    The accommodation was spacious, comfortable, well-equipped and with a great view. We would happily stay there again and would recommend it. There were, however, two issues with Sykes: Whoever wrote the directions on how to get there clearly needs training. If you are coming from the mainland and get on to the A5025, you pass through Pentraeth with a Texaco petrol station on the left. Once out of Town, look for the Bull Inn on the right. You then pass two side roads on the right and the entrance to Gwel Y Wawr is after a house on the right. I would strongly recommend visiting the What3Words website and typing in plays.director.companies. You can then place the little man on that square and get a good view of the location. Secondly, the term “washer/dryer” usually implies a single combined machine that washes and dries clothes. There is only a washing machine and a folding laundry drier. This presented a minor inconvenience for the two of us as the weather was generally good. However, this could present more of an inconvenience for a party of six!

Some sightseeing is also on the cards with Beaumaris just a few miles away and its castle which has been standing since the 1300s; the town is home to a good selection of pubs and eateries, should you not fancy cooking one evening.

Another activity to gather your intrigue, within the same distance, is a day out at Pili Palas Nature World to see some wonderful creatures, making a popular day out for the little ones.

Once those activities have filled your days up something a bit further away will be worth the visit as the captivating sights of Eryri National Park (Snowdonia) just a scenic drive away, back over the Menai Bridge; the beautiful countryside will take you on an adventure which will have your eyes switched on the rugged landscapes and varying terrains.

North Wales’ stunning national park makes it the ultimate place for walking, hiking, cycling and even wild swimming if the glorious beaches of Anglesey aren’t enough.

Red Wharf Bay 2 miles; Benllech 3 miles; Beaumaris 6 miles.

Pentraeth is a small attractive village on the banks of the River Nodwydd on the north-east coast of Anglesey. It has a village church that dates back to the 12th century and is located between Llanddona beach and Red Wharf Bay, which has over 4.5 miles of sandy beach. Red Wharf Bay’s Welsh name is Traeth Coch (Red Beach) and the area is renowned for its glorious sunsets. The bay is very shallow and provides safe bathing, perfect for wonderful family fun, fishing and miles of stunning scenic walks. The large bay attracts a huge number of waterfowl and wading birds, including shell duck, grey plover, purple sandpipers, curlew, oystercatchers and dunlin. Only 6 miles away is the delightful medieval town of Beaumaris which boasts a 13th century moated castle, excellent shops, pubs, restaurants, bistros and museums, as well as a golf course and exciting pleasure boat and sea fishing trips. This is a great location on the east coast of the picturesque Isle of Anglesey, yet only six minutes from the Britannia Bridge to access the mainland.
