliable. Bathroom was nice, although the shower struggled to maintain a decent temperature, almost like the combi was struggling to keep up with the demand. We also struggled to figure out the heating but, since it was summer, this wasn't a problem anyway. In summary, I enjoyed this cottage and Sedbergh itself and certainly wouldn't mind staying here again.

    Convince location in town. Only a few maintenance niggles but that’s probably Sykes! Nice views both side and worked well with teens and dogs.

  • "We have loved staying here the past 2 years to come to the Sedbergh 10s rugby tournament."

    It is a great base, close to everything which made it so much easier. It is spacious and clean and comfortable. We will recommend it to the rugby families for the next year.

  • "Badgers is a lovely cottage that I'd easily recommend were it not for a few maintenance issues."

    Loose tap fixture, very loose toilet seat, bulbs gone, TV legs broken, broken velux blind in attic room. I contacted Skyes to let them know for fear of being charged for damages. The owners did fix the lose tap quickly but it's a shame, neither the cleaner or owner hadn't addressed the maintenance issues before our arrival. The cottage was lovely, comfortable and amenities were decent. The oven wasn't the easiest to figure out despite mfr instruction book. A dummy guide in guest book would've been useful. A bin in 2nd floor bedroom would've been handy and a privacy blind in the shower/bathroom. Parking was hit n miss whether you could park outside the cottage but wasn't an issue, great location, easy to walk into village and an 8min walk to the Spar for groceries. Pubs were nearer and decent. Decoration was lovely, nice touches, very modern. This could be a very highly recommended.

  • "Lovely cottage and great location, right in the heart of Sedbergh and within walking distance of all amenities."

    It was wonderful waking up to the sight of the rolling hills, especially at the back of the house.

  • "Lots to like about this house and the set up."

    would rent it again and ... The water tap in the kitchen and the shower head leak constantly which seems such a waste of water. It would be great to have a shoe rack and airer by a radiator to be able to dry wet boots and jackets for walkers - just a suggestion

The attractive old market town of Sedbergh (pronounced Sed-Ber), with its old-world atmosphere, is not only set in the magnificent western dales of the Yorkshire Dales National Park but is also close to the rugged eastern fells of the Lake District. The town, with its narrow streets, little shops, traditional pubs, famous school dating back to 1525 and its 12th century church, has been a thriving community for hundreds of years, with a market dating from the 13th Century. Leading from Sedbergh is Dentdale, the jewel of the Yorkshire Dales with its rolling hills and dry-stone walls, stretching 14 miles from the windswept moors below Whernside to the confluence of the Rivers Dee and Rawthey. At the centre of the dale is Dent, with its cobbled streets, which has existed since Norman times and nearby Dent railway station is on the renowned Settle-Carlisle railway line. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, and fishing, and the area is a paradise for walkers, ramblers, runners, and cyclists. This, together with the tranquillity of the surrounding valleys, the two National Parks and it being England's book town, makes an ideal year-round holiday destination.
