Master bedroom with en-suite very large and spacious. Kitchen very well equipped with everything needed to prepare a meal. Extra items like tea, coffee, sugar, milk & biscuits were greatly appreciated. Living room had TV with Sky etc, DVD player and plenty of board games for rainy day entertainment but luckily the sun did shine for us. Would definitely recommend to friends and relatives.

Brilliant location for walks, bus stop in the village where the costal bus runs. We ordered a taxi to go into whitby which wasn't expensive. We ate twice in the local pub in the village which was beautiful. Would definitely recommend and will be booking again!

  • "Absolutely lovely stay, comfortable, and has everything you need within the cottage."

The cottage had been cleaned to a high standard. Pub just across the road serves amazing food. There is no little convenience store, or bakery, which would have been nice, but just a 10 min drive you will find Sainsbury’s, food warehouse etc, where you can stock up. When we entered the cottage, I was taken back, as in reality it looked so much better, than the photos, fresh grey and white throughout, and cozy lounge. We would defiantly return again, the property quaint, even though on a main road, it really didn’t bother us, not that busy really, and that’s in August. Lovely stay.

  • "Excellent Cottage located in the small Village of Hawsker roughly equidistant between Robin Hoods Bay & Whitby."

The Cinder Trail, a Cycle/Walking path is just round the Corner & the Cleveland Way, a Coastal Path is approximately 1 mile away. Very frequent Bus Service from Scarborough to Whitby via Robin Hoods Bay passes the Door. Good Pub, Hare & Hounds, across the Road with Danby League Quoits on Monday Nights. Really enjoyed our stay there (the Weather helped) & will certainly go again!

  • "This cosy warm cottage was ideally situated, just off the Cinder Track and less than a mile to the Cleveland way along the cliffs - we had a lovely 5 mile walk into Whitby along the cliffs, definitely the way to approach for the first time!"

The 3 miles into Robin Hoods Bay along the cinder track was easy to cycle with gentle gradients possible even for 5 year-old legs. If your children decide they don't fancy the walk back, there is a bus stopping 100 yds from the house going to Whitby one way and Robin Hoods Bay the other. We didn't get to sample the food at the Hare and Hounds as we left it too late to book - be warned! But the house was super comfy and well appointed with fast wifi, DVDs and TV, as well as jigsaws and games for rainy days. We would definitely book again and the communication was excellent.

  • "Beautifully clean for a pet friendly house."

Great location with lots of lovely walks, a pub serving good food and easy access to NYM's (if its foggy on the coast its usually clear by Thornton Dale) The reason for downgrading to:-) was, the beds which as is often the case they were very firm, and the fridge was a bit on the small side. The outside space was limited but very usable in the appropriate weather. Plenty of games, books, DVD's and kitchen equipment.

The picture of the cottage was a bit deceiving as the garden area looked bigger in the photo but was quite small in reality. The cottage was comfy, spacious and homely with everything you would need, only criticism would be that the windows locks in the kitchen and middle bedroom need replacing. Overall highly recommended and would return in the future.

  • "The house was lovely and warm, the heating was on before we arrived, this was much appreciated as we stayed in terrible weather with almost continuous rain."

The house was very clean, excellent job by the cleaner. Our dog escaped from the enclosed garden by scrambling up the dry stone wall, most of the wall has a fence on top but there is a small section without a fence on top. We would have found it handy if there had been a cloth in the bathroom and a cloth in the kitchen to wipe up water on the floors. There appeared to be dvds but no dvd player. Wifi and internet was good. Kitchen well equipped. Were woken at 6.45 one morning by the neighbours dogs barking, but they did not bark all the time.

Thank you for your feedback, I'm sorry to here your dog was able to climb the wall to escape, we will look to improve this in future. The cloth is a helpful tip thank you. Regarding the DvD player this is built into the side of the TV. Thank you for you comments and we hope to see you again in the future. Property Owner

We often stay in holiday cottages but this was our first time with 'Sykes'. Avoncroft was in an area we have often stayed in but prior to this in a Motorhome. In our later years we want more comfort and certainly found it this holiday. When we arrived the house was lovely and warm as the heating had been put on. In the kitchen we found plenty of chocolate biscuits, tea, sugar, coffee and a pint of milk. The icing on the cake was a tv in the Masterbedroom, and, despite it being mid March, perfect weather - sunshine practically every day - God Willing - we will return........

It was my husbands birthday and the owner very kindly left a huge celebration cake and candles, what a lovely thought. The cottage was easy to use and very well stocked with utensils, crockery and cookery items. I don't think the pictures do it justice. It was wonderfully warm and cosy in the cottage. Location was great, it was easy to walk to Robin Hood's Bay and Whitby, along a well maintained cinder track which is only a couple of minutes walk from the cottage. The pub over the road was very friendly but clearly a very popular as an eatery as well, booking is definitely advised, would recommend The Windmill in Stainsacre, really accommodating.
