  • "Great location in terms of being central in Betws."

    The fish and chip shop (with icecream) is just round the corner. Nice and close to shops and pubs / restaurants. Decent WiFi. The beds were very comfortable, and the big bath was lovely. The garden was nice, and well maintained. Parking was an absolute nightmare. Beware, despite being listed as having off road parking, this is not the case. Parking is on the road, if you can get a space. This could end up being really quite far away from the cottage. If you can’t get a space, which was tricky during the peak tourist period, then you have to park at the pay and display. This is a fair distance from the cottage (if you have small children). The cottage steps also lead straight down onto the main road through Betws, no pavement. This again proved stressful with young children, as that road is always busy. The fridge could do with replacing. We found it didn’t get very cold, despite changing the settings. The freezer had the opposite issue. It was full of ice, and getting the drawers open was a struggle. Needs defrosting. I think the cottage itself is overpriced for what it is. It’s very dark inside (pictures on the website have all been taken with the lights on). The pots and pans were also a bit poor, lids that didn’t fit pots etc. We had an okay holiday there, but didn’t enjoy it enough to stay again.

The property

2 Banc Llugwy enjoys a superb setting in the heart of the bustling town of Betws-y-Coed in North Wales, and is an appealing, traditional terraced cottage which is ideal for a family or couples looking for a getaway to Conwy.

Step up to the front door and you are greeted by a warm and welcoming sitting room which comes complete with period features such as original beams and traditional stone walls which together with the woodburning stove, help to create a really inviting ambience.

You can look forward to curling up on the sofas here, getting warm in front of the stove and spending time together or just tuning in and chilling out watching TV.

Whatever you choose to do, this is a really relaxing space.

The kitchen is well fitted with everything you need to be able to produce delicious food for the holiday party and when it’s ready to serve up, the dining room is the perfect spot to gather round the table, tuck into dinner together and enjoy quality holiday time.

Should the weather allow it, then the rear garden is a particular feature with lawns, a patio area, patio furniture and a covered barbecue area, somewhere you can imagine spending lots of time alfresco.

If you’re still feeling energetic then why not challenge each other to a game of table football?

Make your way up the cottage stairs and you can choose from the delightful master bedroom or the attractive twin bedroom.

Both offer stunning forest views from the windows and make for a really calming sanctuary, where you can look forward to some relaxation after a tiring day of getting out and about.

Look forward to an indulgent bath in the feature freestanding bath, or you might prefer a refreshing shower instead.

Come the morning and you’re in pole position for the best day out with loads of fantastic walks and hikes from the front door.

Stroll into the town itself which is known as the ‘gateway to Snowdonia’ and you need to plan a day trip to Snowdonia National Park, where there are walks for all abilities.

The famous spectacular Swallow Falls are just a few miles away and are definitely worth a visit as is Zip World which offers activities for everyone aged three and up.

Towns in the area worth a visit include Conwy, Caernarfon and ever-popular Llandudno.

Betws-y-Coed, known as the Gateway to Snowdonia, is North Wales' most popular inland resort.
