The parking was easy with spaces either in front of the house or within 100 yards or so. The log burner was a plus as it got cold during our stay.

It’s fewer than ten minutes to the sea. The parking arrangements worked well - we could park conveniently each day using the discs provided in the house. Sewerby Hall was a great find because it had the brilliant World Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition as well as lovely gardens, a zoo and putting green. We were also able to get to Bempton Cliffs on a good weather day to see the extraordinary number of gannets, kittiwakes etc. Many thanks for the work done to make the house right for visitors to Scarborough.

The owner was in contact two days before our arrival with information for our stay. A welcome pack was left for us and fresh milk in the fridge. The owner even texted to see we had arrived okay! We found the house comfortable and well presented with everything you need. The location was ideal a short stroll to the nearest shop, bar and restaurant. The harbour and town centre were both a short walk away. Would recommend this to anyone looking to stay in Scarborough.

On road parking wasn't a problem as tickets were provided by the owners and, as the property is quite centrally placed, I was able to walk to the church, castle, South and North Bay, town and Peasholm Park without any problems. The steep stairs may not be convenient for someone with mobility issues but I would certainly recommend it to others and consider coming back myself.

The house was lovely and clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Thank you to the owners for the lovely gifts provided at the beginning of our stay. They were thoroughly enjoyed. The house is a 5 min walk from the south beach and the surrounding streets have many quirky vintage shops that we enjoyed visiting too. We didn’t always find parking right outside the house but this was not an issue as the surrounding streets often had free spaces. Everything is close by. We would definitely visit again!

  • "The Old School House was a lovely property that catered for our holiday needs."

It was clean, well presented and comfortable. The welcome pack - containing both essentials and treats - was a lovely touch and Michelle was very pleasant, checking we had arrived safely etc. The size of the sitting room was comfortable for three people but I imagine could’ve been a squeeze of four people were staying at the property; there was one small double sofa and a large single (like a 1 1/2 person) armchair. Perfect for small kids but but teens or adults may have struggled somewhat. The location of the property is fantastic in terms of walking distance to most amenities in Scarborough, which was great, although there were a few nights where locals were heard arguing / shouting in the street, late at night. The parking situation is on-street parking but this was not an issue and we seldom didn’t find somewhere one the street to park; the parking tickets issued by the property were welcomed. There seemed to be a log of dog faeces on the pavements surrounding the property; although I appreciate this is nothing to do with the property, it does detract from the overall pleasantness of the property / the locality. Overall a fantastic holiday property, priced about right. Thanks for making our holiday an enjoyable and comfortable one. Many thanks!

Full of charm, immaculately decorated and spotlessly clean. A relatively easy walk down onto the seafront of South Bay. Parking is on a first come, first served basis but we managed to park outside the cottage every day, without any problems. We had a problem with the wi-fi on day one but the owners Tim and Michelle sorted it out immediately. The local market hall is worth a visit and does a lovely full English breakfast for £2.30. Best breakfast in Scarborough. A day in Peasholm Park, with a bag of nuts, feeding the very tame squirrels is also worth it. As the above rating scores show, we would definitely recommend this place and will be revisiting it ourselves. Stayed in many places in Scarborough (hotels, b&b's and a couple of apartments) but this is the best.
