  • "We spent three full weeks at The Lodge and found it had everything we needed, from the welcome wine, milk and chocolate to the useful little things like cleaning cloths, washing-up liquid, shower gel etc."

Not all rentals are so thoughtfully equipped! The design of the Lodge itself and its stylish, comfortable interior were terrific and it was great to breakfast admiring the open countryside and the lovely horses. Lisa and her family were great hosts - helpful when needed but never intrusive. For us, the location was perfect as it was only minutes from Town, but there was no parking problem when you got 'home'. Yes, the approach road IS very bumpy but the cottage description warns you fairly. Just take it slowly! We would wholeheartedly recommend 'The Lodge' to visiting couples.

  • "We stayed at The Lodge for 3 nights just to mainly relax and it was absolutely wonderful."

The owner and all we spoke to were friendly. The Lodge has all the facilities you could ask for, comfortable, beautiful decor and extremely peaceful. We stayed in the middle of winter, I can imagine this place being even more beautiful in spring/summer. Would definitely recommend we will be looking stay again in the future.

  • "This is a really tastefully designed lodge."

The bespoke fittings and furniture really make the place. It is a great base for exploring The Wirral, Liverpool, Chester, North Wales. It is a very roomy lodge. To really be nit picky the lack of freezer caught us out and we would have preferred that over the dishwasher, but understand this is a very personal choice. The bumpy road to the Lodge can be annoying but it is a short stretch and it is really a small handicap over what is a great holiday base. Highly recommended.

  • "The actual lodge was lovely however a dung heap of rotting grass etc at the side of the patio was not too pleasant - also if the bushes in front of the patio had been lopped a few feet we would have gained a bit more of the lovely sunshine ."

The boiler in the lodge seemed to have a mind of its own coming on and off at random times and as it was in the bedroom in a cupboard that didn’t close properly it disturbed sleep. However the wet room was amazing - king size bed so comfortable - overall let down by attention to detail - stacks of brochures in the drawer some 3 years old ! Welcome pack consisted of a small jug of milk ! We do appreciate though that due to Covid the owners have had and are still having a dreadful time with the loss if revenue from weddings etc.

Thank you so much for sharing your feedback! I would like to assure you that we have taken onboard all of your comments and ensured that the garden work outside has been taken away. We have cleared out the draws and freshly decorated the property for future bookings. Thank you again for your feedback! We hope to see you again soon. Property Owner

Although the owners lives on site, we had complete privacy but felt very welcome. Very comfortable accommodation with a well equipped kitchen and the bed was so soft. The location was a fantastic base for exploring both Wales and the cities of Chester and Liverpool, we will definitely be back again in the future!

The lodge was comfortable and stylish and we will be booking again to do all the things we didn't have time for on this trip. Only small criticism is the kettle, an electric kettle would be so much easier and safer.

  • "The Lodge is a comfortable space - bedroom separated from the kitchen/lounge area - with bathroom off the lounge area."

The kitchen space is very small if you intend to cook from scratch - very little worktop space and the lighting not adequate in that area - we solved this by moving one of the standard lamps from the lounge area - otherwise you are cooking in your own shadow. Basic cooking implements supplied, 2 saucepans and one frying pan. The oven gloves were missing as were two dinner plates, but a replacements were quickly provided by the owner. No welcome pack at all. 1" of washing up liquid and 1" liquid hand soap left by the kitchen sink, washing-up sponge not new - these seem like false economies! Bed huge and very comfortable, lots of storage space and extra bedding provided if needed. The lounge area has a lovely view with fully opening doors, unfortunately it rained the entire week so we were unable to take advantage of this. Lounge has two sofas and lots of space to move around. WiFi excellent and TV with Freeview. Fantastic piece of wall art. There was a stag-party over the weekend, they were staying in tents further along - we heard nothing from them - but be aware that everyone who stays in their own tent or in the glamping tents has to walk or drive past The Lodge. Brilliant location for visiting Chester and lovely walks from the door.

  • "Your original description of the property described an idyllic location, but what you did not mention was that this was a glamping site that hosted Hen Party events."

The Lodge itself was in need of attention as some of the crockery was old and chipped and the dining chairs were rickety. To make matters worse, the calor gas supply stopped working during our stay which meant that we had no cooking facilities, heating or hot water during a rather cold period. An engineer was called in to solve the problem which was rectified within 24 hours. The outdoor seating patio area boasted weeds and cane patio furniture that was literally falling apart. As for the fabulous views, horse manure dumped to the left, horse manure in the paddock, insight, to the right just left to rot. Of course, once again there was no mention of horse and stables facilities on site in your description. Due to the state of the property and its surrounding areas we actually cut short our holiday and left earlier than originally planned. Disappointed is not the word to describe this property but the term 'a waste of money' is a more apt description. I suggest you do your property research more carefully.

Would suit people who like the peaceful location and close to lots of places of interest. Nice visit from the cat and dog, however I think the dog wanted to stay too! cute. We used this as a stay for Chester Zoo, well worth a visit, and only a couple of miles away. The local village has a great Co-op for all those things you forgot, or for when you drink too much wine on the first night, you can get extra supplies.

  • "Unfortunately the boiler had broken during our stay."

I appreciate this doesn't always mean conditions are like this, however, it did mean during our stay that there was no central heating or hot water throughout the duration of our stay. Our host Lisa was accommodating and let us use the Shower in the house, however this is not the situation that we signed up for and if we knew this would have been the case before hand then we wouldn't have booked this lodge.

Many thanks for your valuable feedback, we are very disappointed that one of our properties has seemingly let us down and not provided you with the experienced that we had hoped for. About the location

CHESTER

Liverpool 17 miles; Manchester 36 miles.

Chester has quite rightly been described as 'the jewel of the North-West of England'. Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of the city is that within a very small area there is evidence of every period of history - from the old walls and amphitheatre of Roman times, through medieval churches, Elizabethan timber-framed townhouses and Georgian terraces, to Victorian restorations and 21st century architecture. The city has much to offer the tourist, including excellent shopping in and around the famous Tudor 'Rows' and lovely walks along the Roman Walls, beside the River Dee and through the picturesque Grosvenor Park. Explore Chester's beautiful medieval cathedral, visit Chester Racecourse or spend a day at the world renowned Chester Zoo. Further afield, the stunning Welsh mountains and coastline, the quaint market towns and villages of Cheshire and the Wirral Peninsula with its first class golf courses, are all within easy touring distance, whilst frequent rail services make Liverpool, Manchester and the North Wales coast readily accessible.
