Only thing was all the trees in the back garden. It was well shaded n we couldn't get any sun, also maybe a wall shower. We managed but those were our only little peeves. Thank-you to Patricia for everything. Xxx

The cottage was very clean and comfortable and quiet with a lovely courtyard garden. Many thanks to the hosts Dominic and Patricia for the welcoming pack. We would definitely think about staying there again.

  • "Four of us shared the cottage over two nights and all of us remarked on how well appointed and equipped the cottage was."

It was spotlessly clean and a pint of milk and biscuits was a thoughtful addition. We were blessed with glorious weather and had a couple of evening walks across the back fields to Sawdon. In the other direction is Wydale Hall retreat with a lovely walled garden. The small complex of cottages is breathtakingly pretty and the cottage itself is as cute as cute can be with a small outdoor area to sit in and watch the birds while eating breakfast. It also has the best stocked library of any cottage I’ve stayed in. One small niggle: a dish cloth would have been handy. I had one that I bought with me but that was just good luck. Overall: highly recommend and thank you for providing such lovely accommodation.

Thank you so much for your fantastic feedback. We are delighted to hear how much you liked our cottage. We are so sorry we forgot the dishcloth for your stay - we normally leave a cloth and sponge alongside the washing up liquid and brush. Many apologies for missing this when we set up the cottage for you. Property Owner

The cottage was immaculate and comfortable. The tv signal was bad but as we were out a lot it didn't spoil our stay. Beds were very comfortable and everything we needed was there for us. Milk and biscuits were appreciated. Nice part of Yorkshire, very scenic. Highly recommend this lovely place for a holiday.

Thank you for your positive feedback and for the 5 star rating. So sorry the TV reception was not strong for you. We do have a booster which normally works well. We will get it checked again by the engineer. Thank you for letting us know. Property Owner

  • "Lovely place to stay."

Clean, tidy and well equiped. Good communication from the owers on how to access the property. We feel that a proper shower would be better as we found the bath small. Also some blinds at the patio doors in the kitchen would be nice. Overall we had a good stay and would recommend to anybody else.

  • "What a wonderful week at this cottage."

The location is perfect, sitting in the kitchen seeing so many birds coming and going in the garden was magical. We enjoyed trips out to Whitby, Scarborough, Thornton-le-Dale and Pickering. We ate at Cedar Farm Barn, a farm shop only ten minutes in the car just slightly past Thornton-le-Dale. It has a lovely children’s play area outside. We enjoyed playing in the park at Snainton too, again only a couple of minutes in the car. Fish and chips at Walkers, again only ten minutes away in East Ayton. Best fish and chips I have ever had. SO tasty. The cottage is very well stocked with fluffy towels, the kitchen is well supplied and the treats left for us were very much appreciated. The bathroom is in desperate need of a lick of paint. We really missed having a guest book here, we love arriving, settling in with a drink and having a look through at peoples recommendations. It’s just not the same doing it online. Our little boy loves to write his name at the end of our stay too. Family recommendations are always really helpful so it’s a big shame there’s no book in the cottage. We were also unable to watch tv a lot of the time because the signal wouldn’t maintain itself. Nobody’s fault but frustrating at the same time. Owners apologetic when I updated them, but again had been disappointing.

  • "This was our second time staying at Barn Cottage, we just love it."

It's the most relaxing break away in the most quiet and peaceful area. A short car drive away from the most beautiful villages, Helmsley and Thornton le dale being our favourites. Wonderful old style pubs that serve the most wonderful home cooked food. Close to the seaside (Scarborough) 20 minutes down the road. We will definitely be booking again in the near future!

We are delighted you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for your very positive feedback. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was one of the best we have stayed in!"

Very well presented with a super modern kitchen and a comfortable lounge and dining area. Intended for four people, it had ample space for the two of us and we enjoyed the quiet location and our week away in North Yorkshire. The detailed and clear house brochure covered everything we needed and the owners ‘extra treats’ were much appreciated. Many thanks to Patricia and Dominic.

It’s in a great rural location which was really quiet. The owners couldn’t have been more helpful, attentive & welcoming. They have invested in good quality equipment throughout the house which was nice and I would highly recommend the property to anyone. Parking for 2 vehicles outside. It’s well located for the east coast esp. for Scarborough & Whitby but there are also lots of other attractions & places to visit nearby. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

  • "An excellent holiday cottage."

My wife and I on entering the spotlessly clean property were immediately taken by how good the accommodation and facilities were and all set in a beautiful and extremely peaceful location. We would most certainly stay there again as we thought it was also excellent value for money. The location of Barn Cottage is very well placed for visiting both coastal areas and other inland places of interest. We ate in for four evenings and for the other three we went to the Downe Arms which just three miles away in Wykeham, the food was very good and the service from the friendly, helpful staff was excellent. We really enjoyed our stay at Barn Cottage and would thoroughly recommend it. Thanks also to the owners for their diligence in making sure everything was okay for us and leaving a bottle of wine and biscuits etc., which was much appreciated.
