"Our second stay at this cottage and we loved it just as much second time around."

Lovely Cody comfy home. Unfortunately I found the beds uncomfortable again but that's just my body's preference I guess. Having said that I would still recommend this cottage. Having the Doctor a short walk away is fantastic for dog walkers and their dogs. Being able to walk down to the lake through the woods is great!!

"Great property in a fantastic location."

We stayed with our 2 children and 2 dogs and there was plenty of room for us all. Beds were comfy and living room was a great space to relax after a day out exploring. Utility room was in need of some TLC but I met Chris on our last day and he was already on the case and installing a new washing machine. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for somewhere to stay while exploring Snowdon and the surrounding areas.

"This was a family holiday with our dog."

My husband and son are rock climbers and Llanberis is the centre of North Wales climbing. Lletyr Wydffa (lodging of Snowdon) Parking is very, very limited be warned. The road up is extremely narrow, nothing we weren't afraid of being from the lakes though, but less confident drivers would not be happy. There is a drive at the property, but it's very narrow and has a steep incline. I tried reversing in and going forward. Reversing in took about a 10 point manoeuvre, due to a car parked in front of the property all week, but was the easiest way to drive out on a morning . There's a parking spot opposite but this was used by someone. When it was free it made reversing onto the drive a dream. Going in forward was better but reversing out was really difficult. The bins at the top of the drive didn't help. Access was easy to the property, the owner sent us a key safe code a couple of hours before check in. The door handle is vicious mind almost amputated my thumb as it is so close to the door frame. Lovely layout, bedrooms downstairs, living area upstairs. Mind your head if you are taller than 5' 10 husband hit his twice walking up stairs due to the ceiling being low. Upstairs is open plan kitchen, dining and living room. It's beautiful. With patio doors opening onto a balcony. Two shower rooms and toilets in the property too. Bedroom 1 large king-sized bed, had the most uncomfortable mattress I have ever slept on, the buttons on it pressed on my hips so badly , they are still hurting. A thick mattress topper would make all the difference. Bedroom 2 is like a cave, windows look onto rock, as patio is built above. Hubby slept in here with my son, he loved the darkness. Unfortunately there is a damp smell downstairs. Straight away I could feel it affecting my breathing. So we bought a dehumidifier, and moisture level was 70%. By the end of our stay it was 58%. If I kept the windows open too, it dropped to 50%. Experts suggest 40-60%. Cleanliness: house was clean and tidy. Although living there I noticed just surface clean. Both bathroom sinks drained really slowly, so on checking the plug hole both were blocked with hair and debris. Limited cleaning supplies, so I bought some particularly for the bathroom and toilet. Showers were clean but mildew in the downstairs shower obviously due to damp atmosphere. Vents in both bathrooms though. Upstairs toilet if not checked after flushing constantly drips water. Just needed the flush button tapped to sort it. Excellent TV and WiFi . Lovely comfortable corner settee, with recliners. Only one worked. On checking the cables were connected (they were) under the sofa was full of hair, dirt and tissues . Lovely dog bed and bowls in the property. There was a welcome basket that was very sad, 3 packets of biscuits. There was a pint of milk in the fridge. Some tea and coffee and sugar. The fridge freezer, was clean but the freezer needs defrosting the top drawer barely opens due to the amount of ice. I'm sure this is affecting the temperature of the fridge. Dishwasher was great Microwave working, but on going to wipe down after using there is some serious damage to the inside roof of it. I tried cleaning it but it's seriously burnt on food and maybe even plastic. Cooker is great and oven with grill, I needed to look online on how to use it. Toaster is rusty Great crockery and cutlery and cooking utensils. Glasses and cups. Cupboards are old and some damaged. Plenty of rubbish bags available. A welcome pack or even an email would have helped, as all outside bins were full and if we had known what day the refuse was collected we would have wheeled them down the drive. There is recycling boxes at the front of the property, and also food waste. Would have helped to know what could be put into this. Only interaction with the owner was the first day with the key safe code. I guess I could have contacted them about my concerns but didn't want the stress of it to be honest on the holiday. There is an outside laundry room. Which is practically unusable, we used the washing machine but only due to desperation, it's old rusty and mouldy inside. The tumble drier wasn't working, and the glass on the door broken. We ended up using a launderette as we hadn't taken so many clothes as it stated had a washer and drier. The green bin in the back garden was full of flies. It's obviously never been emptied for a while. The location is absolutely incredible, a 5 minute walk into the village that has everything you need. Two little supermarkets, pubs, coffee shops, takeaways. The lakeside is stunning. So much to do and so many places to explore. When I booked the property earlier in the year the reviews were great. On reading the recent reviews things have obviously changed. This property is a little gem, and could be incredible with a little bit of TLC.

"The cottage was great and the views from the sitting room window and decking of snowdon was lovely."

Only down side was how steep the tiny car space was, very hard to get in and out of with especially as there was a car parked right outside the cottage. This would have been fine with a smaller car but not a family sized car. Also the fridge freezer was very iced up and wasn’t very cold when we arrived, I had to turn it right up for it to become colder. These were small things and we still managed to have a good time.

"We recently stayed at this holiday cottage and, while the location was excellent for walking Snowdon and close to local shops and pubs, we were quite disappointed with the overall standard of cleanliness and upkeep."

On arrival, the cottage appeared fine on the surface, but we soon noticed several issues. The kitchen was tired, with dirty internal cupboards, a fridge that wasn’t maintaining temperature properly (meaning food didn’t last), and rust around the microwave. The oven trays were dirty, and both the fridge and microwave needed cleaning. The bathroom was also dated, with a shower head that wouldn’t stay in place. The king-size bed was very uncomfortable, which unfortunately affected my sleep during the stay. There were also dead bugs on the windowsills, which added to the feeling that the property hadn’t been thoroughly cleaned. That said, some essentials were provided, including milk, tea, coffee, and cleaning products, which was a helpful touch. I don’t normally like to complain, but I did raise the cleanliness concerns with the owner, who responded quickly and arranged for the issues to be addressed, which I appreciated. However, I don’t understand how this property has received such a high rating of 4.8 stars. Based on our experience, it did not reflect the quality or comfort suggested by that score, and we feel future guests should be aware of the discrepancies. Overall, while the location was great and the owner was responsive, the property itself did not meet the standard we expected for the price.

"The property is conveniently located within easy walking distance of restaurants and attractions."

The view from the kitchen and living room windows are delightful. The outdoor space has good views and is comfortable. In general the listing was consistent with the space, However, we had selected the property partially because the listing indicated a washer and tumble dryer. We found both inoperative on our arrival and the laundry room space very dirty. It looked like these had not been used in many months - perhaps years. By playing with the fuses we managed to get the washer to run but the dryer never heated up and was of no use. Because we had good weather we managed to dry the clothes outside. I would remove these from the listing or properly clean the space and repair these appliances. We also had to wash the dishes we used as they were dirty on our arrival and we found dirt and leaves in the ice trays on our arrival. So, I would suggest ensuring items are properly cleaned by previous guests.

"We had a very lovely stay here, the views were amazing and it was close to beautiful walks."

This place was beautifully done up, mostly clean, with washed towels, poo bags and dog towels by every door, and also a lovely welcome pack. The only downside is that The front door was a bit tricky to open. We cut our hands the first time trying to open the front door, as for some reason you had to open the handle all the way down, and the wall was in the way. The upstairs toilet seat wasn’t on properly and didn’t look like it fit the actual toilet, so it was quite annoying to sit on as it kept moving around. The showers didn’t have a lot of power or warmth, the downstairs one was too spread out, and the upstairs seemed to have a few leaks at the top of it, and the shutter door of the shower was stiff to close. Other than that it was a really comfortable getaway. We all enjoyed it. Thank you for our lovely stay!

The shower in the upstairs toilet needed the shower head holder tightening up and the front door is a bit tricky as it feels like it's been forced a fair bit over time. Very minor maintenance issues. Reckon it could do with some sort of extraction over the hob also.

LLANBERIS

Caernarfon 7 miles; Bangor 10 miles; Betws-y-Coed 17 miles.

Dominated by the grandeur of the Snowdon Massif, Llanberis is flanked by two lakes, Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris and is one of the most popular mountain tourist centres in the Snowdonia National Park. In fact, Llanberis is something of a mecca for walkers and climbers, being the starting point for the ascent of Snowdon - the highest mountain in England and Wales. The ascent can be made either by train via the Snowdon Mountain Railway, or on foot along one of the many routes to the summit. Each year, major racing events attract thousands to the area: The fast Snowdon Race to the summit, held in July every year, a triathlon known as the world's toughest, and The Snowdonia Marathon, held in October - a gruelling 26-mile course that starts and finishes in Llanberis, circumnavigating the Snowdon Massif. The area is also popular for mountain biking, open water swimming and stand up paddle boarding. Within Llanberis itself there are excellent places to eat and drink and a great choice of shopping. Just 7 miles from Llanberis on the coast is Caernarfon with its magnificent castle and town walls and close by are National Trust properties at Penrhyn, Plas Newydd and Bodnant Gardens.
