Thank you for your feedback and we are very disappointed you did not enjoy your stay at our Shepherds Hut, we aim to please every guest and we pride ourselves on cleanliness and comfort as seen in previous guest reviews. Had we have been made aware of any shortfalls upon your arrival then they would have been rectified immediately and without question. The Brae is located in a secluded spot on the periphery of the village and so we do have neighbours and on occasions including New Year, as is the case on your visit, it would not be unreasonable to expect to be able to hear their celebrations. Regarding the bedding, this is highly unusual and we can assure guests that all linen is laundered between guests and we have recently replaced bedding after your visit. Sykes Cottages have a dedicated helpline for guests staying in a property and we do also leave our owner contact number in the property welcome pack and would have assisted immediately if you had called us. We are sorry that you did not give us or Sykes the opportunity to help during your stay. Property Owner

Very private and felt very safe in these troubled times. The owners are charming and since Martin built the hut himself, they have managed to incorporate lots of design details to make maximum use of the space. We never felt cramped and had a very relaxing time. Another plus point for us is that it is perfect for those of us who travel without a car. There is a bus stop 2 minutes away and you can reach Scarborough in 25 minutes and Filey is not much further. In the other direction Pickering is even nearer. But there are also splendid walks straight from the door. On a ten mile hike via Troutbeck Mill we enjoyed perfect peace and lovely scenery. We will be back!

Super private up at the back end of the owners garden, and it has views over the countryside as it’s at the top of a little hill too. I can really see that the owners have paid attention to previous feedback and reviews- adding things like real glasses (for when not using the hot tub) and sun loungers when previous reviews have mentioned they would be a good thing to add. The owners were friendly and helpful, but left us to our own devices once they showed us around. The hot tub was lovely, and when we turned all the lights off the clouds let us do a little star gazing in the warmth of the tub too! I do have to reiterate the advice of previous reviewers though- it’s a bit of a squeeze up the driveway- but doable. The owners have large cars up there, and there is somewhere to turn around at the top, but it takes a bit of confidence / knowing your car! Location wise it’s a really good base to go to the east coast where there are good footpaths all the way along the coast. We parked in Scarborough, trained to Filey and then walked back. It’s a lovely place and we’ll definitely stay again!

Owners Paula, Martyn and Katy are really friendly and provided free range eggs and prosecco in the fridge for our arrival, which was a lovely touch. The hot tub is AMAZING and kept in a nice secluded garden to the rear of the hut. To the front, you have a lawned garden and some amazing views over the Yorkshire hills. It's a short drive (around 10 mins) to Scarborough and about 40 mins to Whitby, so it's nice and accessible.
