  • "Would highly recommend the the chalet as a holiday home."

Friendly warm welcome from the owner, and the chalet was spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable. Attention to detail made us feel at home, for example leaving toys, colouring pages and pencils out for my grandsons. Will definitely book again. 10/10

The property

Nestled on a working cattle farm, on the outskirts of the village of Welbury, seven miles from the market town of Northallerton, is this rustic detached cottage, The Chalet.

Privately fenced, this superb bungalow sits in the grounds of a farmhouse, and is accessed by a mile long farm track sitting adjacent to the Teesside/York railway line, with easy access to the A19 and enjoying views of the open countryside.

This single-storey property is more suited to those looking for a peaceful escape and has been equipped for those with limited mobility, with no internal steps, ramped access, grab handles, a raised toilet and a shower seat.

This is an ideal escape for couples, cyclists, walkers or a perfect holiday base for a group of six.

Be greeted by a private gated driveway, where you can leave your vehicle secure as you admire the rural land before you, home to livestock and far-reaching fields, open countryside and the North Yorkshire Moors.

Step up the ramp or access steps onto a lovely decking area to pass the threshold and into a utility room, complete with coat and shoe storage, a washing machine and a sink unit.

The adjoining shower room is ready to greet you after a day out exploring, having adventures and making memories in beautiful North Yorkshire.

Family relaxing time can be spent in the welcoming open-plan living space, decorated in neutral tones for an inviting atmosphere, home to a well-equipped kitchen nestled alongside a dining area with an oak table and six chairs, and a sitting area with a leather suite to sit and rest, engross in a novel or watch a movie on the Smart TV while cosying up to the woodburning stove.

French doors lead you back onto the outside decked area where you can enjoy the afternoon/evening sun.

Presented to a high standard is a lovely master bedroom with king size bed and fitted storage, a TV with DVD player and an en-suite bathroom complete with a basin, raised toilet, a separate walk-in shower cubicle and a bath tub, ideal for relaxing after a day out in the country.

You will also find a further double bedroom with fitted cupboards, vanity unit and TV with DVD player and a smaller third bedroom presented as a twin.

There is a private enclosed patio area to the front with a picnic table and an enclosed rear garden with a second patio area with dining furniture which captures the morning sun and has stunning views over the North Yorkshire Moors.

There is an array of good country walks from the doorstep, whilst the local town of Northallerton offers markets twice weekly, independent shops, excellent restaurants, tea rooms and the train station for excursions.

A golf course and leisure centre are also in the offering, or visit the James Herriott Experience in the historic market town of Thirsk, just a scenic drive away.

The immediate area has several farm shops and eateries with the nearest pub in Welbury Village, The Duke of Wellington, being 1.7 miles away.
