Lovely quiet rural setting. A rarity amongst cottages, in this one everything in the kitchen actually worked and had a comprehensive list of utensils. The wood- burner was easy to use Washer and dryer was a bonus Great welcome pack Thank you and well done Martin

One little thing would be happier if there was a hand rail in the bath for the shower. Other than that just perfect. Regards Janet and Kelvin Burton

  • "The cottage was lovely and comfortable as described."

However the sitting out, garden area was a disappointment. We always choose accommodation with a comfortable sitting out area even if it's only a small one. This was overgrown, weeds, nettles etc it looked like it still had all the winter debris, proper unkept. There were no seating cushions as shown in photograph and my clothes got dirty when I sat down. A real disappointment especially as the cottage was so nice. Danby village and local pubs great.

Thankyou for your feedback, it's much appreciated and gives us the opportunity to keep improving. Property Owner

  • "Loved staying at Pheasant Cottage."

Appreciated the welcome pack. The cottage has character and charm and great base to reach out into the North York Moors. Great base if want to visit all the sites associated with Captain James Cook too from where born, went to school, did apprenticeship and finally Whitby. Overall a fantastic holiday.

Very relaxing. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. A little bit more crockery and cutlery would have been useful, to save frequent washing-up, but otherwise 5/5.

  • "A cosy well equipped cottage perfect for two in a great location - meaning we could enjoy great walks from the door."

The email and phone call from the owner before our holiday was extremely helpful and at the cottage there was ample information about facilities (at the cottage and locally) as well as leaflets re things to do - including in our case a helpful brochure of local walks from the National Park Information Centre. One thing I would note however was that the smoke detector seemed extremely sensitive - it went off with alarming regularity every time I used the grill. Other than that we had a great holiday in a lovely cottage in a lovely spot on the Moors.

Very well equipped, beautiful, comfortable beds with lovely outdoor area. So kind of the owners to leave such a generous welcome pack and have the stove all set up ready to light, disappointed that the weather was too warm to get to light it! Location was great for family getaway, very peaceful and picturesque, with a super pub that does food 5 minutes away.

It was lovely, very clean and comfortable with everything that we needed. It was warm and snug and was perfect for coming back to after a day exploring. The village is very quiet and peaceful, a great place to unwind, however there is a co-op nearby for essentials and a fantastic bakery in Danby, not one to be missed. Would love to stay here again as there so much to do and see in the area.

It was also in a very quiet location giving us a good nights sleep after our excertions. My only criticism would be the checking in and checking out times which I know are dictated by the current pandemic but a little bit of adjustment to 4pm in and 10am out would make all the difference.
