  • "Lovely bungalow in a quiet area ."

Only one improvement that could be made is a new mattress on one of the single beds. From reading past reviews we know that the wooden beds were placed with new divans, but the bed my daughter slept on the mattress was uncomfortable.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay. The matresses on both single beds are new.How comfortable anyone finds a mattress is a very personal matter and we are sorry your daughter found it uncomfortable. Property Owner

  • "A few hours after arriving the boiler cut out leaving us with no heating or hot water."

We contacted Sykes who informed the property manager and we were contacted by him. The manager told us that an engineer was on his way but we waited for over 3 hours for him to arrive. The engineer told us that the boiler was not properly installed since the condensate was not being pumped out and when the box filled the boiler cut out. Our plans for the first day of the holidays were ruined. We came to Norfolk to enjoy the fresh air and not spend hours sitting in the cottage. The heating kept cutting out approximately every 18 hours and we had to empty the condensate box to keep it running. After the engineer came we let the property manager know that the heating would cut out again. Like previous visitors, we had problems with the bathroom sink not draining. The property has a gas fire, which would have been useful when the heating wasn't working, but we couldn't find an instructions or controls. The instructions said that there was a grey bin in the garage for non recyclable rubbish. We couldn't find it so had to put it in the blue bin. I am sorry to write such a negative review but the issues did spoil our holiday. It is a shame because the overall appearance of the cottage is good. It also has a well tended garden. Hopefully the issues with the heating and drainage will be resolved soon.

We are aorry about the issue with the boiler, which incidently was new in May 2024. The problem was extremely obscure and unexpected considering the age of the boiler but it has now been resolved. The bathroom basin has now had a complete new waste fitted as previous guests have damaged / broken the previous pop-up wastes numerous times over the past year. The bins are very obviously placed at the front of the property and clearly labelled as to what they should be used for, we don't quite understand where the reference to a grey recycling bin was to be found. • "On arriving at the property we had great difficulty in removing the front door key and had to ring the owner who told us we had to push the key in the lock to remove, this was very difficult."

The heating and hot water was also not working which was annoying after a long journey, we could not contact the owner but luckily my son in law helped. It worked until the last day when it failed again, a plumber was sent who said the boiler had been incorrectly fitted, hopefully this has been rectified for future guests. The gas fire shown in photos was also disconnected. The property was very clean and well appointed with spare bedding, a good selection of crockery, utensils and electrical equipment. Tea, coffee, pint of milk, sat and pepper and a pack of biscuits were provided. It also had a well appointed garden with furniture. However the reception for the TV was spasmodic.

  • "Potters Retreat is a in a very quiet location, we really liked our stay there The weather was a bit chilly and wet so we couldn’t enjoy the garden but there was plenty of space inside to enjoy, the tv was a bit tricky to work out but we got there eventually."

It’s a very well equipped bungalow . We only had one complaint I had to plunge the sink in the bathroom and kitchen , maybe this is something cleaners should check between tenants. But on the whole a great base for the week

Thank you for your feedback and we are glad you enjoyed your stay. We have done our best to make it "home from home" for all our guests. We are sorry you had issues with the sinks, this is not something we have had problems with previously and the cleaners do usually check that the sinks are free draining. We have advised them of your issues. Unfortunately, the TV signal in the area is very poor even though a new booster was fitted earlier in the year. This is more noticeable during times of cloudy and wet weather. Property Owner

  • "Property in good location and pleased that we were able to use the garage to store our bikes."

A very negative feedback from us was the dog hairs embedded in the carpets. The vacuum cleaner would only clean the hairs on the surface. When walking on the carpets big chuncks of hair would appear and no amount of cleaning would get rid of them. They appeared daily. It was not pleasant. Sorry to give such a negative feedback as the rest of the property was good.

  • "We had a lovely stay at Potter's Retreat."

Cottage was clean and spacious with some handy extras. The garden was perfect and secure for our dogs and with the comfortable furniture we enjoyed being out there too.The air fryer was a bonus as we use one for cooking most days at home so it made evening meals easy. The powerful fan was much appreciated for our dogs and us as we had some really hot weather during our stay. There was lots of storage room for our luggage and the main bedroom was spacious compared to other properties we have stayed in. Loved the sensored night light in the hallway and the filtered water. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Potter's Retreat and love the quiet area. We hope to return again in the future. Thank you.

Thank you for your review and positive comments. We are very glad you had such a lovely stay and would love to have you stay again in the future. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely restful holiday, staying at Potter's Retreat!"

Everything you need for a comfortable stay. Very comfortable seating in the conservatory to sit and read on a wet day! Lovely garden and seating. Close to places to visit and enjoy. Good for people who have some mobility issues. One step up to the front door. The single beds were rather low, for people with joint issues. Double bed very comfy!! Just one thing might help in the kitchen, a round pizza tin or 2 would be helpful. The pizza hung over the rectangle cooking tins! Thank you for a lovely place to rest and recharge!! Linda & David Hall

Thank you for your lovely comments, we are glad you enjoyed your stay. Within the last couple of weeks we have replaced the original single bed frames with single divan bases which are much higher as we had decided the original ones were too low. Property Owner

  • "We chose to stay at this bungalow as we thought it would be an excellent place to take my elderly Mum for a holiday."

We were extremely pleased with the level of comfort from sofas to chairs to beds. We did have to place one mattress on top of the other for Mum as the single beds are very low, so that worked out well for her. The King sized bed was extremely comfortable and we slept well. Our 2 small dogs enjoyed the garden as did we, and the comfortable conservatory was lovely for a morning cuppa and a read of my book. I was able to do some washing, used the dishwasher daily and the air fryer was just like home from home. I would have liked to have found a potato masher, but not the end of the world. Many thanks to the owner, we enjoyed your property very much .

Many thanks for your appreciation of our property. Our aim has always been to make it a home from home for our guests (and ourselves when we stay). We are looking at changing the two single beds which were originally aimed at younger guests which haven't materialised. Property Owner

The only down thing it could have done with a sieve in the kitchen. Soft mattress which we are not used to, a bit firmer would have been better, but we soon got used to it.

The kitchen is very well equipped lots of cooking utensils even an air fryer. The garden is totally enclosed which is ideal if you have pets or small children. I would recommend this property 100%

  • "We had a lovely stay lots to do in the area."

Accommodation was very clean and comfortable. My only issue was that 3 young guys came on the Monday to do the garden they opened the back gate and our dogs were in the garden. We hadn't been notified they would be coming. Also we put the bin out on Thursday as stated in the welcome book but it didn't get emptied. Apart from this which are minor things everything else was great.

Thank you for your feedback and we are glad you enjoyed your stay. I apologise for the gardeners, they are a recent engagement and this was their visit. I have now asked the gardeners to ensure they knock and make themselve known to guests. I have asked the property manager to check the bin collection schedule with the council as it does change at certain times of the year. Property Owner

  • "When we first saw the House, we were happy."

But on closer inspection there were a few anomalies. The furniture was nice and comfy, but the cleaning was poor and things inside seemed cheap and without care. The garden was particularly awful and had not had any care given to it, in fact we felt so bad, we even got the hose out and watered the plants which some were already dead or dying. Even the lawn was in need of maintenance. The first thing we noticed inside the house was a dirty Oven Glove which my wife washed immediately, then discovered the oven was dirty with burnt on grease. Everything else had a cheap feel to it, the cutlery didn't match. There was no "Welcome Pack" or message and no visitors book, I think we know why! The TV was awful and programs very sketchy, allowing that it was "Free View! We did get Netflix to work eventually, but £30 or £40 to an aerial company would be a good investment. I personally do not like Memory Foam beds, especially in the temperatures we had during our stay, but the very cheap and extremely low beds in the second bedroom were as stated OK for a 'very' small child perhaps but not for adults. Overall I would have to say, "Don't judge a book by it's cover".
