  • "We stay every year with Skye’s cottage’s The White House was very comfortable and was well equipped."

    The situation was excellent for walks. The were a couple of things that need attention in the house but nothing that would stop us staying here again . The owner came to say hello and make sure we had everything we needed for our stay.

  • "Beautiful property."

    Amazing views. Lovely and quiet. Dogs loved running about in the garden and loved sitting in front of the fire at night. House was warm and cosy. My family and I had a great weeks holiday. If I could change anything it would be the mattress as they were uncomfortable due to being hard. And more towels left for us all as we only had one towel each for the week.

  • "Having been to Several Sykes property’s all good the White House was by far the best."

    The property was in an excellent location with stunning views if you like it quite.the house itself was in was very very clean and spotless with every thing you could require.the beds were very comfortable and the on suite showers very good.could have done with some grab rails in ground floor on suite showers for disabled help. Log burner got living space lovely and warm on the night we used it. Thank you to ffion for rescuing us when our sat nav took us wrong and coming out and taking us to the house. It was lovely after a day out just watching the sheep while we had our evening meal. The family even named some of them.thank you again for wonderful stay in your superb house could not wish for better and no matter where we go again this will take some beating. C

  • "Absolutely lovely cottage, very clean and modern."

    Downstairs bedroom with en-suite was perfect for our dad who can’t do stairs. Loved the local area, we were lucky to be there when Montgomery had their street fair. Also thank you to Ffion for arranging flowers and balloon for my sister’s birthday.

  • "Beautiful big house in the most peaceful location."

    So relaxing being able to sit and watch the sheep and cows grazing in the fields as well as all the little sparrows coming to sit on the fence. Our favorite place was to sit at the table with the doors open just looking out at the view. Lots of space for everyone and it has everything you could need. The bedrooms and bathrooms are all lovely and tastefully decorated and the whole house was spotless. A great place to stay if you are in the area

  • "We absolutely loved our stay at White House."

    We were a large group of adults, toddlers, dogs and 4 cars, but there was plenty of room. It's a stylish well-appointed house but also very functional, warm and comfortable. The open plan layout provides a sociable living area, there are plenty of bathrooms and a good sized utility room for dogs, wellies etc. The kitchen is very well equipped. We had beautiful spring weather, and the outside space is brilliant for toddlers and dogs. The views from the house and garden are beautiful - the patio has sun almost all day, and the children loved watching the lambs in the field next door. There was a delicious welcome pack of local milk, eggs and Welsh cakes, and Ffion, the owner was very helpful. The area is lovely rolling countryside - extremely peaceful and quiet. We can't wait to go back!

  • "We had a most excellent stay at the White House, it really is in a beautiful part of this country, scenic, peaceful, surrounded by nature, and with far reaching views."

    Close to Montgomery, Newtown and Welshpool with an abundance of pubs and restaurants to try. Its a dog friendly property which we really appreciated, with fencing and gates so they can roam freely to their hearts content. Nice personal touches including dog bed, blankets, towels and bowls. Some wonderful touches for us humans, including dressing gowns, toiletries and the owner Ffion checking in personally with us.

    Such a lovely setting, and an amazing well equipped and well appointed house. Everything from the kitchen facilities down to the final touches in the rooms and bathrooms exceeded expectations.     The house is beautiful and very well equipped to a high standard. We visited in November and the underfloor heating was a real treat. The hosts were lovely, they left us some fresh bread and milk.and popped in to check we'd arrived ok and see if we needed anything. Highly recommend The White House.

  • "I read other online reviews before booking this property, a lot was written about the comfort and facilities of it."

    What wasn't mentioned so much was the outlook. The house is in the middle of fields with just cows and sheep for company. The views are stunning. Simply wonderful!

With fabulous contemporary features like underfloor heating and an excellent range of kitchen appliances, along with the rustic charm of exposed beams and an inglenook fireplace, White House has all you need for a wonderful stay in the village of Llandyssil near Montgomery.

Relish quality time with your loved ones within the serene sitting room, where large plush sofas including a classic Chesterfield offer a relaxing spot to settle, with a woodburning stove within the fireplace to add extra warmth, you can enjoy a film on the Smart TV or simply continue the conversation over drinks.

Discover a wonderful social space in the kitchen/diner, thanks to the stylish breakfast bar you can keep the chef of the group company as a delicious meal is prepared, with a large range cooker and gas hob and an American-style fridge/freezer at your fingertips, with more appliances to make use of in the utility room.

Beneath bright spotlights and atop the sleek tiled floor, make your way to the lovely circular dining table to serve up dinner, perfectly positioned before the floor-to-ceiling windows in the patio doors to afford you scenic views while you dine.

Pull on your walking boots and prepare for adventure along the famous Offa's Dyke Path, with this 8th-century route carved out by King Offa, now offering 177 miles of walking trail to enjoy which loosely follows the Welsh/England border; hop on in Montgomery and head north to Welshpool or go south into the stunning Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Spend an afternoon visiting the amazing National Trust Powis Castle where ornate interiors and a wide Indian collection are sure to impress, along with the beautiful castle architecture and grounds.

Go back in time by taking a trip on the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway, travelling 16 miles by narrow gauge steam train through the picturesque Mid-Wales countryside, it's a lovely and leisurely way to enjoy the views.

More history is to be discovered at Montgomery Castle with these Norman ruins dating from the 11th century, whilst The Old Bell Museum is a locally-run museum set within a 16th century converted inn, now telling the history of the local area with exhibitions and collections.

The town of Montgomery sits just one mile from the border of England in Mid Wales. Popular with tourists, the town has a delightful selection of individual shops and a variety of pubs and restaurants, including the Michelin star restaurant, The Checkers, a fabulous way to make your holiday truly special. Pay a visit to the ruins of the 13th century Montgomery Castle, which enjoys beautiful views over the town’s timber-framed houses and cobbled streets, and beyond across Wales. The castle also hosts productions of touring theatre groups regularly during the summer. A few miles to the south is the historic market town of Bishop's Castle, an excellent place for a day or night out with its excellent pubs, live music and festivals throughout the year. The wider area is wonderful for walking and there are many cycle routes in the surrounding countryside with varying levels of difficulty. You can venture further into Wales with a drive up to the Snowdonia National Park, or directly west to Cardigan Bay, for the day, or hop back over the border and explore the Shropshire Hills AONB. A charming destination for a holiday.
