  • "A quiet and wonderful little cottage in Aylsham."

A great base for touring Norfolk and had everything we needed. The new shower and kitchen were wonderful - I particularly loved the smeg fridge/freezer! Would definitely recommend staying here.

Thank you for your lovely feedback. Much appreciated Property Owner

It was the perfect base for us and our Jack Russell to stay whilst visiting our daughter who is at UEA. There are so many places to visit and the cottage was delightful. The personal touches were most thoughtful...thank you!

    I'd recommend it to anybody.

  • "Family of four had a great week, exploring beaches the Broads and saw Dippy the dinosaur in Norwich Cathedral."

Perfect base to explore north Norfolk. We would recommend the local Indian restaurant and fish and chip shop. Cute shops in Aylsham to wonder around. Tesco's few minute drive away and co-op 5min walk. We parked down another near by road with no problems. The cottage is lovely and had everything we needed.

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed our week."

Valentine cottage was comfortable and the owner left us some essentials, which was nice. Neighbour found a parking space for us on the Lane, which we used for the week. Aylsham itself, is a small town with plenty of character, that probably hasn't changed in the last 50years. Nice pace of life. Very relaxing. Jewel in the crown. the Black Boys pub. Delicious food, good portions and good beer.

Only drawback is the parking which we were warned about so we knew what to expect. Wish we could have stayed for longer! Thanks again!

  • "Lack of bedside tables in the bedrooms was a disadvantage - a narrow, rather wobbly bookshelf on one side and nothing else on the other is not really enough."

The back bedroom has no room at all for bedside tables, and it would be difficult for two people to get in and out of bed easily without disturbance. Could not see how to open the tumble dryer (I think that’s what it was!) so unable to use it. Parking: recommend the public park in Oakfield Road, only a few minutes walk and safe at night. It says ‘short stay’ but many locals use it all the time. Or at the top of Town Lane on White Hart Road, where cars are left at night and seem safe. It really isn’t fair to suggest parking ag the bottom of Town Lane, where residents clearly don’t like it. Otherwise, all fine and Hayley was very kind to me regarding my two dogs.

Dear Mrs Barker, So sorry and disappointed to read your negative feedback this morning, especially considering I was obliging in making exceptions to your change of dates and to your dog(s) which in turn enabled you to visit your friend. Privileges that I don't normally allow but did given the circumstances. Sorry you found your stay a negative experience but thank you for your feedback as it has highlighted areas for improvements which I will be addressing immediately. The cottage is due a refurbishment in September which includes a new kitchen and bathroom. Property Owner

I was there with my dog and despite the weather we did some amazing walks. Coming back and lighting the wood burning fire was the perfect end to the day. Hayly was a great host and I would definitely stay there again.

It is well equipped and very much home from home. It is well situated for shops and amenities and Aylsham has everything you could need. Ideally situated to visit surrounding area. Although parking as forewarned can be a bit tricky we had no problems. We will definitely book again.

  • "Valentine cottage was very comfortable and suitable for our needs."

It was well positioned for local shops, pubs, tearooms, etc., and close to visiting family and a variety of beaches/towns. The cottage is situated on a narrow one way road and at times was tricky to navigate through the parked cars to parking on the next road. Even though the owner advised us to ignore the ‘illegal’ no parking signs outside some of the houses on the road she recommended us to park on, we did feel uncomfortable if we did park there but we were always able to park elsewhere along that road. I thought that due to Covid-19 soft furnishings, books/games, rugs, decorative pieces. etc would have been removed. Saying that, the cottage was very homely. We enjoyed staying in Hayley’s cottage and she was very helpful and always available if required.

Parking close to cottage is a bit hit and miss but we were happy to park overnight in a car park close to the Market Place which is 5 mins walk from the cottage.

  • "Beautiful cottage, well maintained inside and out."

One of the most relaxing UK holidays I have ever had. It is on a side street and it is so quiet, we spent many evenings in the garden and you would occasionally get the church bells ringing, it was just so relaxing. We didn't venture far as Aylsham is within 30 minutes of beautiful beaches and the North Norfolk Railway where you can aboard a steam engine in Holt and go through the country to Sheringham. The local amenities are perfect for a week away, a few shops and good quality pub serving excellent food. We would definitely return and recommend this beautiful cottage. Also the lady who we spoke to on collecting keys gave lots of helpful information on parking, directions and local places to visit.

Lovely garden. Aylesham is a great little town with good facilities but once you are in the cottage it feels like the countryside. Excellent walks and places of interest. Very well-maintained footpaths which are great for dogs and people alike. Two good pubs and food available. Only downside was having to go downstairs to the toilet in the night if we'd had a drink!

This is my third time staying I will most definitely be back! The wood burner is so soothing on cold days after long walks in the woods and having the bath to soak in on those days is also perfect! There’s a washer, dryer, everything you could need in the kitchen. And the two beds upstairs are very comfortable. That location and close proximity to town is just perfect with very convenient walks on your doorstep! I really never wanted to leave! You won’t have regrets if you stay here! Thank you!!

  • "Fantastic cosy cottage with all the comforts of home and more!"

We don't have the comfort and luxury of a wood burner at home and we certainly made full use of the one in Valentine Cottage. The location of the property was perfect in every respect for exploring Aylsham and everything it had to offer. The town itself can proudly boast numerous independent shops and businesses as well as the choice of food stores. The church is in the centre and stands very majestically surrounded by centuries of history. We really enjoyed our week long stay in both the cottage and the town of Aylsham and certainly hope to return when the days are warmer and longer to enable us to explore further afield without having to use the car!

  • "We will return and hopefully Valentine cottage will be available for our use."

Only one negative to mention - a water filter is needed as tap water used to boil kettle leaves an unpleasant scum in the mug. The Kettle needs replacing or de-scaling. We used bottled water after our first cup of tea. Meanwhile a bottle of water on arrival to use instead would be a good idea.

  • "The cottage was well equipped furniture and beds were comfy."

However, it would have been good to know that the bathroom was downstairs as it was difficult if you needed to use facilities at night. The kitchen appliances were not easy to operate and there was only instructions on how to use the cooker and no operating manuals to be found to help navigate use of the electric hob. Managed to get the microwave working by trial and error. The owner was difficult to get hold of and did not return our calls which was disappointing. Wifi was switched off so couldn't connect till we worked it out. Again no instructions left for guests use. It would have been nice to have had a basic welcome pack, at least, to tide one over. Garden was a bonus and the seating was comfy. It was close by the local shops which was very handy. Parking would have been a nightmare if not for a kindly neighbour at the top end of Town Lane who let us park there for the majority of our stay. Aylsham Town is a lovely place to stay and Norwich, Cromer and Blickling Hall were close by. Enjoyed our stay in Norfolk and will definitely visit the area again.

The wood burner is so fabulous to have in cold nights to cuddle up with family in front of. The owner, Hayley, very kindly supplied us with our first nights wood and offers to do so every night for the duration of your stay. The cottage is very well decorated with everything one needs for cooking. I was surprised to find a good sized bathroom with a fairly deep tub as I didn’t see that in the listing. The tub was perfect after days of long walks and it tucked the final boxes for all of our needs. Good sized beds, bedrooms and rooms. We will most definitely want to stay here again so much so that I would like to put in an offer should and Hayley want to consider selling it in the future! Thank you! Xx
