  • "A very well equipped and comfortable cottage in a lovely village."

Parking is the only issue especially for a large car and although it is possible to get in the space it is easier to park on the road. No issue for a smaller car however. Cherry cottage is perfect for exploring the area and we would definitely return for a longer stay.

Cottage was lovely and set in a great location in a quiet village with a pub just a short walk away serving a good selection of ale and great food with friendly staff The facilities in the cottage were excellent with free view and WiFi and all the amenities required The only bug bear was the back garden grass area which was very overgrown otherwise it would have been lovely to sit outside and relax with great views but unfortunately spoilt by the overgrown grass

Thank you for letting us know about the issue with the lawn, ive been in touch with the managment company to rectify the issue. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay at Cherry cottage overall, it was tidy - it could have been a little cleaner though."

Lots of dust and dirt around the bathroom floor around the toilet area. And generally floors upstairs had hair and dust. The cottage is perfectly situated. Gorgeous views and the quality of the fittings and fixtures was very high. Nice furnishings and quality bedding. We were very cold when we arrived though as the underfloor heating or water wasn’t switched on, it took a few hours to get up to temperature. It might have been nice to have offered a few starter logs for the wood burner. The grass hadn’t been cut either, it was quite long making it difficult to find dog-mess - we literally had to follow our dog around as he was toileting, otherwise we were in danger of never finding it! The long grass also meant that every time he went outside he’d get wet. We tried to find a key for the shed to see if there was a mower in there but no luck - we’d have happily cut it ourselves if we could find one. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would return.

No ice cube tray, and a welcome basket would be a good idea. The cottage was lovely and a great back garden for our dog. Ideal location for using the bus. The Forge was lovely for a meal. We would return if they made the parking area bigger.

Beautiful views out the back, would have been lovely in the summer to sit out as it is so peaceful and ideal for our child and the dogs. Thank you again for letting us bring both of our girls as they are part of our family too! It was lovely and clean on our arrival, we hope that we left it as clean as when we arrived. The only downside is the two chairs in the living room. They have a tendency to tip up unawares as our son found out and the floor is quite unforgiving!! Apart from that it is a beautiful 10 out of 10 cottage, we can't thank you enough

  • "Love this cottage, great location, nice and modern practical with walled garden stone floors , underfloor heating perfect, but."

... the downstairs bathroom should be in the description as them trips to the loo during the night are a pain and could be problematic for elderly. Also half a toilet roll, no fuel or fire lighters for log burner, and un lockable inner porch door, just needs a bolt on it. These small things that would make it perfect, it was our 2nd time there and would go again ,because we can deal with the downstairs bathroom because all the plusses out weigh the few negatives

I wasn't a fan of the swivel chairs in the lounge! The worst thing about the cottage is the parking space at the front, its so tight to get in and out of, some people would really struggle.

  • "Cherry cottage was gorgeous, beautiful enclosed garden overlooking fields for our dog."

Parking was very tight in the front, but manageable if you’re a good driver. The bathroom is downstairs so people should be aware of this if you have to get up in the night. The pub oppersite was great, very friendly staff and wonderful food, especially the Sunday roast. Would definitely recommend, just be aware of the above items.

  • "The cottage is very well maintained and has high quality decor and furniture also very clean."

The location is in a nice quite village but handy for Whitby town centre as it is only 3-4 miles away. The only drawbacks were the downstairs toilet, as my husband found this difficult when he had to get up during the night (not great for people of age and disability). We found that the bed was very firm and lastly there was a tight, awkward space to park outside the cottage, although the landlady at the pub next door kindly offered a parking space there if we wanted it.

  • "Lovely comfortable holiday home."

Good quality decor and furnishings. Convenient parking space right in front and wonderful enclosed outdoor space which our dog loved to run around in. The previous residents had not picked up after their dog however so there was quite a lot of poo for us to clean up. The property was clean but very dusty - could have benefited from a flick round with a duster from the cleaner before we arrived. We had a fantastic holiday and I would thoroughly recommend the property. It is also in a great location. Aislaby is pretty and quiet and only a short distance away from all the amazing coastal and moorland towns and villages nearby - perfect for exploring. The Forge pub a couple of doors down is friendly and welcoming and does great food at reasonable prices. Thank you so much for a brilliant stay.

We had a lovely stay and would consider returning in the future. The only real downside is the driveway isn’t adequately described in the listing. The driveway itself is ample size for the majority of cars however the lane accessing the driveway isn’t and takes some manoeuvrings, we managed to get our car on the drive (average sized family car) eventually. Afterwards we decided to park on the roadway where there is ample parking. We’ve marked our review down purely because of the parking which is probably a fault of Sykes rather than the owners.

No room downstairs to sit comfortably around the table to eat - as my 12 year old grandchild said - she felt very cramped all week. The parking at the front is only suitable for a very small car - even then it would take great driving skills to manoeuvre into the space. Felt strongly that Sykes Cottages had misled us - no fault of the owners to whom we thank for the cleanliness and beautifully appointed facilities.

With regards to some comments about the small driveway; I was able to reverse my Ford Kuga into it but if you're not a confident driver there is ample, safe on-road parking. I would recommend catching the local hourly bus, Park and Ride (both approximately £5 family return) or local taxi (£8.50) into Whitby as the town itself can get incredibly visit. The views from the back garden are wonderful with the sheep grazing in the adjacent field. You can access the delightful local pub, The Forge, via a small alley to the left of the driveway. The cottage itself, although small, was ideal for a family of 4. It was incredibly clean and all of the amenities we required were there. There was nothing negative about our stay and I thoroughly recommend Cherry Cottage.
