  • "We were very disappointed with 31C South Snowdon Wharf."

    We felt that the flat was slightly grubby. There were muddy paw-prints on the inside of a window. When we came to strip the beds at the end of the week, we discovered several muddy stains on the sheets – making us wonder whether any of the bedding had been clean. We had no hot water all week, and we could not find any way of requesting help or advice. We tried phoning Sykes, but that didn’t help. There were no instructions for the heating, hot-water or TV. We also felt that the flat could have more storage space for food, and more hooks for hanging up clothes, coats, etc. We have had self-catering holidays every year for the past 20 years, many with Sykes, and this has been the most disappointing accommodation. The views from the flat and the location were excellent, and despite some soggy days, we had several very good days exploring the area.

  • "The location was superb, great views over the estuary and mountains."

    Perfect for the town and Ffestiniog Railway. Lovely little apartment perfect for a couple. The owner appears to have addressed some of the issues raised in previous comments. The re-occurring issue of lack of cleanliness has not been resolved. Front door dirty, not very welcoming. Inside property looked lovely with some cute decorations but cleaning was only surface deep. Cobwebs hung throughout like left over Halloween decorations including under the breakfast bar. The windows were so dirty that they spoilt the view. Cushions on sofa revealed dust, dirt, food debris, dog hair and a dog's ball!. Some spots of staining on sofa which would be easy to remove. There was spot cleaner there but clearly not used. Floor cleaned around furniture and certainly not under the bed. Black mould persists on wall behind the bed and before was dirty. Only 1 towel each and no tea towels. No mop either. Bed very comfy but pillows and duvet too thin. Bathroom was lovely with a great shower. I cleaned the property including the windows. The lack of cleanliness and basics mar what otherwise would be a perfect property. Sort the clutter out in the cupboards , clean the hoover ( it smells) address the cleaning issues abd you have got the best little place going.

  • "First of all this was not the nicest apartment we have ever had."

    It was smaller than we expected and therefore was very cluttered. The bed, although comfortable was too big for the room, leaving no space for a dressing table or drawer space. The kitchen was small and cramped, cupboards were full of unwanted items and needed a good clear out. There was no space toput our food etc. Overall the place needed a good clean, especially round skirting boards etc.

  • "Perfect location and view."

    Made most of because of beautiful weather. The accomodation layout was fine. Perfect fit the two of us. What disdappointed was the overall.comfition of the property. Not dirty as such but just very tired and some maintenance issues need to get dealt with. Flaking paint over the patio doors. Mattress cover was missing and the pillows were flat and tha sheet did not stay on the bed. Overall it needs a good spring clean and a bit of an overhaul. Shame because overwise it is perfect location

    I am sorry you would not want to return to the apartment. As you might imagine, guests do have accidents and both of the stains you mention are recent. A new rug has now been ordered. When it comes to mattresses, it is difficult to justify replacing this every time a guest stains it. We do provide a topper between the mattress and the sheet which is all we feel we can realistically do. In terms of comfort, the mattress is not old and in fact a number of guests have commented on how they like it. As the owner, I last slept on it at new year and found it to be very comfortable. I think mattresses are a very personal choice. I do hope this at least gives some perspective in terms of the practicalities of owning a holiday let, but I am sorry these issues spoiled your enjoyment. Property Owner

  • "The location was fantastic, amazing views from the property and within close walking distance of the town centre for all amenities."

    It was a very quiet area and we slept well. Unfortunately the property itself was lacking in some maintenance with a damp issue which you can smell as soon as you open the front door, mainly coming from the balcony leaking above and black mould on the wall under the bed which we only noticed on the last morning. The cleaning could have been better as there was some areas that were dusty, the bottle of hand-wash had run out in the shower room with no replacement available and the heated towel rail was broken. Not enough toilet rolls were provided, no tea towels or spare bin bags either. Will definitely come back to the area, but couldn't recommend the apartment, hopefully the owner will address these issues.

  • "31C South Snowdon Wharf."

    Only superficially clean. I dropped something on the floor and when I went to pick it up (at base of floor lamp) it was covered in cobwebs and generally dirty. Closer examination revealed the same around floor edges elsewhere. There is paint flaking off above the patio door, so much so that it’s falling off. There is a request that all doors be closed as a fire precaution but the door from lounge to entrance area fitted so badly that this was completely impossible. The whole place smelt damp and all clothing felt damp, horrible. It was very small and cramped so will not be using one of these size lets again. The location and vista was lovely and relaxing and general location for amenities etc was good. I would attach some images but it was not possible.

    Would not book this property ever again, had to clean all cuttalry, could not use oven as the trays were full of grease and just covered in kitchen foil, there was no mop, brush etc, extraction fan thick with grease,walls behind sofa black, broken deck chairs, in all who ever cleans for the owner not doing a good job, we left it cleaner than when we arrived

  • "A lovely location and well located for the town."

    This property was very compact especially in the kitchen area. We did think that night storage heaters are the best choice for changeable weather. We took the liberty of washing the patio windows so as to enjoy the view.

  • "This is a perfect, compact little apartment for two."

    It was very quiet in May, even over the bank holiday. We loved the setting overlooking the bay and the proximity to the town. Everything was clean and in good condition.

  • "We had a lovely stay at 31 South Snowdon Wharf, the view is amazing and it was interesting to watch the light on the hills opposite at sunset and see the estuary at different states of the tide."

    I was even lucky enough to see an otter swim past one morning. For the such a small apartment it was surprisingly well equipped. However there were a couple of things that could be improved: the area around the front entrance was scruffy and the patio door was dirty. The floor under the electric heater was also very dirty. We were greeted by a vase of dead flowers. I guess that as we arrived on a Tuesday the property had been prepared a few days in advance but this should have been taken in to account. No flowers would be preferable to dead ones. The biscuits were much appreciated though. The things in the kitchen cupboards were placed so happazaredly that one of the doors couldn't close. The knives need sharpening - I had real difficulty chopping vegetables. Lastly, some coat hooks in the hallway would be really useful. It is a great place to stay and with a bit more care could be perfect.
