  • "Enjoyed our stay here."

Gave it a 4 star on maintenance because there is an unresolved damp issue and paint was falling off some walls. Agree with other comments that there is quite a bit of noise, both from the street and from another flat on the other side of a locked access door. However, overall a great little flat in a fantastic location.

  • "I enjoyed my stay however was uncomfortable with the noise at night from the room in the extension (can access from the property but locked door)."

The property has a stairway for access so not great for anyone with mobility problems. Other than that it’s a great location only 2 mins from the beach and I liked the open plan design which was spacious.

  • "The location is first rate being in the heart of Aberdaron."

I think the layout of the flat is perfect the flat being on the first floor was clearly lit when it was dark. I certainly would like to go back again. Alun is a kind and attentive owner. He intends to fix two windows this week which we could not open. Again I would like to go back.

  • "The area & location are fantastic 10/10 but unfortunately there are some maintenance works needed to bring the place upto an acceptable standard."

Loose fitted taps made it difficult to use them, washing machine leaks massively on use & floods the apartment, paint peeling of walls due to damp in bedroom & bathroom, shower tray holds water & needed plunger on each use, outside lighting not working & is almost impossible to see when leaving & entering the place causing me to trip on the 2 steps next to the entrance door resulting in a sprained ankle, someone else living in an adjoining room only separated by a locked door with no keyhole cover & is able to see into our apartment during our stay, ironing board supplied but not usable, living area windows locked & unable to open them. We did mention to the owner at the ship hotel but he was unable to sort anything due to it being easyer bank holiday weekend & was also offered an extra nights stay & free meal on the day we we're due to leave but we'd already packed & loaded the car & to be honest wouldn't have stayed anyway with the things listed above. This place could be a fantastic place with some easy maintenance done but it did ruin it for us when we stayed.

  • "Loved our time here, it is so central to the beach, pub and shops."

The chippy next door is great, best chips ever. Apartment is very spacious and cosy with the wooden beams and the log burner. The washer and tumble dryer are very handy after a day at the beach.

  • "This accommodation is not for anyone who enjoys comfort."

Positives are that It is an open plan two bed with plenty of room and does allow pets. It is in the middle of the village so a great spot for the beach , shop and cafes. The ship and Ty neudd are right next door and Alun the host is a lovely man and can be got hold of easily as he is in the ship hotel (owns both properties). The Negatives are that the DVD was broken which on a rainy day (Aberdaron weather can fluctuate) is needed. Kitchen equipment is not great and the apartment required some maintenance. No information available on where to put rubbish etc, cleanliness could be better and there are two flights of concrete steps up to the property and no where to park outside which is not great when unloading the car (You do get a permit for the National Trust car park a short distance away). There is some noise early morning with deliveries and bins and weekends until late evening due to due to drinking in the ship next door. That said Aberdaron is a lovely spot and we have returned there for holiday for the past 5 years. Dogs are allowed on a section of the beach, the landscape is spectacular and Fisherman’s Cove and the Lookout are worth a visit. Truly a lovely spot for relaxation.

Apartment in need of general maintainence and there is a 3rd bedroom being built onto lounge area builder there on the Thursday needs a new mattress for double bed and new furniture in lounge 3 piece in an awful state there were no cleaning materials at all except a bottle of washing up liquid for me a bottle of bleach and kitchen cleaner is absolute basic we left on the Thursday didn't fancy workmen turning up on the Friday early and didn't feel relaxed there were no instructions as to how to leave the place I do like to know where I stand we have used in the past menia cottages and rhosneiger lettings and both very professional I don't know how often you vet the property's on your books but I suggest you do

The booking was very unclear - we booked for 3nights and didn't realise until the landlord told us that we had paid for a week. I've rung Sykes about this and will ring again.

  • "We have just returned from a lovely week staying here in Aberdaron with our two 15 year old daughters and our dog."

This is the second year we have stayed here. The location is fantastic and I love the open plan kitchen, lounge and dining room especially the log burner. The apartment is so well equipped. It can be a little bit noisy early morning with deliveries and bin collections etc but only to be expected as it is right next door to the hotel and pub. The noise really didn't both us though as we were so happy with everything else. Alun who runs the hotel and owns the apartment was very helpful and friendly. We love it here and have booked again for next year already!

  • "We had an excellent stay at Hen Blas."

Alan was really welcoming and helpful. He has done a great job in converting the flat, and it has a great feel to it. We loved the open plan, and it was very well equipped with wood burner, dishwasher/washing machine/drier and modern kitchen/fridge freezer and Wifi. Great position in the centre of Aberdaron. Warm and cosy with excellent central heating for a cold week. We wanted to mention a few things which we feel would help to improve it. Alan is aware we had a bit of an issue with the drainage from the shower, which happened throughout the week. It might need looking at. The toilet seat was loose, as were the kitchen taps. Just a few additions to kitchen equipment would make it even more home from home. A few basics were missing, such as- a large frying pan, cereal bowls, large mixing bowls, lemon squeezer, oven gloves, baking trays, hand blender and electric whisk. The roasting tin was rusty and old. We would have also liked to have more comfortable seating in the lounge area e.g.Two 2-seater soft fabric sofas, rather than the narrow leather chairs/sofa, as we didn't feel we could properly relax by the fire. Overall though the experience of staying there was very good, and we think these things would be simple to add. We come to Aberdaron every Easter, and would definitely want to stay there again with these few additions.
