The property

Castle House Lodge is an enchanting detached house near Drymen, close to Loch Lomond, with off-road parking and far-reaching views across woodland and open countryside.

Set in a stunning rural setting, it’s a place to properly switch pace: close enough to the area’s big-hitters, yet tucked away for those who love returning to quiet skies and leafy outlooks after a day outdoors. Step inside and the home’s social heart immediately makes itself known: an open-plan living space finished to a high standard, where the kitchen and dining area are designed for holiday feasting and easy togetherness.

Start the morning at the breakfast bar with a quick bite before lacing up walking boots, then regroup later around the rustic dining table for long, leisurely meals.

Beyond, the sitting area invites everyone to gather, with a generous corner sofa and armchair positioned to make the most of those garden views, ideal for planning tomorrow’s route, sharing stories from the trail, or simply lingering with a film on the Smart TV. Sleeping arrangements are thoughtfully flexible for families or walking groups travelling together, with a ground-floor king-size bedroom and en-suite walk-in shower adding welcome convenience.

Upstairs, a twin room and a family room with two double beds offer plenty of space to spread out and a bathroom with a bath and shower over help keep mornings flowing smoothly. When it’s time to explore, Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park sets the scene for memorable days out, while nearby Buchanan Castle adds a touch of local interest.

Walkers can look forward to iconic routes including the West Highland Way and Rob Roy Way, and for a change of pace, plan day trips to Glasgow, Stirling, and Inverary for contrasting scenery and city-to-town variety.

However you spend your time, Castle House Lodge near Drymen offers a superb base for discovering this captivating corner of Scotland.

Drymen

Loch Lomond 4 miles, Aberfoyle 10 miles, Stirling 21 miles

The village of Drymen, nestling within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, was popular with Highland Cattle drovers in the 18th and 19th centuries due to its location and legend has it that Rob Roy MacGregor used Drymen as a base for his exploits against the Duke of Montrose. Today the village is popular with tourists who enjoy not only its attractive village green and selection of pubs, shops and restaurants, but also its location allowing access to Loch Lomond. The West Highland Way and the Rob Roy Way both pass through the village and nearby Conic Hill and mighty Ben Lomond and perennial favourites with walkers. Drymen is the ideal base for exploring most of central Scotland with both Stirling and Glasgow in easy reach. Drive up the west shore of Loch Lomond and explore further into Argyll with Arrochar and Inverary an easy day trip – just don’t be too distracted by the stunning scenery.
