  • "A lovely cottage with everything you need in and around you."

Our main problem was the parking. It was horrible. We ended up having to park in the main car park costing 9 pounds for 2 days. If I was the property owner I would consider having a word with the cleaning team . Crumb's on the table cover and biscuit wrappers in the sitting room . Tissue paper under the bed . I understand that it's a new rental and lessons have to be learned. But good luck for the future .

Thank you for your review. I will certainly raise the issues with the cleaning company. I am in the process of looking into parking options at the moment. I really appreciate your views, which I do take seriously and am sorry you encountered some issues. Property Owner

  • "Good value for money, warm and cosy, traffic noise but good location for exploring."

Over three floors and steep stairs for elderly people, Couple of wine glasses would be worthwhile and better internet. Shower was fine , facilities not very private. Should mention local farm shop brilliant and nice store and chip shop nearby.

Thank you for your feedback. I have now arranged for wine glasses to be placed in the cottage. I am grateful to you for bringing this to my attention. I am glad you enjoyed the local stores and chip shop. Property Owner

  • "While this cottage is very quaint and pretty, it had to be one of the worst places I have stayed."

Information about the cottage stated, WIFI and cosy fire - no WIFI and no fuel for the fire, apparently you had to go out and buy a bag of coal, and do it yourself, we didn't bother. Parking is very limited, we had to park in a street about a quarter of a mile away. This issue is not highlighted in the sykes Information. Location is excellent in the village of thornton, a pub literally across the road, a shop a few doors away. On entry to the cottage, it was clean and tidy, facilities were adequate. There was an Information leaflet about the cottage itself, but no local info about buses, taxis, restaurants, local walks or amenities, this would have been very helpful. The TV did not work, so had to contact the emergency number, a really nice couple came out and sorted the problem, apparently this couple don't own the cottage, they just have a spare key. The bed was so uncomfortable I could not sleep in it, resulting in me trying to sleep on the sofa. Yes I was fully aware the building was 3 floors, but I was not prepared for how steep the stairs were. After 3 nights of no sleep, I was attempting to go down the stairs, slipped and fell to the bottom, so we made the decision to leave and go home a day early. This cottage is for 2 people, with limited space,so don't understand why there is a huge dining table for 6,with 6 chairs round it in the kitchen. So all in all, this cottage needs more honest information, more local information. In a previous review wifi was mentioned and the owner stated, they would consider it,well this is 2025,wifi is needed,

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay at Corner Cottage. In response, I would highlight that we have never advertised the cottage as offering WiFi, but repeat that this is something that I am looking in to. I am preparing a leaflet detailing local information and thank you for highlighting this omission. Parking in Thornton Le Dale is very limited, but I am currently investigating possibilities. I am sorry to hear you encountered problems with the TV, but am glad to hear that your issues were rapidly resolved. Corner Cottage has only recently started to be rented out and so it is a new mattress that has been purchased, to ensure our visitors have the cleanest and freshest mattress. The preference regarding the firmness of a mattress is very subjective and it is unfortunate that this was not to your liking. I have always advertised that Corner Cottage is subject to steep stairs and low ceilings. There are also pictures provided of the stairways, to enable guests to view this prior to their booking. The website does ask to "bear this in mind." Regarding the Kitchen table, prior guests have stated that they find this useful for placing items on, not just for dining around. I am glad to hear that you found the cottage quaint and pretty, clean, tidy and adequately equipped and that you found its location excellent. Whilst Corner Cottage may not have been for you, I do hope that you return to Thornton le Dale. It is a beautiful part of the world. Property Owner

  • "The cottage just needs a few things to take it from fine, to the next level."

Shower is lukewarm, almost unpleasant in winter would be horrible Bigger fluffy towels WiFi is a must Sharp knives, bread knife We didn’t understand the TV channels? Rearrange the bedroom (make to little nook into some sort of clothes storage and ditch the wardrobe Replace the black/yellow tape with mind your head signs, less like a building site vibe!

Thank you so much for your comments regarding Corner Cottage, which I have seriously considered. I have ordered a set of knives, including bread knife and will replace the yellow and black tape with "mind your head signs." I am sorry that you were not able to use the shower or TV. These have been tried and tested many times prior to your stay and functioned correctly. However, I appreciate using different electrical equipment can sometimes be confusing. When I am next at the cottage, I will leave instructions for future guests. I did also leave a contact number in the welcome sheet, should you have required any assistance during your stay. I also understand that Sykes have an emergency line to contact. I understand you did not utilise either of these services. Had you done so, we would have happily assisted you. In relation to WiFi, we have specifically not advertised the same being available. However, this is something that we will look into in due course. In terms of towels, these are new and of the required size. I have also checked with the laundry service to ensure they meet the required standard. I appreciate that the layout of rooms is very subjective and appreciate your views. I hope you enjoyed what Thornton le Dale and the surrounding area had to offer. Property Owner
