  • "Whilst this property is spotlessly clean and the owners are friendly and helpful, the main drawback is its lack of natural light."

This along with the monotone grey decor in the lounge, makes for very dull days when the weather is too bad to venture out ( Agree no- one can do anything about that!) It needs stronger artificial lighting, an injection of colour to make it look less like a dentists’ waiting room and the eyesore of the redundant fireplace needs a bright fire screen to cover it. There are no views from the property itself only from the grounds of the main hall. The ivy covering the outside needs cutting back, as it overhangs the front bedroom window and encroaches in the main doorway. Facilities good except the kitchen needs more cutlery - with 4 people staying, it is possible to run out during one meal. The surrounding area is a joy when the weather is good - Stokesley is a lovely town, and views from the Cleveland Hills are spectacular on a clear day.

Dear Kevin, thank you very much for taking the time to provide us with some constructive feedback, we really appreciate it. We will take on board your comments regarding the decor. Incidentally, the ivy was cut back shortly after you departed. Kind regards, Pamela and Neil Property Owner

The immaculately maintained grounds and house made for a very enjoyable stay for our family. Owners couldn't be more friendly and helpful. We are looking forward to staying again very soon!

  • "The Garden House is a wing of a lovely old building with high ceilings and period doors and architecture."

It is a shame that it has been fitted out with rather cheap modern furniture - particularly in the bedrooms (flat pack items and plastic mirrors). The living room furniture is all vinyl covered and not very comfortable. There are no ornaments and very few pictures so it doesn't feel very homely. Luckily it wasn't too warm when we were there as there is a strange house rule that says you aren't allowed to open any of the rear windows and the windows in the larger bedroom at the front were stuck fast with paint. The only way of letting in any fresh air is to leave the front door open - not very practical at night! The kitchen is quite well equipped but if there were four people staying then a bit more crockery and cutlery would be useful (it only has 6 of everything). It is a good location for the NY Moors and Stokesley is a lovely market town with an excellent selection of small food shops. The beds were comfortable and the house is very spacious but it could be so much better with more appropriate furnishings.

Dear Jonathan, Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your stay at The Garden House. I am very pleased to hear you found the location of the property suitable, the beds comfortable and it was very spacious accommodation. We have recently had the windows painted and I was unaware one of the windows was stuck fast. We will address this forthwith, thank you for letting us know. Whilst we have never had any negative comments regarding the decor, we take on board your observations. Thank you once again for the feedback. Neil (Host) Property Owner

  • "The most comfortable beds we have ever slept in and so quiet."

Lovely setting and interesting building. Furniture a bit sparse although adequate. Kitchen equipment adequate but maybe we have been spoiled in other places by having things like sponge scourers, cling film and foil provided. still a beautiful place though and owner very helpful and friendly.

Dear Chris, Thank you for your lovely review. It was great to meet you both too. We were delighted to hear you found the beds so comfortable, we love them too! We do provide a sponge scourer and if this was not located we apologise, a quick call would have rectified. We do hope to welcome you both back again. Neil & Pam Property Owner

  • "If you want to unwind and relax in the most peaceful setting this is it."

Rudby Hall is in private grounds which makes you feel very special. Local Stokesley has all the shops you need and plenty of choice for relaxing coffees and eating out. This property is ideally located for exploring the Cleveland Hills and is not too far from the coast, although Whitby is highly over-rated. Explore up the coast or better still drive into the moors. Property has been newly refurbished, the beds are divine, the kitchen has all you need for a holiday and everything is super clean. The hosts are friendly and accommodating and will make you feel very welcome. Don’t bother if you like partying, this place is for those that want to relax and enjoy peace and quiet.

Dear Paul & Jenny, thank you so much for your review, it is very much appreciated. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay in The Garden House and you were able to relax, unwind and enjoy the peace and tranquility of Rudby Hall. We hope to see you return one day, in the meantime our very best wishes and thanks again. Neil & family Property Owner

A very warm welcome on arrival and a goodbye on our departure from our hosts Neil and Pam. The accommodation is just as lovely as the pictures on the website show. Spacious and very comfortable, The Garden House is situated within the gated grounds of Rudby Hall. We were treated to a tour of the Hall and were also able to enjoy the extensive gardens. Such a beautiful building and so well cared for. This is holiday accommodation that I would most definitely return to. Thanks

  • ""A beautiful apartment at a stunning location" This apartment is as lovely and as comfortable as the pictures of it show."

Plus, it has the unusual advantage of being part of a peaceful country house estate that we enjoyed to the full. The grounds are privately gated & so beautiful, with views across towards the moors. The apartment was newly decorated & kitted out in 2021, so everything is in prime condition. Our hosts Neil & Ben were absolutely charming. Ben gave us such a warm welcome when we arrived at this unforgettable & special place. On the day of our departure, Neil gave a us a lovely tour of the Hall building itself, which is a treasure to behold. We would highly recommend this holiday home as being both a most unusual & extremely pleasant place to stay. We wouldn't hesitate to return, & plan to do so when we next come to this area.

  • "In an endeavour to be more eco friendly, we would suggest that to save using the dishwasher every day, perhaps 8 of all glasses and cups/mugs and utensils would be helpful in a holiday letting for 4 people."

Maybe we were too lazy to wash up every time we had a drink, just a thought.

  • "We booked the Garden House well in advance and received all the relevant information before arrival."

We contacted the staff directly at Rudby Hall on maybe two or three occasions before we got their to ask a few questions and got a reply back straight away. When we arrived we were met by Neil (The Host) which explained everything to us and showed us round our accommodation which was excellent, spotlessly clean, and very warm and welcoming, he also gave his own personal phone number to ring if we wanted anything, but we didn’t need it because everything was in place. We also met a few of the other staff which were very friendly and Neil showed us round the Rudby Hall and estate grounds. The Rudby Hall estate and the Garden House is a credit to the owners and the staff. We will be definitely booking again, the location is excellent peace and quiet, but is central to all the local villages ie Hutton Rudby, Stokesley, Yarm, and 30-45 minutes drive to Whitby, Sandsend, Saltburn. On departure we were met by Ben who made sure everything went to plan and it did. 10/10 we really enjoyed our stay! Thanks again Gary / Michelle
