"A lovely family annual vacation as always."
A few issues during this stay with our cottage, again like last year smells of dogs, but as to be expected for a lovely village that caters for families with pets. We brought along some air fresheners. Also kitchen fire extinguisher was taken for testing several days in to our stay and it didn’t return before we left. Also the windows do not lock upstairs and unsafe for children. These windows open very wide and they’re is risk of an accident. Keys in the window locks don’t work and seemed to be jammed in with incorrect keys. However I always find the woman there very friendly and I’m not one to complain, so got on with it. Lovely children’s play area onsite. Good laundrette facility on site, don’t forget your coins. Great biscuits and drinks hamper on arrival along with a cleaning cloth and sponge. Thank you :)

"A very warm welcome from the owner on arrival, the cottage was great, warm comfortable and quaint."
The approach to out cottage (rose) was lovely, well trimmed hedges an arch, very nice. The village of hunmanby was only a short walk away and the pub,the horseshoe was even closer, the food was lovely too. The only negative to our stay was the on-site pub was only open Fri and sat night from 7, but in the owners defence the description did say it would be subject to season opening times, but I would have liked to know when the seasonal times began and the hours it was open.
Other than that, we do recommend this site and would come back again.

Friendly staff.

"The cottage was better than i expected, it was very well situated, possibly a small bench to sit on outside the front of the property would be ideal!"
Thoroughly enjoyed my short break!

"We liked the cottage, and the overall make up of the site."
The set of cottages grouped together was a very cosy setting. Parking close to the cottages was good, but could be larger. Could be trouble parking during busy months. The cottage itself was very nice. Bathroom small, but OK. Had a bit of trouble with the heating. Was told there were 2 switches. 1 for hot water, 1 for heating. Tried turning the heating switch off, but radiators were still hot. Had to go and turn off individual radiators in the end. I did not think this was worth reporting. Cottage could do with new sofa's. Existing sofa's are getting a bit tired. My only complaint would be about the on site bar. This was only open on a Friday & Saturday night. Understandable during October, but more opening hours would have been nice. The one time we went into the bar, we found out that we were only allowed on the outer terrace area with dogs. This terrace was pretty dark and dingy with picnic style tables and benches. These were not very comfortable. We therefore only stayed for one drink. I mentioned to the lady in reception about taking dogs into the bar, the next day. I was told, sorry, but its the law. Sorry, but I have not heard of any law regarding taking dogs into bars and pubs. There were many pubs in the local area that allowed dogs in. Some did have dedicated areas, but these areas were just as comfortable as the rest of the pub. Some pubs allowed dogs throughout. So it was disappointing that we could not sit in a more comfy area in the bar with our 2 well behaved dogs. We wouldn't let this put us off though. We would gladly come again, if the price is right.

"My daughter and I are both disabled."
I hadnt realised that I couldnt park directly outside the cottage to unload the car. This meant we had to carry our many heavy bags from the car park to the cottage.
For ablebodied people this would not have been a problem and Im sure if I had thought to ask in advance someone would have carried them for us. A large wheeled trolley in the car park would have helped.
Similarly the front door at the top of 3 narrow steps needed both hands to unlock. This meant putting down the bags down at the bottom of the steps (often onto wet ground) and going back for them. When your legs and back hurt and you have no strength left at the end of the day this felt like hard work.
Having said this- the cotttage was warm and welcoming and we had a lovely holiday. The location was brilliant and the wardens both friendly and helpful. The site was well kept and provided access to grass, and several paths for the dog to romp on.
We were entertained by owls in thel evenings and the the sky was dark enough to watch the stars.
We will certainly be going back again and will know how to prepare better. Thankyou.
PS the Horseshoe pub in the village made a gorgeous Sunday lunch. Perfect.

"We had a pleasant week and enjoyed it, however, the advert for Rose Cottage is very misleading."
A patio and furniture are advertised, however, there are neither at this cottage. On close inspection the photo actually shows a garden bench sited in the flower bed. This patio was extremely important to us as we have a larger dog and we required somewhere to sit outside therefore the property has been mis-described

"We had a really nice autumn break in this nice warm spacious cottage."
Due to Covid restrictions many facilities were closed on site but we were only looking for a comfortable base and were aware of closures. Mid way between Bridlington and Scarborough it was a lovely place to stay. We hope to visit again during summertime when hopefully this virus will have died out.

"Orchard farm holiday park was very neat and tidy with friendly staff."
It was a great jumping off point to visit many places along the coast. I would imagine that once all the holiday village facilities were open, it would be an even better experience.
The sofas and double bed mattress could do with updating but apart from that we had a great break away.
