"We had a fantastic stay at Howgill House."
The cottage was cosy and welcoming, spotlessly clean, and had everything we needed for a self‑catering holiday. The bathroom was especially luxurious, adding a touch of indulgence to the whole experience. It’s the perfect place to relax, and we’d happily return.

"Lovely well appointed cottage in a quiet location."
The owners appear to have thought of everything.
Good base for exploring the Dales and Lakes.
66 steps to the Dalesman Inn for excellent food and a good choice of drinks.

"Really well appointed house, close to all amenities."
Everything you needed was there although operating the oven/hob did take some reading of the instruction manual!

"It’s a lovely property, really beautifully restored - and we appreciated the goodies on arrival."
It’s right on the door step of a couple of great pubs (the Dalesman - fantastic food - and the Thirsty Rambler, both a stones throw away). You can also go on some great walks, straight from the back door. It really is in a fantastic location.
We went as a family of 4 - I’d say the living area is more suited to 2 people.
Kitchen was well equipped.
While the bedrooms are lovely, there’s only a few coat hangers and drawers in side tables for your clothes so more suitable for a weekend break (for our group). Although we just left most of our stuff in the cases so that was fine.
Beds were soft and bedding was very warm, some of us liked that and some of us didn’t.
Bathrooms are beautiful especially the one on the first floor, which felt very luxurious, and the radox was a nice touch.
Overall a great cottage in a lovely area.

"A truly beautiful property which has been upgraded to the highest of standards."
The photo-book in the sitting room illustrates the extent of the work undertaken. The house is warm, cosy, comfortable and has all the facilities you could need for the most perfect break. Situated a hop and a skip from the facilities of the village centre, it could not be more ideally placed. A wonderful property which we would love to return to.

"Fabulous cottage with everything you would ever need, home from home, extremely comfortable and right in centre of Sedbergh."
Always lovely to see a property being saved, renovated and this has clearly been done with love with family ties.
Plenty choice to eat out and on doorstep.
The only slight issue we had was operating the induction hob and oven on the 1 night we ate in. We couldn't find the instructions but this was quickly resolved after finding the instructions on the Internet. Maybe a replacement copy might help future guests.

"We really enjoyed our stay in sedbergh and loved Howgill House and its proximity to the main street."
The cottage was very modern, comfortable and clean.
We had a few issues when trying to heat the living room (underfloor heating) Due to chronic lung issues, we could not risk using the log burner. An anti slip mat was required in the upstairs ensuite shower.

"We (my daughter and myself) had a lovely week long stay at the house and it was so nice to be staying at somewhere that felt so homely and welcoming."
Furnished and finished really well with all conveniences catered for we throughly enjoyed our stay. Information about the house itself was clear and all the additional local area detail, including local walk maps was a nice touch. Communication with the owner was great and we would very happily return again. Highly recommended.

"Lovely house in a great location, cosy and quiet."
Beautifully presented. Sedbergh itself a lovely place.
A few practical suggestions to make it even better:
1. Lounge TV was too complicated to use. In part, this comes with the advent of subscription services but this one is something else. Unable to access Sky and Netflix (previous occupier had not logged out), Freeview (other than BBC3!) and even any Terrestrial. Something called "LG App" had to be got past to get what we eventually did, BBC iPlayer.
2. Oven too complicated to use. Someone had hand-written in additional instructions but these did not provide the answer. The manual is badly-transcribed into English. Eventually we worked it out.
3. Skylight windows (Velux) MUST have blinds. Most people want to sleep a full night in the dark.
A decent lettings agency has to inform a property owner to "Keep the tech. simple" and "Sleep requires quiet, warmth, a comfortable bed/bedding and darkness".
