We arrived at the cottage and was impressed with the care and consideration given. The milk and coffee left, with tunnocks teacakes was gratefully welcomed. Everything down to doggy poobags had been considered. The cottage was within a courtyard, formerly used for stables. The conversion was to a high standard and the location in a village to the south of Malton was idyllic, surrounded by farmland.

Thank you for your lovely comments and we are so pleased all was ok and that our location suited you too. We just want our guests to enjoy their break with us and we strive to keep it homely. We try to provide everything needed, we have stayed in many cottages ourselves over the years and sometimes things have not been provided that should have been....and we do not want that to happen in our cottages ! If our guests are happy then so are we. Kind regards Hilary and Alan Property Owner

Dutch Blues is a converted stable that makes for a surprisingly spacious and very comfortable holiday home. The lovely owners (who we understand are retiring soon) have really thought about what you might need and just about everything you could want is there. Little things like a small bottle of cooking oil, washing up liquid and some milk in the fridge were really appreciated. The walk in shower was smashing and the hot water was really hot. The bedroom was roomy and the bed comfy. The position is great, being just a few miles from Malton which is a splendid town packed full of delightful foodie venues. Fabian Poirot's macarrons are not to be missed! And it's only about a 25 minute drive to great walks on the North York Moors and a little less to Castle Howard. We would have been very happy to have stayed for much longer and we whole heartedly recommend both Dutch Blues and the area as a whole.

We are delighted with your wonderful feedback and your lovely comments about the area in general. We try to make it home from home, having ourselves visited some cottages whilst on holiday and finding that quite a few were not ones that we would want to go back to....we aimed to want our guests to be comfortable and happy here and even want to return, never say never ! lovely to meet you take care and thanks again for taking time to leave feedback Hilary and Alan Property Owner

  • "The cottage was very clean, very tidy, well laid out and very comfortable."

We didn't want for anything except, perhaps a couple of fans - one in the sitting room and one in the bedroom as it was so hot. Unfortunately the courtyard was not as we expected, as it was very small and when I read the information I thought there was a garden. Unfortunately we never got to sit in the courtyard, because the people who were in the end house, with a garden, chose to sit in the courtyard a lot of the time. We therefore could not sit out there with our dogs. We did feel that the cottage really wasn't suitable for dogs, certainly our two dogs, but perhaps more suitable for small dogs, bearing in mind that every time you wanted to let the dogs out to do their business you had to walk down the lane to allow this to happen. As for walks, which I was led to believe by the write up on the cottages were nearby, this we found was not the case. You could only walk down the lane with the dogs on leads as there was nowhere to let them off to run naturally. The only time we would take them for a proper walk was by taking the car and finding an area that was big enough for them to run and have a good walk in a more secure area, where there weren't cars. The owners of the cottages were really lovely and very welcoming and kept the cottages in an extremely good condition. Unfortunately for us, we will not go there again, due to the reasons above. Not a place on my tick list to go back to.

Thank your for your feedback. The courtyard is communal with my other two properties and the advert will be updated to reflect this. Dogs of all sizes are welcome of course, and there are many dog walking areas in the local district, I have now included information at the property regarding local facilities for dogs. We are thrilled that you found us so welcoming and that you enjoyed the property, as we do take great care and pride in it. Property Owner

The only down side for us was the local pub within walking distance (which is something we always look for) called "The Bay Horse" only served food one evening a week on a Tuesday which is Pie Night and they also have very limited opening times. This meant we had to drive further afield. So this would prevent us going back even though the cottage was really nice.
