The property

Bellebeck is a delightful house nestled in the heart of Staithes, a picturesque fishing village within the North York Moors National Park in North Yorkshire.

Full of character and traditional charm, this homely, pet-friendly retreat is ideal for families and friends looking to experience Yorkshire's dramatic coastline and beautiful countryside.

Arriving in the village, leave the car in the public car park at the top of the hill before making your way to the cottage.

Open the gate and step into the gravelled front garden, where a bench offers a pleasant place to sit for a moment and soak up the atmosphere of this much-loved coastal village before heading inside.

The living/dining room immediately welcomes you with its charming and homely feel.

Wooden flooring paired with a rug adds warmth beneath your feet, while comfortable sofas and a footstool invite you to settle in after a day of exploring.

As evening draws in, switch on the electric fire and gather together with a favourite film, a board game, or simply good conversation while planning the next day's adventures.

Leading from the living space, the kitchen has everything needed for a self-catered stay.

Prepare a hearty breakfast before a day on the coast using the oven, hob and microwave, while the dishwasher makes cleaning up quick and easy, leaving more time to enjoy your holiday.

Upstairs, original floorboards bring plenty of character to both bedrooms.

The king-size bedroom is particularly inviting, with exposed stone walls adding to the cottage's heritage and creating a memorable place to unwind at the end of the day.

The twin bedroom provides a welcoming space for children or friends to rest after days spent exploring the surrounding countryside and coast.

The family bathroom offers the choice of a long soak in the bath or a refreshing shower overhead.

A heated towel rail adds a touch of comfort after returning from coastal walks, while the washing machine and tumble dryer make it easy to keep walking clothes and beachwear fresh throughout your stay.

Outside, the gravelled front garden provides a lovely setting for a morning coffee before wandering down to the harbour, while Staithes' selection of traditional pubs, independent cafés and local shops are all within easy reach.

Beyond the village, the North York Moors National Park offers endless opportunities for adventure.

Walk across sweeping heather-clad moorland, discover hidden valleys rich in wildlife, or journey through the landscape aboard the heritage North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

In Whitby, reached within a short drive, climb the famous steps to Whitby Abbey for breathtaking coastal views, delve into maritime history at the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, and enjoy fish and chips beside the golden sands of Whitby Beach.

Head to Robin Hood's Bay to explore its narrow historic streets, search for fossils along the shoreline, and take in spectacular clifftop scenery along the Cleveland Way.

For those looking to uncover more of Yorkshire's heritage, Goathland offers the opportunity to visit its iconic railway station, stroll through beautiful moorland surroundings, and admire the village's traditional stone-built character.

Whether you're exploring the dramatic Yorkshire coastline, discovering picturesque villages or enjoying days out in the North York Moors, Bellebeck provides a wonderful base for making lasting memories together.

STAITHES

Whitby 10 miles.

The charming and sleepy seaside village of Staithes, with its cobbled streets and back alleys, is something of an artist’s dream. Its pretty houses and cottages are clustered around the old harbour and surrounded by high craggy cliffs on three sides, with a sheltered sandy beach set amongst the rocky coastline. The village can claim connections with Captain Cook who was apprenticed to a draper near the harbour. Nowadays, Staithes is a must for anyone visiting the Yorkshire Coast and has a good selection of pubs, shops and tea rooms. Staithes is still home to an RNLI lifeboat station and a small fleet of cobles (fishing boats) landing fish, crab and lobster, with boat trips for birdwatching, fishing and even whale watching available. It’s also the location of the popular BBC children’s TV series, Old Jack’s Boat. Staithes has a strong attraction for artists, with an annual Art and Heritage Festival, galleries and artists studios with art courses and workshops regularly on offer. There’s a free Illusion Trail, which guides visitors around the network of ginnels (alleyways), with trail guides available locally. The best views of the town can be enjoyed from the Cleveland Way which runs down the cliff to the sea’s edge. Altogether a superb base for exploring the Yorkshire Coast, visiting the larger resorts of Whitby or Scarborough and enjoying the moorland villages of the North York Moors National Park.
