"I wouldn’t use Skye ever again."
I got double charged and I couldn’t get anybody to talk to me for days. In fact someone returned my message yesterday I was already home. This chalet was a little bit better than the other. But the diarrhoea stains all on the carpet when I had young children was absolutely vile. How hard is it to clean a tiny place like that properly.
We are available to all our guests via phone, text and email which is sent to you before you arrive. Certainly, on arrival to any property found in the condition you state that you found ours, I would have been phoning and asking the owner to sort it out. This is why we give our contact details to all our guests. I am also quite surprised how long you waited to leave this feedback. I have to say that I am gobsmacked by your review on two counts. Firstly, following your comments about diarrhoea stains all over the carpet…I would like to say…what stains…being so intrigued, I got down on my hands and knees and looked at every inch of carpet…no stains. As we clean this carpet regularly both by hoovering and shampooing, we know every inch very well. Secondly, I would love to know how you discerned these so called stains were caused by diarrhoea…We spend about two hours every changeover cleaning all our chalets.. We also were very surprised when our neighbours told us that you left your two dogs alone in the chalet, after you booked one in as a service dog. Additionally, not picking up your dog poop is against the sight rules posted in the welcome pack. Finally, you definitely didn’t leave the chalet the way you found it.

Found chalet not very clean sofas hard and uncomfortable radiator in bedroom not secured to wall toilet seat loose bedroom curtain ripped outside seat dirty had to clean it to sit onit avery tired property in need of avery deep clean we felt cheated that this property does not come up to sykes standard we have been very happy to use your company in the past but would be relucant to book in the future
We would like to respond to your feedback firstly to say thank you for posting it and would also like to address each point you raised.
Prior to each visit, a cleaner spends at least two hours cleaning and preparing the chalet for the new guests. Every time, there may be particular issues and problems that arise that may impact on the cleaning time. Before your arrival, the radiator you mention did require attention and before we left, was indeed secured to the wall. It has since been removed and replaced with a fan heater.
The ripped curtain was another issue we faced. We considered removing it but felt that as we had no time to replace this between a guest leaving and your arrival that for privacy reasons this was a better solution. Thank you for alerting us to the loose toilet seat. We will tighten or replace as necessary.
This has been a very busy summer for this chalet and while during less busy times, a monthly deeper clean is something we do, during the school holidays, there is no spare adequate time between guests leaving and arriving to do that deep clean you mention. However, every room is cleaned thoroughly. The sofas, much like mattresses can be very comfortable for some and not so much for others. I’m very sorry that these were uncomfortable for you. For many, these types of sofa are a very practical and hard wearing solution for the type of property the chalet offers.
Finally, the chairs outside are exposed to the weather as it happens. We could have cleaned, left and wind, rain, seagulls could all have left their marks on whatever is on the outside.

"Issues when we arrived, no water, owners had not turned it on, and also no wi-fi!"
Cleanliness was not a word to associate with this property, if you like musty; OAP vibe this is it! Spoke with owner who shared how to switch cold water on, although forgot about hot water (thank the Lord for the electric shower) as it was boil the kettle to wash up, and no black-out curtains in very small bedroom, which is a must with street light only 250 yards away. Owner brought wi-fi next day but that too was very poor, OK for checking e-mails but no Netflix or on demand with the shared use across site and this was not in high season. I think the owner needs to know that the hot water switch seems to work the shower and the hot water, this needs switching on at the boiler, but it was too later for our stay, and is there not a responsibility by the owner/letting agents to ensure that the hot water is checked (Legionnaires)? The electric heater in the main bedroom did not work and there was no facility to dry towels after a shower, the bathroom was filthy. Everything needed washing on return home! If it hadn't taken 8 hours to drive to this place, I would have demanded alternative accommodation, which is difficult with a fur baby in tow. Sykes should have paid us for staying at this barely 1* chalet, although the ants living in the kitchen seemed to like their accommodation. We will seriously review staying at a Sykes property again after this!! Belive me, this is a mild review!! NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER!! But the owner had been busy that week!!!!
Thank you for your feedback. We are concerned you didn’t have the holiday you expected. We are disappointed, that after your initial contact that these issues were not mentioned to us. I know that if there had been further contact, we could have helped to improve the quality of your stay. We are happy to be contacted in this way.
We apologise for the very small proofing error that slipped through mentioning WiFi. This chalet had no facilities for WiFi as well as not being advertised with Smart TV. This has always been an upgrade we intended to make. When, I mentioned this to you, I was horrified to find it in the small print although it was never mentioned in the tick list of provision at the top of the page. We came and bought our own personal WiFi At this time you could have mentioned your other issues. While I was at the site, I could have resolved these. There was no Netflix due to Tv not being a smart tv. It was never advertised as a smart tv.
While I might have ‘busy weeks’, this did not mean less effort or cleaning on our part. Our property was presented as described via photos and blurb with the one small exception.
We do everything we can to give our guests the best possible holiday we can. This includes cleaning thoroughly all areas of the chalet as well as making sure all our bedding and sheets are washed ironed and smelling fresh. The sheets are new this season, while all towels and soft furnishings are washed and ironed prior to every stay.

"Sorry to say it smelt musty when we arrived."
Chalet needs a deep clean and a few air fresheners. Beds were comfortable and kids loved the bunks. Welcome pack was very grateful. TV needed retuning before we could work out how to use it. No instruction for fire, sound bar so a bit hard to get them on. Electric tripped and it took a while to find the meter. Oven was abit hit and miss, worked the first time but couldn't get the oven to work again after that. All in all a very tired chalet in need of some tlc.
