The property

Tucked away on the rural outskirts of the charming Powys small town of Rhayader, lies the delightful, three-bedroom holiday home of Howling Point.

A single-storey property, originally a gamekeeper’s cottage, with elegant, well-appointed living areas set across the ground-floor, this charming dwelling boasts off-road, gated parking, an enclosed lawned garden with a wood-fired hot tub and gorgeous views overlooking the lush Welsh countryside and mountains, making it an idyllic choice for a family or group of six friends, seeking a refreshing retreat to Mid Wales.

This property has been specifically designed for those with dogs, as the owners have many dogs themselves.

It is also ideal for those who love walking, mountain biking, or if you simply wish to get away from it all.

There are no close neighbours to this property, but there may be livestock in adjacent fields in the Spring.

Park up outside your new home-from-home and take a moment to breathe in your tranquil new setting, gazing out upon rolling hillsides.

Inside, discover an array of tastefully presented living spaces, starting with a fully equipped kitchen/diner that houses all the appliances you’ll need to prepare a delicious, home-cooked dinner.

Savour your meals together at the dining table in the living/dining room, before you kick back and relax in the sitting area, where a Smart TV invites you and your loved ones to enjoy a movie marathon, all the while kept warm by a woodburning stove set into a rustic brick fireplace.

As day rolls into night, head outside with a glass of your favourite tipple to toast your getaway on the outdoor furniture, or why not indulge with a soak in the wood-fired hot tub, staring up as the starry night begins to appear overhead, after all you are staying in a Dark Park area.

When sleep eventually calls, be sure to refresh with a shower before you finally settle down for a well-earned rest in one of the two king-size bedrooms or a super-king-size, all of which house their own Smart TVs, and offer a space where you can fully relax and unwind ahead of a brand-new day.

If you can tear yourself from your wonderful new lodgings, head out to explore your local area.

A brief drive or walk will bring you into the heart of Rhayader, where you can find several convenience stores selling homely essentials, The Triangle, The Crown, The Elan and Ty Morgans that serve up traditional pub fare and The Lost ARC café, where you can sit down to enjoy a relaxing cup of tea.

Make sure you also visit the Hafod Hardware store a must and only down the road.

Whilst in town, stop by the former site of Rhayader Castle, embark on a scenic amble along the Waun Capel Wildlife Walk, a serene trail that runs adjacent to the crisp waters of the River Wye.

Gilfach Nature Reserve is just 3 miles away a short drive or scenic walk.

The lane at the end of the drive is part of the Wye Valley walk (which stretches some 136miles).

You are a mere 5 miles to the famous heart of Wales Elan Valley with six dams, reservoirs, wooded walks, visitor centre, cycle hire and more.

Make sure you stop off at Penbont House tea rooms, this is a must.

If you wish to head West, the coast is only a 40minute drive away by either main or scenic mountain road.

Or why not visit the famous Devils Bridge 20miles away?

If you fancy venturing further afield, you’ll find a range of noteworthy attractions within a short drive, including the Red Kite feeding centre, Historic Llanidloes, Clywedog Reservoir and Dam, Silver Mountain, Bwlch Nant yr Arian Forest Visitor Centre and more.

If you want to make a day of it, head south to the magnificent Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, where you can discover the National Showcaves Centre for Wales, the breathtaking Henrhyd Falls, Craig-y-Nos Country Park and the National Trust Pont ar Daf, from where you can begin your ascent to the wonderful peak of Pen Y Fan.

Travel North and you enter the realm of Snowdonia.
