  • "What a peaceful and relaxing stay."

Downside - uncomfortable sofas. Upside - TOO MANY TO MENTION…but I’ll try: sooooo clean and tidy, such comfortable beds, pillows amazing (I even went and bought the same ones for home from M&S), furnishings top quality, heating so easy to use, first class board games in tip top condition, every charger you could need at hand, coffee machine with coffee waiting (could do with a set of small coffee cups), kitchen appliances looked like new, oven spotless and a good size, mini dishwasher and even tablets for use, all cleaning essentials at hand, dog bed and bowls, both front an back garden completely fenced in so felt safe when letting Doggo out (he searched and searched the perimeter for a way out but found no way of escaping-he’s also deaf so we worry so much about that), tidy garden…I could go on!!! We felt so relaxed and our family guests along with their doggos loved it too. What a perfectly splendid place to use as a base…that’s if you ever want to leave it to go out! Having the backdrop of the moored canal boats and swans was beautiful. Welcome note and goodie bag a lovely touch…even treats for the pets and the water dish already filled and waiting. Thankyou Jane and Jeff for a relaxing start to the festive season x

UPDATE: Brand new higher seat classic style sofas have now been installed at The Moorings ☺ Thank you for the marvellous review ♥, so happy your family & doggies had a great stay ☺. we really care about our guest's stay , having listened to guest feedback the only thing letting The Moorings down WAS the sofas, so we bought new ones ♥ (& small coffee cups). Beautiful location on the side of the canal with walks on the doorstep. The cottage was extremely clean, well equipped and cosy. The front and back gardens were fully enclosed and ideal for our little dog Buddy. There were lovely welcome touches on arrival and we found the information pack very helpful as we didn't know the area very well and as the weather was very favourable to us we were able to explore the country parks as well as the canal / washlands nearby. We have booked through Sykes many times and this is definitely one of our favourites , just that little bit different because of it's position and we are definitely looking at returning next year

Many thanks for taking time to review The Moorings and your fantastic feedback, really appreciate it ♥ We look forward to yourselfs & Buddy returning. Property Owner

My telephone contact with Sykes and the owners themselves was also second to none. I don't have any suggestions that could have improved our stay but as elderly visitors we did find the stairs rather steep and the sofas a bit on the low and soft side although the armchairs were perfect! The cottage was very clean and very cosy. Everything is provided. Maybe our only feedback would be that the decor in the lounge area is very dark and we had to have the lights on quite a bit due to the weather. However, that doesn’t detract from the cosy feel at night. The decor is tasteful throughout and the kitchen is lovely.

  • "What a fantastic stay we had."

There is not one thing I could say negative about the home or the owners from booking to leaving the property. This has been the best holiday home I have stayed in. Very high standard of cleanliness, the kitchen had everything and more you would need, we loved all the games the home had on offer and used quiet a few, the biggest hit was being able to feed the ducks and swans my daughters loved it, the gardens were perfect for my little daisy (dog) as she loved being able to run around and have the freedom of being outside when she wanted as it was all enclosed (even tho she did manage to escape under the gate haha). The beds are the comfiest beds I have ever stayed in. This is the perfect stay for families only down side is we had to come home. I would just like to say thank you to the owners for the lovely welcome pack and for making the stay the easiest and best stay we have had. I have already recommended the home to family and friends and I’m already looking at dates for when we can return xx

The property was lovely, just as advertised and cleaned to a very high standard. They provided everything we would possibly need including a lovely welcome pack and treats for the dogs. The owners were extremely helpful and welcoming. The garden was very secure, even our escape artist terrier couldn’t find a way out! Ourselves and the dogs loved watching the boats and swans in the well kept garden. Only small issue was the lack of curtain/blind on the front and back doors as this was a little spooky at night for two women alone but definitely didn’t ruin our stay. Cannot wait to come back one day!

Lovely location. A little over restrictive in that dogs were not allowed upstairs. To that end, a stair gate would have been useful as dogs have a habit of following their owners during the day, even if they are caged at night. And for the life of me I, nor any of our family group, could work out how to lower the temperature of the shower! Otherwise, delightful
