"The cottage was lovely and cosy, very clean, and in a great location, the nearby pubs serving great food, sunday, lunch at the black bull was fantastic, great location for some lovely walks, really enjoyed our time here."
I’m so glad you enjoyed your stay, especially because I know the weather was
variable for you. You packed a lot in, even getting up Winder and to Farfield Mill, you said. You’re right, the little town has very good, friendly eating places which are all the better for being so handy to walk to.
Thank you so much for your review.

"We had a very nice stay at Mountain View."
Clean and tidy in presentation.
Once we had spoken to the owner to get some appliance and heating instructions it was very comfortable. A beautiful setting with a lovely view from the lounge window. We found some lovely walks from the cottage and enjoyed walking around the small town of Sedbergh. Rear garden was small but nice although there are some steep steps down onto the grass which made it quite difficult for our older dog.
The cottage was well equipped with everything needed if you wanted to cook your own meals. Thanks for the thoughtful welcome pack which was much appreciated.
Hope to return again at a later date

"The cottage is delightful."
The views of the Howgills are incredible. The beds are very comfortable. We are experienced cottage renters and were grateful for what the owner provided above and beyond what is required: tea, coffee, dishwasher tablets, washing detergent and a welcome basket. This took us back positively to how cottages were set up 20 years ago. We will definitely be back xx

"We had a very nice weekend at Mountain View."
The cottage provided all the amenities necessary for a comfortable stay, including friendly neighbours and an abundance of birdlife that visited the garden. The area itself is very peaceful and tranquil, with some great walks to be had in the local area

"Lovely cottage."
Garden was fab for the dog to wander about and make friends with dog next door. Kitchen fine but could have done with a freezer for some ice and icecream. Lovely hot powerful shower. Parking is tight- you need to have passengers exit and park tight up against the wall so you don’t block the road. Host was great with lots of useful info.

"It would be helpful to have a folder that included helpful hints and tips."
Although this information is available on the Sykes email, the address of the cottage, emergency contact phone number, key code. If in a welcome folder it’s easily accessible for all occupants.
How to use the white goods (microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, T.V , central heating) also in case of emergency where the fuse box and stopcock were.
I did find a folder with the WiFi code and refuse collection dates so everything else could be included in there.

"Fabulous cottage."
Great location. Absolutely in awe of the wonderful view. Loved the little touches like the extra fluffy towels & lovely quality white bedding. The kitchen was very well equipped and I liked the sturdy M&S pans. The neighbours were very friendly & welcoming. Not so sure about the cockerel next door though at 4am!! Not sure what you can do about him though

"What a lovely Cottage."
It had everything you could possibly need. It was spotlessly clean & comfortable. The Kitchen equipment was excellent, everything you could possibly need to make a full meal if you weren't eating out. The bathroom was exceptionally good, with a brand new suite. The highlight of the Cottage for us was the view from the Garden & Main bedroom, it was amazing, overlooking the Fells - I really think you need to put a picture of the view on the website. It was a nice touch from the Owner ringing us before we went just to let us know different things in & around Sedbergh. Overall an excellent stay, we would definitely recommend the Cottage.

"Definitely delivers on it's promise of mountain views, outstanding location being central to both the lakes and dales."
Lots of dog walking routes, some more challenging than others but our cockerpoo was up for them. Dog friendly pubs including Black Bull Inn that does excellent food. The cottage is well equipped and the owner couldn't have been more helpful and we appreciated the lovely welcome package. We had a great few days and will be back

"Lovely property, clean and tidy, good parking, great location to either get out onto the fells or into town."
Nice bottle of wine to welcome us too ☺️
Overall a wonderful weekend stay and would definitely stay here again.
Worked perfectly for us, plenty big enough with a spacious kitchen/dining and seating area at the front and lovely warm snug/lounge at the back. Main bedroom is spacious with comfortable bed.
Minor suggested improvements that would help visitors.
1. The back garden could be made slightly more dog proof (for small dogs) if some mesh was on the right hand fence to stop littl'uns from wandering next door.
2. A few more instructions in the welcome book might be helpful. E.g. on bagging up rubbish/recycling/food waste, where to find supplies of large glasses etc (in the cupboard in the back room).
Overall, a wonderful place, thank you
Thank you, Simon, I’m so glad that you enjoyed your stay. My changeover team who work so hard to keep things nice for guests will be too.
I take on board the suggestions you have made and had not thought of either but can see exactly what you mean. I will let you know when they are done.
Very best wishes, Carolynne Cotton

"Was a bit cold and no instructions on the heating system"
Hello, thank you for your feedback.
With a gas fire in the kitchen, an electric fire in the sitting room and full central heating, with thermostats on all the radiators, I thought that it would be cosy for you. It is always difficult though to see things through unfamiliar eyes. I’ll try to make it clearer that I am always open to being called and try to sort things out swiftly.
I had had guests say recently, staying just before you, that it has been too warm and they had turned the radiators down.
But the week you were there was on the cusp of autumn and I regret hearing that you were a bit cold.
I take on board that full instructions would be helpful and I’ll do that.
I also think that both installing a Hive type system as soon as possible and asking the changeover team to check that everything is set correctly, before new guests arrive, are also things I could do to make sure the cottage is cosy on arrival, stays that way and that temperatures are reset after check out, if necessary.
Thank you again for drawing my attention to an issue that is bound to be even more important as Autumn progresses.
Very best wishes,
Carolynne Cotton.
