  • "The cottage and scenery was amazing!"

The host Rosie is lovely. The cottage had everything you would need and want. There are some lovely walks and a lovely little pub in the village. The hot tub was amazing, but ensure you are aware the price you pay is not the final price if you want use of the hot tub and if you want to bring a pet. (We used booking.com) Overall, we have had a wonderful stay. Thank you.

on our arrival she complained about how much it cost to run the hot tub and also about how much Sykes Cottages take from what we paid. most of the pans were not cleaned so I had to wash up before most things could be used, the hot tub steps were full of leaves and had to be swept. I am sending this feed back from home as we left at Tuesday dinner absolute disaster is all i can describe it as .

Cottage is very well catered for and the hot tub is great to relax in. Good sized private garden - not overlooked. Off road parking outside the cottage is ideal. The Wi-Fi was really good too. Would highly recommend getting shopping delivered upon arrival, as the nearest general shop and butchers are a 10-15 mins walk into the village, and the pub is a mile away. Great location for visiting the coastal villages.

Cant think of anything we would change, I'm 6'3and the beds were no problem, I even managed the doorways quite well, it's a cottage I expected things to be different , but coped with the height.i would say that Rosie covered most things I could think of , log fire starter kit and central heating, all big pluses, after a day out. We loved it , definatly repeatable , cant thank Rosie enough for sharing her cottage with us for a week..

Nice people in the village at the shop and wood supplier close to the cottage and Rosie the owner was really helpful. We visited with our 13 yr old son and WIFI was great signal for his gaming! Cottage is fab with hot tub and we loved the log burner. Fab little warm and bright room with dining table in it for mealtimes and nice kitchen. I forgot Tea towels and oven gloves but bought some nr Saltburn on one of our adventures out and about. It is no secret the beds and bathroom are small but we managed. We slept in the single beds, which are pushed together and son slept in small double and we were all comfy. Beds looked custom made for rooms and very high. Lovely place

In other properties let’s via your company we have had the basics provided such as oil and salt which we didn’t here . There was tea and coffee provided though and dog bowls Plates pans-utensils etc were perfect. Hot tub lovely and downstairs amazing upstairs we slept in twin room as main bedroom bed too small but we knew about this. Host was not available when we checked in but was great on the phone to make sure we knew how to get to the house but then persisted in wanting to come later to -we did not need further assistance- when she came she was lovely but we did not need we felt we couldn’t start cooking/relaxing etc In all the location and the cottage is amazing. Just the petty eye of hoteliers- we would recommend this place.

  • "What a gorgeous little cottage for the most cosy stay in the Yorkshire countryside."

Rosie is lovely and met us on arrival to give us a quick overview of everything and assured us she was on hand if we needed anything during our stay (which we didn’t as everything was super straight forward). The location is perfect for walks and local pubs and the views are amazing. The hot tub and log burner are perfect to end a day of exploring, we really didn’t want to leave. The only thing I’d say is that the bedrooms are quite a bit smaller than they look on the photos but it’s really not an issue and we slept really well during our stay (I would say it would probably a bit tight for four guests though even though there are two rooms as we ended up using one room to store all our belongings). We will definitely be visiting Swang Cottage again and definitely recommend for a relaxing break.

Nevertheless our 2022 holiday was just perfect. I am a warden on a caravan park and all we like to do is chill for two weeks and this was just that. Rosie is the perfect host, nothing is too much trouble a phone call is all that is needed if you need anything. You have everything you need as regards facilities, the two log burners are a bonus, warm and cozy and ofcourse the hot tub was used every day! The views are spectacular from the front window and the addition of the fenced off garden was an added bonus not having to worry about letting the dog out in the dark. Looking forward to January 2023 for 2 more weeks to relax. Thank you Rosie x Angie and Jim

  • "Cottage in a good location, however, don’t feel that photos do the cottage justice."

We was disappointed and felt the cottage lacked some TLC. We found a few faults that we felt could be rectified inside the cottage. Some of the lights weren’t working in the lounge, the garden had weeds and dead flowers and also a table that looked like it had been dumped there with the chairs around the side. Barbecue was filthy and we didn’t see a fire pit ( which apparently was advertised). Lights around the hot tub didn’t work, 2.plug sockets in the lounge not properly fixed to the wall. In the double bedroom there was 2 fittings handles on the wardrobe missing which resulted in a screw sticking out. TV would only work on catch up. No live TV. Would we come back again ?? NO. We only stayed due to the good weather .

This is a delightful, cosy cottage in the middle of stunning scenery. We were met by Rosie, the owner, who was lovely and explained everything to us. Rosie was always available for any help we needed. All covid precautions are taken at this cottage. The cottage was extremely clean and hand sanitisers were provided. The cottage is beautifully decorated and very well equipped. Rosie has managed extremely well to achieve a perfect balance between retaining the period charm of the cottage and including everything required for our modern lives. The icing on the cake is the lovely hot tub which was wonderful after a day out! The views from the cottage are exceptional, especially as the sun sets in the evening. Turn left from the gate and within 200 yards you are on the Yorkshire moors. Turn right from the gate and you are a short distance from the lovely village of Glaisdale. The cottage is very well situated to visit coastal villages such as Staithes, Sandsend and also very near to Whitby. It is also well placed to visit other areas of the moors such as Hutton-le-Hole. Thank you Rosie for allowing us to stay at such a special place.

Equipped brilliantly in the kitchen and throughout. Logs for the wood burners only a phone call away and delivered. Hot tub absolute bonus very relaxing. Dog friendly lovely back garden high stone built wall jack is a German shepherd he could see over it and there is a shear drop into a farmers field with sheep, but was safe. Only moan and more down to us as spoilt at home, with a water bed, the double mattress was very hard but the hot tub was there to relieve. This holiday was aimed as a relaxing break as being in the Leisure industry we hadn't had a break since last January, it was certainly that, but the scenery and walks that was available was in plenty. We have booked again for next year cant come quick enough. Well done all concerned.

It was clean, cosy, comfortable in a brilliant location to visit beautiful places, with or without getting in a car. It was well equipped. My husband & I are both shorter than average, but nonetheless, our feet hung out of the double bed at night. I think this is because the pillows on the double bed were as hard as rocks. If they'd been softer, we'd have been able to stay in the bed better. This is a minor complaint as the cottage is great & our holiday was fabulous. Just a possible tip to keep future visitors happier. We might well return.
