  • “The cottage is looking tatty, gaps in the windows and doors, some of which dmmt close properly frayed carpet with marks on some of the bedroom carpets, 2 of the curtain poles to both the upstairs and downstairs patio doors were literally hanging off at one end, I can only assume from kids pulling them ?”

or perhaps the lack of clothes drying space (there was a clothes airer but it was broken!!!) so people have probably been hanging clothes up to dry on hangers over the curtain poles?! The cottage was not up to scratch cleaning wise, dog hairs from previous occupiers dogs all over both leather sofas, plenty enough to see and not hooverd off, throws on the back of the sofas smelled unwashed and of other people and or dogs, the kitchen bin was filthy even though it had removable washable bucket ...

or perhaps the lack of clothes drying space (there was a clothes airer but it was broken!!!) so people have probably been hanging clothes up to dry on hangers over the curtain poles?! The cottage was not up to scratch cleaning wise, dog hairs from previous occupiers dogs all over both leather sofas, plenty enough to see and not hooverd off, throws on the back of the sofas smelled unwashed and of other people and or dogs, the kitchen bin was filthy even though it had removable washable bucket inserts that hadn't been washed from the previous occupants, the shower had black mould round the bottom that I know for a fact would have come off with the correct cleaning products (namely Cif mould stain remover with bleach -spray) The downstairs floor is tiled all through, it had possibly been hoovered but definitely not mopped as when I wiped the floor after my dogs had a drink the cloth was dirty, some of the kitchen handles had what I can only presume was something like egg that had been spilled and solidified all over them, they felt awful to touch, I did buy some anti bacterial spray and some bleach (as there were no cleaning products left for us to use) but it didn't get the handles clean. I also had to buy some dishwasher salt to refill the dishwasher, something the cleaner should check on perhaps, and some more coat hangers! I've never come across a holiday let yet that didn't supply such products for guests to use. The bath towels were only towels and not bath sheets (only skinny people can use regular bath size towels!) I know this post comes across as moan moan moan but these to me are things that need addressing, on the plus side the bed was comfy and king size as stated, the bathroom on the whole was clean apart from the black mould and the cottage was in a good location, but personally I'd sack the cleaner who also clearly hasn't pulled out the sofas or tv cabinet to clean under for what looked like months!
