  • "I had a wonderful stay at this beautiful cottage!"

The place was exactly as described—peaceful, cozy, and surrounded by stunning views. Communication was excellent; the host provided timely responses to all my questions, which made the check-in process smooth and stress-free. The cottage was well-equipped, especially in the kitchen. It had all the cooking equipment I needed, which made it easy to prepare meals during my stay. Whether you're looking for a relaxing getaway or a comfortable base for exploring the area, this cottage is perfect. I would definitely stay here again!

  • "The property location is peaceful and is surrounded by beautiful views of rural countryside, which is outstanding."

The house is comfortable and great for large groups and families. Unfortunately, the facilities let it done and leads to the impression of the house being marketed at top price range, but reality does not quite live upto expectation. We only had use of 2 out of 4 showers and unable to use dishwashers - 1 in main kitchen was broken and out of action, 2nd dishwasher is at the other end of the house and too far away to use practically. The water supply was intermittment at one end of the house due to boiler fault and water cold in main kitchen on and off. The cold water issue did get sorted by phoning the owners and we followed their advice on how to rectify problem but after reading visitors comments book, it was clear that the water supply and heat was a longer standing issue at the property. Unfortunately, we also noticed a rodent in the house, late one evening, and heard movement above the main kitchen floorboards.

The games room was great for us all. we had plenty of space and the views were stunning. My only complaint if is it a complaint was finding the place, maybe something like “what 3 words” would be ideal for future guests and the road down to the house isn’t ideal if you have a really small car, other than that it was great. On the last night we ate out at the Castle Bistro in Chirk and the food was delicious and large portions

  • "Very disappointed with cleanliness of the cottage in need of a very deep clean especially in kitchen area."

. The review that Mark put on in April I totally agree with.. Too many complaints to mention.. Could be so lovely if maintained better inside and out.. Such beautiful views, we had a week of excellent weather but not very nice outdoor furniture to sit on.. Never given a bad review but sorry nothing really good to say about it.. Did contact owner and and have been in touch with sykes.. Very glad to get home.. If this review means that things will improve and people who book this cottage get a good holiday then I will have achieved something and it will be worth it.. But all to late for me and my family..

Thankyou for taking the time to feedback on your week stay. I do apologise the house did not meet your expectations. We take all feedback seriously and I have spoken to the cleaners to discuss your suggestions, with immediate action. We have now got a large table cover and getting some covers for the worktops, this should make it easier to clean without the overuse of chemicals reacting. We appreciate you contacted us on your first morning with some issues. We aim to resolve any issues asap. We hope the plumber we got to visit within couple of hours helped. I also came to the property to see how I can help but a majority of you were out for a walk. The gentleman I spoke to said we can fix the light once you leave. Also I reached out again to see how we can make your stay better and offered for the cleaners to return. We are sorry for any inconvenience it may of caused. We wish you and your family all the best. • "Well what can I say - this place is perfect & 17 of us & a Dog have all thoroughly enjoyed our stay here."

The views are beautiful & gardens well kept. The house itself is huge, so even though there was 18 of us, it never felt cramped. Had a lovely homely feel too & both the pool table & dart board were put to good use. Everything was clean & we had a lovely welcome hamper on arrival. The main kitchen had everything we needed throughout our stay & we all loved being able to sit comfortably together around the huge table for our breakfast & evening meals. The only thing I will say is that a lot of the rooms are on different levels so something to consider if someone in your party isn’t good with steps & the step into the living room from the front door could do with marking out as pretty much everyone tripped up it at some point during our stay as it’s the same colour as the floor. On saying that there is also 2 ground floor bedrooms with we found brilliant especially as we had a dog with us! The property owners which we met on arrival and departure were so lovely and they had the cutest of dogs which loved to play ball which we happily obliged in chucking :0) (we only saw the dog on arrival and departure) Yes the road to the property is tricky but manageable. It’s absolutely bursting with character we really did love both the location and the property and would highly recommend a stay. Only downside, no one wanted to leave and we all wished we had stayed longer! Amazing - Thank you ♥️

Thankyou for your feedback and sorry you had to leave. But it sounds like you all had a great time. We will have a look at the steps in the hall to make them clearer, Thankyou for the suggestion. Please come back anytime. Property Owner

  • "We absolutely loved our long weekend at Pant Dafydd Goch cottage!"

We were a group of friends (mostly couples) come together to celebrate my 50th birthday. The bedrooms were delightful, full of character and we especially loved all the roll-top baths (plenty of boiling hot water!) We enjoyed dining around the large kitchen table, in fact we had a Tudor style banquet dressed in tudor costumes on one day (my birthday request) It was really handy having 2 fully stocked kitchens with such a large group. The communal lounge in the centre of the house became our favourite space, and has a huge log burner that made our evening time very cosy. We were lucky with the weather and spent one day playing KUBB on the lawn while sipping cocktails on the patio. There's a chiminea fire pit that we all sat round one evening, admiring the stars. But the best thing about the cottage is its location- it's so peaceful and relaxing, with just the birds and the sheep and cows for company and a great view from the patio/ garden over the hillside. We loved it so much, we are planning to return. It's a treasure of a cottage, we didn't want to leave.

Thankyou so much for your feedback, I am so happy you thoroughly enjoyed it. What a great idea having a Tudor style banquet, the large table is perfect for that. You are welcome back anytime. Property Owner

  • "Plenty of hot water - which was just as well."

On arrival the property was grubby (dirty floors and surfaces, especially in the kitchen, where they were both dirty and sticky. The kitchen table had dried food stuck in the large gaps between the table top planks. Cutlery was dirty and some baking trays were stored away covered in grease. We didn’t see any live mice, but evidence of their presence was beneath and around the fridge. If one had died, that would explain the smell around the bin area in the kitchen. The owners information pack states that they do not clean cutlery and utensils - but given what we found, other areas of basic cleaning and building repair were also lacking. A substantial amount of time and money was spent in cleaning the house and getting it to a level hopefully suitable for the group ranging from 4weeks, to 93years. Unfortunately, we weren’t quick enough, of the 15 in the group, 14 went down with stomach bugs… The illnesses meant we only left the property from Sunday onwards to go shopping for cleaning and medical supplies. The bedroom off the kitchen has a large area of black mould on the wall. The settees are generally grubby, old and not of a good standard. Some of the kitchen chairs need to be replaced, which I was told had been noted in a previous review (November?). Numerous double glazed units are blown, with condensation and lime scale inside (so not a recent occurrence). Some windows cannot be opened - the retaining stays are missing, so the unit would be swinging in the wind. Some external doors are ill fitting, with clear gaps, causing draughts and water ingress. There is a trip hazard (step) in the middle of one of the upstairs bedrooms. It is carpeted, but without any contrast. As a result, my mother had a fall. More could be said about the place, but you should have got the picture by now. We did not contact the owners about what we found - apart from possibly the cutlery and baking trays, all of the issues were clearly visible. Our opinion was the state of the property and contents were of an acceptable standard and presentation to the owners. In any case, they would not have been able to rectify dirty settees, windows etc. and our expectation about getting someone else to clean surfaces etc, was not high. We left a day early. An earlier departure was not possible as some of the group were not well enough to travel before Thursday. I was left with the impression that the property is offered as a money-making resource, rather than a place that is cherished. There is a house-keeping deposit supposedly in operation. However, if the owners can’t take on ‘extra’ cleaning to turn the property around (presumably between Friday 10am and 4pm), then imposing a house-keeping ‘fine’ will not clean it either. This place needs a dedicated cleaner and handyman to be employed for the turn round time each week. My recommendation is to avoid the place - we won’t be returning. If you do go, on the current presentation and cleaning regime, you will be very much reliant on how the previous occupants have left the place - but you should have plenty of hot water for cleaning!

Thankyou for your feedback. We take on board all feedback and liaise with all staff. I am sorry you were not satisfied with the property, I wished you had contacted us to have the opportunity to sort the issues. We thrive to make the holiday stress free and try our best to accommodate your needs. As you commented only in the review after your week stay, we took it upon ourselves to invite Sykes property management team to visit and look around with fresh eyes. They took photos and made notes for future guests. We also discussed areas we need to work on and ensure listing is accurate. From your feedback, we are sorry you felt the place was grubby. The property is old and the barn side is all reclaimed materials. The table and worktop are scaffolding boards, the floor is straight out of the local quarry unpolished and chairs in the kitchen are old school chairs. All these things have history, character and some war wounds. The worktops are treated with linseed oil and can react with heavy use of products like bleach which stops them feeling silky smooth. We have resanded and reoiled. We do ask guests to clean cooking equipment and cutlery, as the cleaners don’t have enough time to re wash everything. They do do a quick spot check but sorry if they missed anything. We found the mould behind the sofa and cleaned. Due to the size of the windows we can’t replace however most are fine and you still get a great view. We have looked closely at the doors and filled in any gaps. We have also made the bedroom step clearer. We have had mice in the past but had pest control visit and it is now under control. The house was thoroughly cleaned after mice, however sometimes filled bins just smell. Finally, I am sorry you all fell ill, I’m sure that was unpleasant. Unfortunately it’s that time of the year that bugs like to spread within families. Hope you are all well now. Property Owner

  • "This farmhouse is full of rustic charm with plenty of space for large family gatherings and beautifully decorated for Christmas."

The setting is peaceful and picturesque. Unfortunately the facilities let it down: only 2 showers worked which was particularly difficult for my 88year old mother. The owner said he would come and sort but didn’t. Dishwasher in main kitchen doesn’t wash properly. Knives are so blunt you can’t cut anything - we tried to sharpen but still useless. Heating is operated remotely by owner which makes it difficult to regulate. The lack of hot water and cold bedrooms made it very challenging for a family of 15. If all this was sorted this place would be perfect.

Thankyou for your feedback and we love to make the place feel as Christmassy as possible, so we always have decorations and a local tree. We apologise for the 2 showers to stop working as they are on the same system. We tried to get the part for the shower during your stay however with it being Christmas it took longer than we anticipated and arrived once you left. I tried to explain on a number of late evenings how the thermostat works. In the evening the thermostats were in rooms of 21.5 (I showed photos of the temperature) therefore the radiators would not come on till it was cooler. We cannot set the thermostats above 20.5 as the boiler struggles to cope due to the size of the property. We do leave throws, logs on arrival for 3 log burners, also leave 4 electric radiators as we understand some people need warmer bedrooms. The hot water is on 3 times a day however you can run out of hot water after a number of baths or showers. But we have extended the periods of when hot water is on. Nevertheless, we are glad you had a good Christmas and get together. Property Owner

  • "The views and location is amazing."

We did have a lovely time. We appreciate it is an old building and if people staying there don't give feedback then things cannot be sorted. The general cleanliness in the main kitchen was below par. Quite a few peices of crockery were chipped/ broken. The chairs at the kitchen table some were very unstable and not safe. The bedrooms were all clean and tidy and the bed linen and towels were good quality. The back up electric heaters were a must as the central heating was somewhat temperamental. The place got cosy when the log burner was going. There lacked a downstairs cloakroom/WC. There we some unwanted guests (mice) in the small kitchen. And something larger in the loft. All in all despite the above this is a lovely place to visit in a beautiful setting.

Thankyou for your feedback and we take a look into your pointers. Also, thankyou for contacting us during your stay so we can sort the issues. We did offer to get traps etc for the mouse however as you were concerned your dog may get hold of the trap we agreed to deal with the issue once you left. The heating does work off thermostats based in utility room, large living room and kitchen. Therefore the radiators do not come on till it is below the set temperature. We do leave electric heaters as we appreciate some people do like it warmer in their bedrooms. The 3 logs burners do help and I agree, they are cosy. Property Owner

  • "We had a fabulous stay at this property."

We were a group of 10 across 3 generations from 19 to 89 years old. The house is spacious with large proportioned rooms throughout. There was plenty of space for everyone. The bedrooms are all good sizes with 3 standout bedrooms, 1 in each upstairs wing and the downstairs bedroom off the kitchen/diner. Everyone slept really well, my dad who's 89 and an early riser slept in every morning! The bed linen and towels were really good quality. All the bathrooms are spacious, really high quality and there was plenty of hot water. Outside space is great! With far reaching views in total peace and quiet (just the sheep for neighbours). We made good use of the side garden playing rounders. The covered patio was used by the older family members as it was sheltered and warmed by the sun. Plenty to do in this property in the evenings with the huge lounge, board games, darts in the snug and pool tournaments in the next room. Having 2 kitchens in either side of the house meant easy access to snacks and cold/hot drinks. Things to note- there are 3 quite high steps into the main kitchen/diner and the stairs on both sides of the house are quite steep with a rope hand rail. As the 2nd ground floor bedroom had no easy access to a toilet (in the night) my elderly parents slept upstairs so one of us had to be on hand to help with the stairs but as this was just twice a day it didn't detract from our enjoyment. As in the description this is an isolated house, the surrounding roads are narrow (although plenty of passing places) and llangollen is about 15-20 minute drive. Chirk about 15 minutes. The track to the house is quite bumpy but we had no problem driving in an Astra and 2 SUV's, just drive slow and be careful of the sheep. If you want to get away from it all and relax in total peace and quiet in a huge, comfortable house but with access to surrounding villages and towns then this house ticks all the boxes.

Upon arrival the hosts brought us extra heaters as they was an issue with the radiator oil, heaters worked fine and along with the fires throughout it was nice and warm! Absolutely true, and I would add, "but not for the faint-hearted". Pant means hollow and the house is situated off the road in a fold in the hills with a superb view to the South East. The track down to the house is unmade and bumpy but most cars can handle it without difficulty if taken with care. Don't take your low-slung sports car down there. Once there, you will fall in love with the idyllic setting. There are basically two houses joined together by a magnificent and very comfortable lounge. The downstairs bedroom is part of the route through to the enormous kitchen/dining room but can be shut off for privacy. The owner has furnished the house with period furniture which recreates the atmosphere of the old Welsh farmhouses where I spent holidays as a child many years ago. The beds are much more comfortable, however, as they all have modern mattresses. The layout is somewhat eccentric and full of surprises, but we made it work for our large family group and even held a wedding anniversary party where a tour of the house was part of the entertainment. Staying there was an unforgettable experience. If you have a dog you should be aware that the house is surrounded by pasture with grazing livestock and even our son's elderly dog was able to hop over part of the stone wall and into the sheep pen just in front of the house. She was rather scared of the sheep.

  • "Pant Dafydd Goch is a lovely old house with loads of character alongside modern facilities."

The property is located in a remote and beautiful location. The views from the property are stunning and the sun shines on the house from sunrise to sunset. The house is perfect for big family gatherings or for holidays with groups of friends and children. The owner is extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the surrounding area and can advise on places to visit. Due to its location I would advise that you use the owner’s directions to find the property which were perfect, rather than following a sat nav.

  • "Just be aware that the farmhouse is in the middle of nowhere so Is quite difficult to explain to taxi companies where you are going as the road is unnamed."

The driveway is through fields over a cattle grid so I wouldn’t attempt this in a low or sports car. The property itself is lovely and couldn’t fault it. Plenty of pubs and planes to eat in the nearby villages. Everyone is very polite.

Plenty of space for us with 2 kids and 2 dogs. A little difficult to find as it’s quite isolated, got there with directions from the owner who was more than helpful. Llangollen was only a 10 minute drive away.

  • "Alex was there to meet us when we arrived and also when we left, which made it personable."

Alex made it known we could contact him at anytime should we need to know or require anything...a perfect friendly host. We did get a little lost trying to find the cottage, we followed the instructions Alex had recommend instead of following the sat nav route; this made it even more a special journey-it was like a treasure hunt trail :) The only problem was the last sign to follow for the directions had been removed, hence us getting lost; why we didn't think to ring Alex for help, who knows! :) It is a remote property therefore the path to it is across a field and a stoney rocky path, which may not be suitable for all vehicles, but it is definitely all worth it, you become part of the country scenery and make friends with the sheep :) The property is beautiful, very rustic. If anything there are a few things that require attention, such as a fault on a panel of the double glazing, which makes it look misty and the garden could be tidied, but nothing major at all. The bedding and towels were super white and clean, everything was very clean, all the pots and drinking glasses were sparkling. The bathrooms were equally as clean and pristine. A basket of goodies and a fridge with condiments was a very welcoming touch. We sat around the dining table for an evening meal with the patio doors open, it was bliss. After 2 nights we were all beginning to wish the cottage belonged to us, it has a beautiful homely feeling and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would definitely recommend this relaxing authentic cottage to anyone. Thank you Alex, from 7 beautiful, just 50year old girls X X X X X X X

Lovely touches throughout. We had a family birthday here and thoroughly enjoyed the tranquility of the space and amazing views. We really felt relaxed and rested here. We did have to flag down the food delivery up at the main road but that was quite fun so didn't cause us any issues. Alex was a fantastic host nothing was too much trouble, he really went out of his way to help us on a few occasions. Would love to revisit and highly recommend to anyone looking for a special property and amazing views.

Enter the accommodation via the porch, where you will arrive at a farmhouse kitchen/diner, which brings a sense of the countryside indoors.

Whether preparing your favourite meals or dining with your loved ones, this is a homely place to unwind in comfort.

Two sitting rooms rest on the ground floor, the first comes as a cosy snug with a selection of seating, whilst the second boasts an enchanting dining area, joined by an L-shaped sofa and exposed beams.

Wherever you choose to relax, simply sit back and enjoy the warmth from the woodburning stove, tucked away beneath exposed stonework and antique furniture.

Cosy up in the one-of-a-kind, en-suite double bedroom come night time, or choose between the two first floor doubles, elevated by a front-facing or south-facing view.

The same sense of quirkiness continues to the twin set-up, and a family bathroom ties this all together in a quality fashion.

If you can steer yourself away from the interior, make the most of the hillside, rural walks, and acres of scenery located directly on your doorstep.
