  • "Although listing is in a lovely location and good access to the beach."

Unfortunately I feel let down from this break away. We decided last minute to spend NYE and the nights following away. We we arrived the accommodation was extremely cold, damp and also smelt of damp. From the pictures it showed an electric fire in the living area. Unfortunately this was not working ( except the light). This was highlighted to the owners who informed us it kicked out a lot of heat. Unfortunately it remained not working for the whole of the trip. Infront of said fire was placed a wallmounted radiator. I belive this was placed there as the fire was not working. We were instructed to use the oil heater, which did not work. There was a small wall mounted heater in the bedroom and small fan heater in the bathroom. This Unfortunately did not heat up the accommodation. Luckily we brought hot water bottles ourselves otherwise it would have been too cold. If the heating was at an acceptable level other aspects wouldnt have been mentioned, however the other aspects added to this poor experience. The curtain pole fell and hit us on the head, the drawers in the kitchen were stiff and some didnt work. There was an old nail in the bathroom floor to stop the door from hitting the wall. Paint splatters on the wall and the old paint pots left in bedroom. Unfortunately it felt like we were sleeping in someone's cold shed rather than paid for accommodation. Tv and clean bed lining provided. Owners phoned when we couldn't locate the cabin in the dark ( kindly directed us despite being new years). This would have been so much more enjoyable if we weren't cold. I understand we booked at late notice however if the accommodation wasnt ready I feel it shouldn't have been advertised. If the heating was attempted to be fixed it would of been a better holiday experience.

  • "Lovely location and view and great parking because of solid foundation."

Unfortunately the smell of wet dog/dogs was overwhelming and very unpleasant and hygiene was also poor with dog hair on cooker and in the bed and also food on cooker controls. The gas ran out first day and even when replenished later the kitchen boiler did not heat the water sufficiently so we had to boil kettles to do the dishes. Also no cupboard space for human food.. the sight of dog treats was unpleasant.

I feel that this review is very unfair and has had a significant impact on our overall score, especially considering that you were only our second letting. We were unaware of the gas bottle issue and apologised immediately once you informed us. We resolved the matter as quickly as possible and spoke with you directly on the phone, during which you did not express any additional concerns. On that call, I specifically asked if everything else was okay and you confirmed that it was. I then gave you my personal number and asked that you contact me directly if any issues arose so I could resolve them quickly and efficiently, with minimal disruption to your holiday. As I received no further calls or messages from you—and no mention of any smells or odours—I assumed everything was fine. The guests who stayed immediately before you (and who loved their visit) did not have pets, and we use a reputable, professional local cleaning company for every changeover. I am genuinely sorry if our pet-friendly lodge, including the complimentary dog treats we provide for guests’ pets, caused any offence. However, we will no longer be offering treats in future to avoid any misunderstanding. If you could please forward the photos of the dirty sheets or chalet that you mentioned, I would greatly appreciate it, as I pay a considerable amount for our cleaning service and would like to address any issues directly with them. With all this in mind, I am very sorry that you did not enjoy your stay, although I do feel a 1-star rating is neither fair nor reflective of the situation, and it has had a substantial impact on our score and on us personally. If you would like to discuss some form of incentive for a return visit, I would be more than happy to accommodate you, and hopefully you would enjoy your next stay much more. If this is something you would be interested in, please feel free to contact me directly on 07950 245285 Property Owner
