  • "Lovely, warm and cosy cottage that has everything you need."

Set in an interesting, quiet village with walks from the door. Within easy reach of lots of places to visit in the area. We loved it here.

Winston is a quiet, pretty village in a great location, as you say in your feedback. We are so pleased that you loved your stay at our cottage and enjoyed visiting the many places in and around the area during your stay there. Property Owner

  • "The beds and furniture were too low for my husband of 78."

He has some mobility issues and struggled to get up from these. Also the duvets were very heavy, perhap you could offer lighter ones with blankets. Couldn't fault the cleanliness or how well equipped the cottage was. Thankyou for the welcome pack too. We would recommend but only if people didn't have problems like us.

Thank-you for your feedback and your recommendations. Property Owner

  • "A lovely comfy cottage."

No noise from the adjoining neighbours. A very good idea to remove part of the wall so we could park our car at the front, instead of on the road.

Glad you found our cottage comfortable and were able to take advantage of the newly created parking area too. Property Owner

The only thing I would recommend that comfortable garden chairs were provided as the garden is a lovely place to sit in the sun ,luckily we had our own

Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate the recommendation for comfy garden chairs but unfortunately we have nowhere to store them when the weather turns bad again. Thankfully, as you said, you brought your own and were able to enjoy the garden in the sunshine. Property Owner

Beds were clean and comfortable. Kitchen well stocked with equipment and also included a welcome pack. Ideally situated for exploring the local area either by car or by bus. We would definitely book this cottage again if given the opportunity.

Everything you need plus more. Cottage is so cosy and comfortable, well appointed. Vanessa always does a fantastic welcome basket with milk in the fridge. I am sure we will be back in 2023. Thank you

Thank you for all your great comments once again. We are so pleased you enjoy your time at the cottage. A Happy New Year to you from Vanessa and myself and we will look forward to seeing you again this year. All the best Sally-Anne Property Owner

  • "We found Rose Cottage to be very cosy and comfortable, clean and well equipped with a handy welcome pack."

Lovely pleasant garden to sit out in when weather is pleasant. Hourly bus route through the village between Barnard Castle and Darlington. Plenty of places to visit in the surrounding area without going too far, great countryside for walking. We found access into the cottage of 17.30pm to be a rather late arrival time. Access at most properties is usually between 15.00 hrs and 1600 hrs

Thank-you for your feedback and advice for future guests on amenities available to them. The admittance time to the property was altered during Covid to allow time for extra cleaning to be done and it has been an oversight not amending it. We will address this immediately. Property Owner

  • "Rose Cottage is a charming property with a spacious, well-equipped kitchen, beautiful bathroom with separate bath and shower, and comfortable sitting room."

There is also a lovely garden at the rear of the property. Vanessa, our host, was so lovely and helpful and was there for any queries that we might have during our stay. The only quibble would be that the bed was a bit uncomfortable (could do with a mattress topper), but it is very quiet and we did sleep well during our stay. We would have no problem recommending this property.

Thank you for your feedback on your stay at Rose Cottage. We appreciate all the positive comments you have made and will strive to improve the slightly less positive issues you have made us aware of. Property Owner

  • "Really lovely, warm and cosy cottage."

Perfect size for our family with 2 young children, great size kitchen and bathroom and great to have enclosed garden too. Had everything we needed and great location near barnard castle and plenty of lovely scenery. Really appreciated the welcome pack - the children squealed with delight when they saw the haribos included! Dishwasher and washing machine also very useful. We would recommend and would be back although having since acquired a puppy it’s a shame the cottage doesn’t accept dogs. Thanks for a lovely home from home.

Thank you for your generous review. We are pleased to hear that you had a pleasant stay and liked the area too. It is a beautiful part of the country. Having a new puppy will be great for you all to enjoy plenty of walks in the countryside! Property Owner

However, we think there might be a problem with the central heating which made terrible banging noises which only stopped if we ran the hot water tap but then started up again. I think it should be mentioned to the owners.
