  • "We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this property."

Everything we could have needed was at hand. It is an excellent base for days out. Very spacious. Many properties will advertise the number of people able to stay (eg. "sleeps 8"), but this often leaves little room to 'live in', however, this property left ample space for the recommended number advertised. We would definitely recommend this property (and already have).

However we totally love the cottage and could quite happily live here, just needs a little loving!

Plenty to do around the site especially if you like the outdoors, or the occasional gin (gin tour available within throwing distance). An excellent enclosed garden with plenty of space for dogs to run about, especially for the pups that love a ball being thrown. Will definitely make a return visit!

  • "We have stayed here on 3 other occasions."

It was always clean and tidy and Health and safety obviously taken in to consideration. It was therefore a shock to find that the old outdoor garden table and chairs were abandoned in the middle of the lawn. In addition it is really very bad workmanship on the new decking and garden table. Screw tips are sticking up on the garden table and if you were unaware and ran your hand across the surface it would rip your hand open. We had a four year old with us so had to keep him away from the table. In addition the decking you can see where the screws have been put in and actually miss fixing the decking all together. On the day of arrival we arrived one minute early but then waited for the lovely cleaner to leave. We then found that in the conservatory the floor was filthy under the chairs. This was not the standard it used to be and I feel sorry for the owners as I feel the property has been badly managed in their absence.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback these issues, and I sincerely apologise for them. I have asked our handyman (who did not assemble the table - I will be contacting the company concerned) to have a look at making it safe as this is obviously unacceptable. I have also been in contact with our cleaning company to ensure that all areas of the house are spotless. I am very disappointed as the house is usually exceptionally clean. I hope you enjoyed your stay despite these concerns and hope you return once again. Property Owner

  • "Absolutely gorgeous cottage."

Loved it. Beautiful location, stocked with all the essentials, spacious, nicely homey decor and touches, deck to make use of good weather, great water pressure for showers. If there was only one thing I could change, it is that the downstairs double bed was not very comfy, but given the comfort and facilities of the rest of the cottage that is just a small feedback. Would 100% recommend - as close to perfect for us as we have ever had.

I am so glad you enjoyed your stay. Next time I am at the house I will have at look at the double bed downstairs with a view to replacing the mattress. I hope you return in the future! Property Owner

Thanks for your comments, and I’m glad you enjoyed your stay. We had an engineer out to the boiler the week after your stay and it is now working as it should. Hope to welcome you again in the future! Property Owner

So much to see and do, Steam Train ride, Landmark, Highland Wildlife Centre, wee train ride at Grantown East, also visit to distillery on door step, what an amazing family holiday we all had. Would highly recommend. Hope to be able to come back again.

Thanks for your comments Gina, I am glad you enjoyed your stay. The sun room is my favourite too and I have spent many quiet happy hours in there with a book and a cuppa (or g and t depending on the time of day!) We would love to welcome you back in the future. Property Owner

  • "The double bed downstairs needs replacement, it needed replacement a year ago when we stayed too, 3 mattress toppers just doesn’t fix a naff mattress and wonky bed!"

Sad that there is no longer an open fire in the living room! Also, a reported problem with the TV never got sorted out. Picking up someone else’s dog poo was not a great start either!

Thank you for your comments Hilary. As you will know from the Welcome Booklet and Comments Book I urge guests to clear up after their dogs. I don’t know what more can be done, you just have to hope that most guests are responsible dog owners. After your stay last year we invested in a good mattress topper. I will look at it again when I am next up at the house and will check with the cleaners but I am not aware of any other guest comments about that bed. Sadly the chimney flue needs replacing and the cost is not feasible at this moment, especially as the fire is really 'cosmetic' and not actually needed for warmth. I’m sorry about the TV, I was not aware there was a problem? Certainly Sykes never got in touch with me. I trust however you enjoyed your stay, we always enjoy welcoming guests back. Property Owner

I use the word “cottage” loosely as the property is massive and extremely roomy. The setting was beautiful and the garden very secure which was absolutely brilliant for our 2 Jack Russell dogs. Towels, bedding, toilet rolls and pump soap all provided which makes for an excellent start to the holiday. Only 4 miles from the small town of Grantown on Spey and a well stocked CooP and larger Tesco at Aviemore. Location is very central to explore the many towns, villages, beaches and spectacular scenery. This property is a straight 10 out of 10 !! Oh and a piano in the dining room!!

The views from the house are amazing & we all loved sitting in the sun room or outdoor decking area. The house provided plenty of board games to entertain the 4 teenagers that were with us, but there was no actual ‘games room’ as advertised for this house. The house provided lots of extras facilities too like beach chairs, bbq etc. We loved that the house also looked on to the Caorunn Gin Distillery, which is definitely worth a visit to their Gift Shop. It was even bigger and better than the photos show. The sun room is a lovely space even on a dull day. Although in a quiet hamlet it is only a few miles from Grantown-on-Spey for all your shopping needs. It was an ideal base for exploring the woods, rivers, lochs, mountains and history. We enjoyed the cycling, much of which is off road with a range of mountain bike trails and old railway lines and green ways. The coast at Nairn is about 30 minutes' drive away. By far the best equipped cottage we have stayed at. Very pet friendly and you can tell that the owners are dog lovers. The locals and the nearby Gin Distillery were fantastic at helping us with advice when we arrived, there was a fair bit of snow on the ground and advice was given to drive the wrong way around a one way system to avoid a little hill which was impassable for our car, this did NOT in any way spoil our holiday but made us feel like part of a small community. There were a few items not working in the cottage but we made a note in the maintananc log, again none of this really caused any problems. We have already booked a return visit for November with some family members that have not had a holiday in years. We have no hesitation in recommending Corriemhor Beag to anyone, really loved the place.
