  • "We found Ty Hir a comfortable place to stay with all the necessities for a relaxing break."

The single track up to the barn which is adjacent to the owners home is a little daunting on first go, but soon becomes less so. It feels like you are in top of the world when you reach the accomodation and the views are amazing! Nb the direct view from the living room is disappointing but to each side, beautiful. If it were my place I'd swap the dresser for a comfy couch to sit with morning coffee and take in the view of Cnicht. We had a slight problem with the electricity supply on the first evening and morning but the owners were on hand for the weekend and were very friendly, approachable and helpful. It was sorted before we left. There is a private working farm next to the accomodation and the farmers there were very friendly. I would say this is probably not the best a property for people with mobility limitations as the parking outside the property is on quite rough, uneven ground. There is a short gentle sloping path from the gate to the accomodation.

  • "To be surrounded by mountains, glorious scenery and nature was absolutely blissful!"

The tranquility of the place immediately put us in chill mode! The cottage itself was very cosy and everything we needed was provided, even the cleaning things. It was lovely to be next to a working farm. We very quickly made friends with the chickens! We had a wonderful holiday at Ty Hir and will return and stay for longer!

We’re glad you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you again. Property Owner

Wanna come back for quiet holidays. Great contact with the owner. Place was clean and bedding fresh. My kid loved to see animals from the local farmers.

  • "We had a lovely stay at this barn conversion."

We were apprehensive about the access to the property when we received our instructions, but the mile long single track lane up the mountain was not a problem at all. The views of Snowdon and Cnicht were amazing and there were hikes from the property. The house was well equipped and the small patio had new outside seating. The grandchildren loved the farm environment and soon made friends with the chickens. There was so much to do in the immediate area for the children that we wore them out! We will definitely book again.

  • "Our stay here was lovely."

It is situated in a beautiful part of Wales with so much to do in a short distance. The cottage is situated on a working farm with dogs cows chickens and of course sheep! Very isolated and out of the town so is very quiet, peaceful with stunning views. We found lots of walling routes and if you like coffee you must visit 'The Port' in Portmadog. Only thing I would suggest is the outside patio could do with some seating I was always out there first thing in the morning taking in the scenery whilst having breakfast...very lucky with the weather!

Thanks for your feedback. We’ve sorted out patio table and chairs (appreciate the prompt - it’s been on our to-do list!) so you’ll be able to sit out if you come again ! Glad you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "Lovely property and location, with stunning views."

We had a very good time but the property is quite isolated at the top of the hill overlooking the Farm buildings. The drive to/from the barn is via a steep single track road but fortunately we never met anyone else, as reversing would have been a interesting.

  • "Cottage well equipped and clean."

We couldnt get the tv to work but there is wifi. The wood burning fire makes the living room very cosy but could do with more easy chairs instead of the upright bench. The cottage is in a beautiful location but is rather wedged in between the farm house and the farm yard so there are no views to the front and the working farmyard slightly spoils the view from the back. There is a gate from the patio which gives the impression you can walk through it onto a public path, but in fact the farmer told us it's private land. So maybe a sign on the gate would prevent people trespassing onto the field.

  • "It was an amazing property with views over the Mountains and the sea."

The property was very well maintained and had all you could need to make your stay comfortable. The rooms were spacious and clean. The garden area to the front and side are beautiful , from the patio doors you can watch the sheep, cows ,rabbits and sheep dog’s on the farm.

  • "We were not aware that we had to drive up a steep farm track for 1 mile getting out of the car twice to open 2 five bar gates, just to get to our accommodation."

Whilst we are fit and able and enjoyed the remoteness, other less able bodied people would struggle. Also there were no chairs for sitting outside to take in the amazing view.

  • "The cottage was comfortable and clean."

It was lovely that there was a basket of wood for the wood burner as one day we got soaked in the rain and it was nice to get warm and cosy again when we got back in the evening. The view of the mountains from the cottage was beautiful and it was nice to catch the sun in the garden most evenings. There were some nights where the farm dog was rather noisy with longs bouts of barking and whining, but I suppose he was just doing his job. We were lucky enough to see the sheep being sheared in the shed and it was nice to see them wandering about on the land next door.

  • "Some blinds on the door would go down well."

Signs from the main road would really help, plus signs further along the farm road until you actually get to the barn conversion.

The view from the cottages obscured by an untidy eyesore of the adjacent working farm and rubbished piled about. I. It’s favour around the corner a beautiful views being a working farm theyrca four sheep dogs who spend 80 percent of their time chained up seperately and prone to howling and barking

  • "I recently stayed in Ty Hir cottage and I must say it was a lovely stay."

The mountain view from the window was stunning! The cottage was warm and cosy with everything we needed, starting with towels and bedding to wood and coal. The owners who live in the house next to the cottage were extremely nice and friendly and even helped us by giving some wood and coal for the fireplace. We enjoyed our stay very much.

  • "We were not warned that the property was very isolated and up an unmade road (basically a farm track) which had several potholes and was quite slippery in the wet conditions."

If we had a four wheel drive car or land rover it would have been fine but in a normal family car not so good. There was also so signage on gates or the entrance to the property so there was some confusion in finding it when we first arrived. Only 1 large bath towel was supplied so we had to go and buy a second one in order to be able to dry ourselves after showering. There was no proper sofa in order to relax in the evenings, just upright chairs. The facilities were generally good as regards bathroom and kitchen but spoilt by the above mentioned.

Whilst I appreciate it is a working farm it did spoil the view somewhat! Also the instructions of how to find the property need to be updated as not very clear. Luckily we found some locals who showed us the way. The hosts were very attentive and welcoming though. Overall we had a good holiday as weather was roasting.
