  • "Wonderful place to visit."

    Lots of walks in the area and very close to Portmadog. We hardly used the car as the neighborhood is amazing. We used the kitchen every day but still had options in the area for lunch or dinner. The beds were super comfortable and the shower extremely relaxing. The games room was an added bonus! The outside toilet and hose pipe were a pleasant surprise. Can’t wait to be back.

  • "Lovely property in a great location."

    The furnishing and decor was to a high standard throughout. Furthermore, the beds were really comfortable enabling a good nights sleep. Borth y Gest is a quiet, scenic village with just a couple of places to eat and drink. The sea view cafe is well worth a visit.

  • "The cottage was simply lovely everything you could want."

    However perhaps a warning sign about the height of the ceiling when exiting the kitchen (there is a sign but not in the kitchen itself). Also another hand towel would have been useful. But still a lovely cottage.

  • "This was our third visit to Bryn Derfel."

    The location and facilities bring us back. It’s a lovely house to relax and spend time in when the weather isn’t great, and we had some sunny days and very wet days this time. The house has always been clean and well presented on arrival but this time, it was absolutely immaculate. Parking is on road but plenty of space around the corner. With the beach on your doorstep, Porthmadog a short walk away and mountains and great places to visit nearby, what more could you ask for? I don’t this will be our last visit!

  • "A beautiful home from home."

    Tastefully decorated and furnished . Comfy beds. Views from the front towards the estuary. Beautiful walks on the doorstep. Lots to see and do in the area. We love this area and can't wait to return. We would definitely stay in this cottage and would recommend to others.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay."

    The cottage was lovely. Great comfy sofas, lovely soft bed linen, nice fluffy towels. Well appointed and very clean, the owners had thought of everything. Great little touches like the mini torches and the nice welcome pack including the gravy bones for our little pooch. We had amazing weather which added to the enjoyment . Would highly recommend , Borth y Gest and it’s beaches are very special.

  • "The owners have done an amazing job in transforming Bryn Derfel into the a wonderful home by the sea."

    Great location, a short walk along a scenic coastal path to a lovely sandy beach which is perfect for children, dogs and grownups! Seaview is a fantastic cafe in walking distance and Porthmadog is just a short drive away with its many restaurants, pubs and shops. The home itself is extremely comfortable, light, spacious and the owners had thought of everything to make our stay a huge success. Many thanks to them. We have family who own a property in the next road so for us Bryn Derfel and it’s location was 100% perfect and we will definitely return.

  • "Where do I start?"

    The property is stunning, the location is perfect, the owners have done a beautiful job renovating the house and we had a fabulous time! Everything had been thought about and provided for. We loved the games room, and being able to sit and enjoy the sunshine in the evening. You are close to everything yet far enough away to relax. Beaches and walks very close by, Porthmadog 5 mins away with everything you need. We would love to come back!

Nestled in the idyllic village of Borth-y-Gest near Porthmadog is this wonderful three-bedroom terraced house, Bryn Derfel.

Enjoying close proximity to the village’s picturesque harbour and all the delights of the neighbouring Porthmadog, Bryn Derfel is a fantastic dog-friendly dwelling for a group or family of six, plus their canine companion.

Park up at the roadside and be greeted by a charming front enclosed patio with table and chairs, the perfect spot for savouring your morning coffee.

Be welcomed into the well-equipped kitchen, featuring a handy dishwasher, here you can cook up delicious meals for your loved ones, ready to enjoy at the breakfast bar, dining table for six or alfresco in the rear enclosed garden which has two dining spots!

After dinner, why not savour the last of the day’s sunshine out in the rear garden, where you can sip a glass of wine out on the patio or raised terrace with lovely picnic bench and fire pit, before enjoying a game of table tennis or darts in the garage, which also offers plenty of storage for bikes and kayaks!

As the evening grows darker, retire to the contemporary sitting room, where you can snuggle up on the plush seating and select a family favourite on the Smart TV, as your pooch takes up their favourite spot in front of the electric fire.

Climb the stairs up to the first floor, where you can wash away the day in the large double shower, before catching your rest in one of three well-appointed bedrooms, a super-king-size with zip/link, a king-size with Smart TV and a single with truckle, all with plenty of storage for your belongings.

Explore your local surroundings, where you can enjoy leisurely walks along the harbour followed by a hearty breakfast or sweet treat at the Seaview Café Bistro & Coffee Lounge.

For a wider selection of amenities, head into Porthmadog, where you can explore the Maritime Museum, dine at the welcoming eateries of Banc, The Australia and The Port Café Deli & Restaurant, or hop aboard a vintage steam train and relax as you soak up the amazing views for 14-miles along the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways.

Other activities include the Traeth Glaslyn North Wales Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve, the Black Rock Llamas, the excellent Porthmadog Golf Club, and the golden sands of Morfa Bychan, where you can bathe, paddle the shores or take your kayak out on the Afon Dwyryd.

From here you can easily access the historic town of Criccieth, where you will find the remarkable Castell Criccieth, Criccieth Beach and the Castle Gallery.

For more of North Wales’ historic sights, head to Harlech, home to its own magnificent castle, or continue onto Caernarfon, with its Word Heritage 13th-century castle, Segontium Roman Fort, the Royal Welch Fusiliers Museum, and the Hanging Tower.

Those seeking the very best of the outdoors can venture into the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, where you can tackle the famous Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) Peak or enjoy a day of fun at the Zip World LLechwedd.

The bustling harbour town of Porthmadog lies on the Glaslyn Estuary and enjoys a stunning setting. The gateway to the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, Porthmadog is full of individual shops and restaurants, and home to the Ffestiniog Railway and the Welsh Highland railway where you can travel by steam through spectacular Snowdonia scenery, to Blaenau Ffestiniog or Caerforn . The pretty village of Borth Y Gest, with its cliffs and coves, is a short walk or drive from the town. The well known and unique Italianate village of Portmeirion is just down the coast. Situated on a rugged clifftop on its own private peninsula, Portmeirion, famous as the location of the TV show The Prisoner and the final episode of Cold Feet, is surrounded by miles of sandy beaches and woodlands. The area also boasts castles at Criccieth and Harlech, and superb unspoilt beaches such as Black Rock Sands, where the sands stretch as far as the eye can see. Also within reach is the famous Zip World Slate Caverns and Bounce Below where you can get involved with a variety of activities including the thrilling zip wires and underground caverns to explore; there is something here to suit the whole family. An ideal location for the attractions of Eryri (Snowdonia) and the The Lleyn Peninsula.
