• "Lovely property."

  However used to having a welcome pack from other properties we have stayed in. Did feel this would have helped. Info about the area. For example nearest shop,chemist,etc. Important info for the property. The fire alarm in the kitchen was far too close to the cooker and kept going off. This was minor but annoying. Couldnt fault how clean in was. Lovely touches with the bbq hut and area next to the hot tub.

• "We had a wonderful stay at Lawnswood."

  Scarborough is just a short drive away and we also took the steam train to Goathland. The house has a real wow factor as you walk through to the back of the house and the garden is just magical, with so much to explore! It's great for familys (our party spanned 3 generations and we all loved it). The bbq cabin was gorgeous and we all had a great time toasting marshmallows (kindly left by the owners), surrounded by twinkling lights. We also made use of the cosy outdoor lounge / bar area in the evenings, listening to owls hooting in the trees. The games room, hot tub and children's tree house were also fab! All generations were catered for. The owner has obviously gone above and beyond to make the home a special place to stay, with lots of attention to detail that gives the home a cosy and relaxed feel. If you are a family who like nature, adventure and a bit of magic, then you are sure to love it. We will definitely return!!

• "Absolutely perfect for a large family get-together."

• "We had a wonderful stay at Lawnswood!"

  The property was fantastic, very well set up and very comfortable, and the local area was just beautiful. The garden especially was amazing for little ones, we really loved the treehouse and all the secret spaces in the woods! Thankyou so much!

• "The property is a great space but I think if there was 10 people in your party it might feel a bit cramped, we had 6 people and struggled to all sit comfortably if you all want to watch the TV."

  The garden was absolutely wonderful and a great place for children, so much to explore. The house could benefit from a deep clean, the insides of the cupboards felt a bit unclean. The shower/bath in the main bathroom desperately needs some light.

• "This property was dirty and we couldn’t use the oven as it was so bad ."

  the hob is hit and miss as well , took 25 mins to boil an egg . It really spoilt our family holiday with my 94 yr old mum as we kept having to take her in and out to go for food . I am surprised nobody has complained before .

• "Fabulous location, great facilities."

  My 4 year old granddaughter loved the garden and hot tub, she said it was like a secret garden. Could do with sharper kitchen knives, better lighting in the shower area, more t towels and bin bags. Overall fantastic stay and the good weather was a bonus.

• "Lawnswood is a good house for a group or extended family stay with a great garden."

  As you walk through the wow factors increase from a lovely, well-equipped living space through to a large lawn, “hobbit house” with twinkly lights and BBQ, games room, slide and play area for children, outdoor “chill zone” and bar area through to the hot tub. Very comfortable and the mezzanine level in the house is ideal for a family with small children.

• "What a beautiful property for a family getaway."

  Was apprehensive after reading some previous reviews but don’t let that put you off, the property was spotless, decorated for the festive period, loads of games for the kids, hot tub heated for arrival and extra little touches like Xmas marshmallow sticks in the bbq hut and a welcome basket with Prosecco didn’t go amiss. The surrounding area is equally as stunning. Wish we could have stayed longer and already talking about returning over summer. Thank you Teresa.

• "Fantastic property which was spacious and clean."

  The upstairs rooms were perfect for a family with young children and the other rooms made it a wonderful set up for staying with extended family. We stayed over the Christmas period and everything had been thought of, lovely little decorations all over the house and garden, a beautiful tree and even festive table wear. It really made our Christmas family get away special. The garden is an incredible space with hot tub, games room and BBQ hut. The kids (old and young) found lots to do and explore in the garden giving a real feel of space. Such a fantastic place, we will look to book again.

• "Lovely property, the garden is amazing and the pictures in the listing dont do that and the lovely buildings near the hot tub justice A few small changes would make this property excellent."

  Overall the property was very good and we had a lovely stay and its location is excellent to see the local area. The following comments are not major issues but items that would make a stay here better in our opinion. Welcome pack - so all the appliances are explained and easier to use. Also we found that at least one of the frying pans did not work with the induction hob so may not be compatible. The george foreman grill looked either dirty or corroded when we went to use it so used the excellent air fryer instead. Heat/smoke alarm is badly sited in the kitchen and we found every time we opened the oven when cooking it went off. Games room with the football table in has a leak in the roof and smells of damp so we did not spend a lot of time in there. Batteries in two of the remotes needed changing to get the tv and sky working when we arrived. Had to buy these as we could not find any in the house. Outside security light near the front door did not come on fully but flashed so needs replacing or repairing. Its the only light at the front so meant it was very dark at night when going to the car or bins etc. The shower in the main bathroom is very good but with is quite dark with the curtain closed. Our kid did not use it due to this, but used one of the other showers instead. It would also be helpful if there was a good torch in the property to help navigate the large garden at night to get to the hot tub etc at the end of the garden. We used our phones but wasnt ideal.

• "The house was amazing."

  The outdoor and garden area was great and really makes the house what it is. The house had everything you need. The only negative thing I have to say is the downstairs bedroom nearest to the door the guests said it had a musty smell but didn’t affect myself as the rest of the house was was great.

• "What an absolute magical place this is!"

  From the moment you arrive you can’t quite imagine what is behind the doors. The house itself is beautifully furnished, the bedrooms so so cosy, very comfy beds and clean throughout. The garden is the hidden gem for us! Like a secret garden with never ending things situated, the outside bbq hut which we had marshmallows on the open fire, the outside bar seating area with wood fire stove and the hot tub at the end of the garden made this an added bonus! A family get together that will never be forgotten, making memories in such an amazing place! To note, the butchers in the village is one of the best we’ve been to for pies, meat, cakes you name it! Absolutely recommended for anyone looking to book in the area it will not disappoint!

• "A lovely place to stay and wonderful for our multigenerational group."

  A garden of dreams with so many great facilities. The house was lovely but not enough chairs for our party and the crockery was not great lots with chips and scratches. For a house at this cost I would expect better. The house was also incredibly hot due to the glass frontage (which is beautiful) but would benefit from blinds or curtains. Generally clean but some furniture that may not be used was as much - such as the bedrooms were very dusty. However, overall it is wonderful house just some minor issues. The hire of the beach hut was a great bonus and added so much to our wonderful holiday.

• "Lovely property in a great location for exploring the area."

  Lovely and quiet with only normal countryside noises to be heard. Property is not as big as the photos suggest but it is still quite large and is exactly like the pictures. The single beds upstairs are very creaky and possibly need looking at. Facilities are great and well maintained. Hot tub was lovely. Gardens are very well maintained. Property was very clean except for the odd cobweb. Overall the property offers a lot in terms of facilities, plenty of games for families and children and a slide for smaller children in the garden.

• "Another good find through Sykes!"

  - everything we needed was provided. It was full of surprises that the children (and adults)loved and thoroughly enjoyed & plenty of space for adults to relax and chill. Location was ideal for us both in the village and local area. We would love to return asap.
