"This was a particularly special stay for me, as this cottage was originally bought by my grandparents in the 1970s and owned by them til my gran passed in 1999."
I was really pleased that the original slate name plate we had made was still being used - the name Gwên y Wawr means Smile of the Dawn. It was interesting to see how new owners have rearranged the interior - there used to be a separate bathroom and toilet, and the kitchen has been extended into the old bathroom and the store cupboard between them brought forward and a new bathroom extended behind from the original separate toilet. The master bedroom is now a sunroom and the conservatory and far bedroom in the old garage are new(ish!). The lounge used to be an L shaped lounge/diner and the kitchen door was at the back of the lounge, now blocked up, with the old open archway from the diner to the kitchen removed. It was very clean on arrival but I was really disappointed with how the garden had been allowed to overgrow, although a gardener visited during my stay to discuss weeding and cutting back. The rusty satellite dish serves no purpose and would make the house look better if it was removed. Facilities were good, but I had to replace the kettle at my own expense as it was leaking water into the base and was dangerous. This has not yet been reimbursed by Sykes/Menai as promised. The washing machine also leaks and the sink tap is loose. Also, the council bins are half full of rubbish and water and smell really bad. These were all reported to Menai and I hope they will be resolved. Despite the few niggles, this is a lovely cottage in beautiful and peaceful part of North Wales, spacious and comfortable. I hope to visit again and that the issues will have been fixed.

"There was good and bad points about this bungalow so I'll start with the good."
Internally the property was very comfortable, clean (apart from the kitchen waste bin was still full of rubbish) and well equiped. The back garden was a lovely place to sit out in with fabulous views. Now for the bad, unfortunately when we arrived there was no water supply and we eventually discovered that it had been turned off. We turned it on only to have water pouring from the water tank overflow. To prevent any flooding we only turned on the supply when needed which was very inconvenient. On the Monday we contacted Sykes/ Menai Holidays who got a plumber out to us later that day he then returned the following day to complete the repairs. Someone must have been aware of this problem and not bothered reporting it....why? There was no contact for the actual owner or caretaker. We have stayed in many holiday cottages and this one was the first not to provide a visitors information pack. The front garden was very untidy and overgrown, didn't look like it had seen a gardener this year and the council waste bins were full of stagnant water. All this being said we did have a lovely week but it could have been so much better without the problems mentioned.

"Did contact owner about an issue but didn't respond."
Contacted Sykes who did respond. Only other small thing, the address said 'Lon' in the details and it's actually 'Ffordd'
