  • "I read all the previous negative reviews on this but I found this lodge to be clean and comfortable."

    There was no toilet roll etc but was prepared having read previous reviews. The only points for me were clearer instructions on how to use the boiler would be welcome as it freezing when we got there and struggled to figure it out but YouTube helped. Also it would have been nice to have some Christmas decorations up given we stayed over Christmas. However the beds were comfy, the place was clean and it has everything you need. Loved the music system. Would stay again to be honest

  • "Location is stunning, accommodation is first class."

    Just a couple of small points, internal door hinges need WD40 and you need to supply an extra toilet roll.

  • "Had a great break away with the family, loved the lodge and felt very homely."

    The rule booklet stated “dishwashing tablets and bin bags would be provided” which they wasn’t. We contacted the company and they said they’d drop some round for our 4 day stay, but never did we had to buy them ourself which wasn’t cheap from the nearby store! When following the rules to remove the bedding we found dried blood stains and yellow stains on the pillows and which looked like dirty footprints. The sofa has a big black stain and the floor had burn marks

  • "At first glance I thought wow this is lovely wee ducks at the water and grass we love this but then we spent the 1st night and we found pills and high in googled and they have come up depression tablets I would attach a picture if I could, I then go to see if there is a hoover and there is a dingy brush not enough to give is a good brush out I spent the 1st night scouring this lodge for tablets anything that put my kids at risk I have an autistic child who eats everything so my worry was she would ingest it, there wasn’t any cleaning supplies there was nothing the cups and plates were dirty, I kept wiping down tables it was very bare there literally wasn’t anything in the lodge apart from a tv bed and wardrope, I think the owners may need to look at adding wee small touches like sauces cleaning supplies a hoover we ended up leaving as I had anxiety we stayed out the lodge for two full days only going back at bedtime but come the Sunday it was pouring down and I couldn’t watch every move of my child as I had 4 with me so we left, and won’t be back!"

  • "I booked the caravan for my mum who was recovering from a knee op."

    When she arrived there had been a fire on the decking! 2 chairs burnt outside!! No outside table was promised these would be replaced nothing come of it, Decking uneven it Needs replacing my mother had a fall and left 2 days into her holiday. Filthy decking area that looks like it's never been cleaned, blinds broken inside. Owner was contacted but nothing done. Dirty pans in cupboard. Skyes was no help what so ever. I'm absolutely disgusted sykes not to mention the owners

  • "The location is great."

    The property itself is good. If you intend to be out most of the day and evening then great base....but if you intend to chill then the traffic on the main road spoils it. Light sleeper would also have issues at night. We had great weather and went out all the time, it's therfore less of an issue. Just missing attention to detail for very good. A box of tissues, more loo roll, cobwebs.....such little things that are easily rectified for a very good feedback.

  • "Dirty dishes left in dishwasher, dirty pots and casserole dish left in drawer, food left in cupboards, broken toilet seat in main bathroom ( left just on too of bowl), boiler didn’t work to heat radiators."

    Missing cutain tie backs and previous residents coat stuffed behind sofa!! Next door arrived with 2 barking dogs which mounted the side of their deck and looked like would jump over. Couldn’t get into property as they were still cleaning after 3.30 pm. Would not recommend this property to anyone. Really gone down hill since our last stay last summer

  • "Comfortable lodge."

    The 2 twin bedrooms are small, however they are ok for a short stay. It would be useful to have a cloth for wiping down surfaces and some washing up liquid for individual items when not using the dishwasher, also oven gloves. Due to an oversight, towels hadn’t been provided, however the owner arranged for some to be sent over.

  • "The lodge is clean, spacious and is in a very nice location."

    The view is fantastic and is accessible to shops. Great for families with children. It would be great if there was a holiday guide that told us about local tourist spots. Highly recommend.

  • "As a family this was our 2nd stay we loved the lodge can't fault the scenery, and the layout, plus comfort of the beds."

    However this time round we found was lacking on the cleanliness. Leftover mess under the sofa (understand somethings are missed), unstable dining chairs which had to be unused. Broken wireless headphone in oven which caused massive concern as oven was used that could have been a fire waiting to happen, luckily spotted before use, cob webs everywhere inside. I understand that it could be from previous people who stayed who miss treated the property but I imagined cleaners or the owner should have spotted these issues and rectified before another stay. But overall we still managed to have a great stay.

  • "The lodge was beautifully clean and comfortable and very well appointed."

    The site it’s on is really nice with the lodges looking over the lake. The lodge is close to the entrance so traffic noise from the main road can be heard.

  • "When we arrived at the property, on the 15th December 2023 at 3pm, the first thing we noticed was how very cold it was inside the Lodge, there are no obvious things, ie room thermostat after we eventually found the central heating boiler, there are no instructions of what to do."

    I phoned Sykes cottages and spoke to a young lady explaining the situation she said she would contact the owner and get back to us. 1hour later no reply call from Sykes cottages it's getting really cold inside the Lodge, we had just driven 295 miles from Weymouth Dorset, we are tired 75 years old and cold. I phoned Sykes cottages again and was told that they were unable to contact the owner but would keep trying. That was the last conversation with Sykes cottages, then on either Monday or Tuesday 18/19 December Sykes cottages contacted us to ask how we had got on. Shame on Sykes cottages, no doubt that you will totally ignore this report, are simply pass the blame on to someone else. So that is our first and last experience with Sykes cottages. Mr G Marsden.

  • "Stayed in this amazing lodge in November was brilliant start to finish, 10/10 for cleanliness everything there to keep going if you dont want to adventure out but also plenty to do if you like to sight see."

    If you are a keen fisherman certainly worth the visit my partner likes to fish carp he got 8 out ranging from 11lb - 25lb. Excellent for all family's not just fishermen we loved it that much we've booked again for June.

  • "Had a fantastic stay the kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed plenty of storage in the bedrooms for clothing."

    The lodge was nicely decorated modern and spotlessly clean. We were lucky enough to have nice weather to sit out on the decking and enjoy the views. When we arrived we struggled to find the lodge so I would recommend more info on location for anyone visiting for the first time. We made some great family memories and would love to come back again thank you

Neslted in the Ribble Valley district and situated between Whalley and Clitheroe, is the charming village of Barrow. The popular village is home to the Clitheroe Golf Club, a good selection of pubs serving local ales, restaurants where you can sample the local delights with a delicious meal and well-stocked convenience stores with all the essentials. Barrow is the perfect tourist base for those looking to get out and explore Lancashire, with walks along the River Ribble right on your doorstep, as well as the National Trust site of Gawthorpe Hall just a short drive away. For a fun-filled day out, the Bowland Wild Boar park is nearby and offers the chance for visitors to feed the local animals, play areas, river walks and tractor rides, a perfect way to immerse yourself in local village life. For those do not feel like driving, Barrow and the village of Whalley have their own local bus routes which has direct access to much of Lancashire.
