  • "This little cottage was perfect."

The hosts had left a bottle of wine, biscuits and flowers on the table, making us very welcome. It was beautifully decorated with gorgeous furnishings. Perfect for a couple. The village pub was a simple good pub. Very friendly. The shop opposite was very quaint. It sold a good selection of produce. You could get everything you could need. The cottage is in a great location for exploring the area.

  • "Auld Cottage was a lovely place to stay - rural location in a beautiful village but easy to get to lots of other places."

It was a very clean and comfortable cottage which has been restored to a high standard. Quite cosy and with everything you need. Flowers, wine, biscuits and milk on arrival and the owners were very attentive if you needed anything. Lovely walks from right outside the door plus a friendly village shop which was very handy. We had lovely day trips to Lincoln, York, Newark and Southwell plus local country walks. Hope to come back for another stay as there was lots more to see.

Tongue and groove style doors lead into the kitchen/diner, where a range master stove commands the kitchen appliances, with a centre dining table offering delightful mealtime moments.

Climb the beautiful oak staircase to the first floor and discover two attractive bedrooms, each with double beds and served by a contemporary shower room with sleek tiling and a walk-in shower enclosure.

Get to know your surroundings better by venturing on a leisurely stroll through the village, home to a modest selection of amenities including a local pub, The Plough, and a convenience store, where you can pick up any essentials.

Just over eight mile away lies the town of Newark-on-Trent, where you can embrace the rich local history as you tour the imposing establishment of Newark Castle and Gardens, and wander the galleries of the local museum.
