  • "The rooms had cobwebs in corners, the beds were very uncomfortable."

I was under the impression that all rooms had an ensuit but that was not the case as some rooms had just a toilet and sink. The property needs updating. The ceiling was leaking in the dining room while someone was showering upstairs. The whole palce needs a deep clean there were flys in the bedrooms. Unfortunately I won't be staying here again.

  • "The space in this large house is great, it is well equipped with crockery and cutlery, 2 fridge freezers, 2 kettles and toasters and towels."

However a few things that just spoil it.... the dinning table isn't big enough for all who can stay so just a tweak could seat all guests together to eat, the outdoor space is grubby unswept and not useable. The utility again grubby and you wouldn't want to use. The place is knocked about and dated but given cost this isn't an issue because for something well maintained and up-to-date you'd pay more. With a bit elbow grease and effort to outside and diner it could be much better experience.

  • "The property was huge and the views to the front were beautiful."

The heating was not on when we arrived and it took some time to get the house warm. The dining room was the best room in the house and we thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas dinner in this room . The biggest disappointment (the photos are very deceiving) was the kitchen. It was very small, poorly designed and definitely not big enough to cater for a large group. Despite this, (we were only a small group),we thoroughly enjoyed our week away over Christmas. The house was well decorated for the festive period.

Many thanks for your comments, apologies if the house took a while to warm up and this should be sorted moving forward. We have also added another two ring hob to the kitchen and also added an air fryer ready for Easter season. We have also updated the advert pictures as we recarpeted some areas and so have also updated the kitchen pictures. So glad you you liked the Christmas decorations and we hope to see you again in the future. Property Owner

  • "Had a 3 night stay with family and friends."

The property offered ample space to accomodate our large party and we enjoyed our long weekend. The house is a bit tired as has been mentioned before but was clean and comfortable enough for our needs . Nice to have en-suite facilities in every room. The top floor shower still does not work, also the TV in main lounge. Would have expected them to be sorted as not a new problem going by previous reviews. Downstairs wet room and toilet is a bit dark and dingy. Gas cooker in kitchen does not work and is dirty- detracts from an otherwise nice kitchen, although might struggle to cook for a lot of people with 1 oven, microwave and 4 ring hob. Didnt bother us as we ate out. Had an ice making machine - nice feature. Could not get heating on at first, despite instructions in welcome pack. Thermostat in a cupboard on first floor. Had to make a couple of calls to owner to find out there is another switch in an outdoor shed at back of property that needed to be switched on. Unfortunately not all radiators came on and had to use electric heaters and wall heaters (would be usefull to have instructions for wall heaters).Didnt use the garden as the access is quite steep. Ample parking for several cars at front of house, lovely uninterrupted view at front, quiet at night and location great for touring around N Wales. Great Indian takeaway and Frankies cafe in the High St. Spar, pub and lovely butchers there too. Sainsburys , Morrisons, Aldis etc a short drive away if youre looking for provisions for a longer stay. Blue Lion and New Inn nearby for a meal and a drink. Waterfall is a local tourist attraction nearby. Overall, an enjoyable weekend was had.

Thank you for your feedback. I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Gwynant. I apologise for the inconvenience caused by the heating and fortunately after your phone call I was able to rectified it immediately. Easter 2024 update; We have replaced the TV in the lounge, enhanced the wet room lighting, the obsolete cooker has been removed and the kitchen now has an electric hob and oven, combi microwave, an air fryer and a new extra two point electric hob for guest convenience. There is now guidance in the property regarding thermostats and fuse box locations and the radiators have been replaced. Kind regards Lyn Property Owner

  • "The standard of accommodation was disappointing overall."

    1) Cleanliness - people shouldn’t have to clean their own toilet rims on arrival (I think AJ did) 2) The property was obviously previously a care home and this was not mentioned anywhere on the website. Photographs were unrepresentative of the actual quality. As guests we should not be finding tracking hoists, broken stannah stairlifts (with open wiring coming out of broken sockets), and eulogies of dead people in drawers. There were clearly items of property and photographs/clothing belonging to previous residents in the quarters we were in upstairs. Unlocked doors in our quarters too which lead to open voids in the loft space. 3) top floor shower was broken and obviously had been for some time as there was a framed sign in it saying so not use. Moreover, the gas cooker downstairs was similarly out of order. This should be in working order and operational. One of the downstairs windows was broken ..dangerous for young children. Carpeting in toilets is a hygiene issue. Outside 2 over flowing yellow bins and a shrub growing out of drainpipe doesnt create a positive impression. First time ever my wife has been so disappointed with accommodation for her landmark birthday. Fell short of any expectations.

Easter 24 update; The property has recently had several enhancements, the stairlift cabling has been checked and tidied, drawers have been checked for previous guest belongings, apologies about this previous oversight. Access to void storage has been resolved and the top floor shower is in working order. The obsolete cooker has been replaced with electric appliances and carpets have been replaced in several areas. The downstairs window has also been replaced. I have also had new photos taken of several rooms in the property to reflect its current good standard. Property Owner

The main living area was big enough for all of us and we also all could eat together in the main dining room. We had a couple of BBQ’s which were great . The rooms and beds were all comfortable. Lots to do in the area weather was fabulous so even had days on the beach . Village had lovely pubs and there was a nice park round the corner. Things that would improve the stay are fixing the shower on the top floor , sort out the hot water without having to turn the heating on, fix the oven that’s not working ( 1 does work) . We had a fabulous holiday especially for the price we paid. As for other reviews I would say if you want 5 star pay 5 star prices. Would recommend. Thank you .

  • "Difficult review to write this one."

The property in itself you get what you pay for, it’s a big property for what you pay, BUT there are a lot of issues that let it down. CONS Lighting is poor, the amount of bulbs out, the amount of redundant switches is unbelievable, Broken window in the snug, generally poor quality furniture and leaky toilets. Showers that dribble water that never really gets massively hot. Cleanliness was a bit of an issue, cobwebs in every room, seemed to be cleaned only to eye level. We had lovely weather, unfortunately we could not use the garden because it was overgrown, and had random wood, old disposable bbq’s, bags of cement scattered around. Not safe for kids. We informed the owner, got an initial response saying she would try to contact the gardener, but subsequent request for confirmation was ignored and no reply. Not really what we expected from the owner. PROS Size, loads of room, plenty of parking and great location, big park behind and close to Prestatyn. With a bit if TLC this place could be nice, but as it is, you can still feel it was an old business (old folks home) that has been changed to a let. Didn’t feel like a holiday home or very homely. We where a large family gathering and none of the family’s said they would return. We wanted to give an honest review as to what to expect, as from the pictures on Sykes, we didn’t think the represented the property in how it actually is.

Please know that Gwynant is a large property we market as an ideal location for large parties. We at Gwynant take all feedback seriously, and their comments will be shared with our team. I understand there were a few issues during their stay, such as the bulbs being out and the garden not being entirely tidy. I did apologise to the guests about this as I left them my contact number, explaining that our gardener had been ill for the past few weeks, However, I want to clarify that these have been addressed since their departure. As for the cracked window in the Snug, please note that it is a small double-glazed window and has been like that since 2002. We do not plan to replace it at this time. Regarding the shower dripping, I would have been more than happy to arrange for a plumber to come and fix it had I known about it during your stay. I make it perfectly clear to all guests that if they have any issues or concerns please ring me straight away and I will do my utmost to make things right. Regarding the cleanliness of Gwynant, it is worth noting that this property has high ceilings and is quite old. Although we try our best to maintain its cleanliness, there are times when we may miss a few cobwebs here and there. However, I do feel that it would have been helpful if they could have pointed out their findings after going through the property. I would like to clarify that Gwynant is not an "old folks home". In 2018 it was indeed a residential home, but prior to that, it was a family home. We also respectfully disagree with their assessment of our furniture. As a team, we greatly value the feedback from our guests as we strive to ensure that they have a wonderful and memorable experience. This is why we have put measures in place to encourage our guests to reach out to us with any questions or concerns by providing them with a clear notice upon their arrival. Kind regards, the owners. • "Unfortunately we arrived to a cold house as the oil for the boiler had run out and this was not realised until an hour before we arrived."

A variety of plug in heaters were provided but unfortunately these tripped the plug circuit on the ground floor and there were no instructions for the location of the trip switches or central heating controls. The first 24 hours were dominated by liaising with the owners staff trying to remedy a variety of maintenance issues. It was 24 hours before oil was delivered. Some rooms had electric heaters on the walls but unfortunately one was sparking and had to be condemned. We chose the property as we were a large party of 14 and needed space for everyone to spread out. The property was previously a residential home and has facilities for guests with disabilities. There is a stairlift but it only goes up half the stairs, the upper part has been removed and was found stored in one of the toilets! Gwynant has the potential to be good with some much needed investment and updating of the electrics, plumbing, double glazing and facilities to cater for large groups. There are very few plug sockets in the bedrooms, bedside lamps are provided but you couldn't actually plug them in, we asked for extension leads which were provided quickly. There is no storage for food in the kitchen other than the fridges so supplies for 14 had to be left in bags and boxes. Some coat hooks and shoe storage would be useful at the front door. The shower on the top floor was out of order and we had issues with a the remaining showers ie drains blocked, no hot water. The plumber, electrician and the owners secretary were all very helpful in trying to sort the problems for us but I imagine a lot of the issues must have been mentioned before by previous guests, so puzzled as to why they still exist. I will be writing to the owner as too much to detail here. Despite the many issues with the house, we enjoyed our weekend and the village of Dyserth is lovely. Lots of walks from the doorstep and a short drive to the Coast.
